Chapter 167
Chloe Collins walked upstairs after saying that sentence.
Layla Lowell raised her eyebrows and thought to herself, "So there are things she doesn’t know as well."
Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Lydia Lowell had just brushed her teeth, wiped her face dry, and went to open the door.
When the door opened, she was shocked.
It wasn’t takeout food.
"Hello, are you Miss Chloe Collins?"
"No, but she’s not available right now. I’ll sign on her behalf." Lydia Lowell said as she examined the cargo behind the delivery man, realizing that he was a courier.
The delivery man smiled, "This is nine boxes of aged vinegar sent by Mr. Foster to Miss Collins. Please sign for it."
Lydia Lowell was shocked, "Nine boxes of aged vinegar?"
The delivery man smiled and nodded, "Yes, please sign for it."
Lydia Lowell looked at the boxes of vinegar on the ground, clicked her tongue twice, and wondered how jealous one had to be to buy so much at once.
Moreover, they didn’t even need that much; there was still some left in the kitchen they had bought yesterday.
She signed on Chloe Collins’ behalf and had all the goods moved inside.
Soon after, the takeout food arrived, so she brought it in, just as Chloe Collins finished taking a shower and came downstairs.
Chloe Collins wiped her hair and glanced at the wall near the door, "Why are there so many boxes?"
Lydia Lowell looked suspicious, "Didn’t you know? They just arrived, sent by someone named Mr. Foster. There are nine boxes, all full of vinegar. Are you particularly fond of vinegar?"
Chloe Collins was startled for a moment, a hint of distress appearing on her face.
She recalled his words from last night: "Think about it, am I angry or something else?"
Seeing her expression, Lydia Lowell quickly guessed, "Could it be that you didn’t know about this before?"
Chloe Collins stood in front of the boxes of vinegar with slightly heavier breathing.
Lydia Lowell’s lips curled into a smile, "This Mr. Foster must be Alex, right? I think I saw him here last night. Let me guess; he probably saw you drinking with so many men and got jealous, so he specifically bought nine boxes of vinegar to hint at you. After all, there were exactly nine men last night. Oh, what a calculated man."
Chloe Collins furrowed her brows and sat down at the dining table, opening her breakfast and eating it.
"Never mind him."
-
At the Collinses’ residence.
Raine Nolan woke up early and had already been looking at the fragrance blending manual for an hour.
Joy Taylor’s manual was indeed full of practical information, solving many difficulties Raine had encountered in blending fragrances in the past.
Over the past few days, she had already read half of the manual and another dozen pages this morning.
Suddenly, she noticed something was off.
Starting from a few pages in, the handwriting changed, becoming more rigid and a bit immature.
Moreover, some of the formulas were strange: ingredients that wouldn’t normally be combined appeared together in one formula, or the proportion of ingredients was unusual.
It was at odds with her previous knowledge.
She took the manual to see Ruth Taylor and told her about the problem.
Ruth Taylor didn’t look at the manual but said, "Your middle-aged woman has always been unconventional when it comes to blending fragrances, very unique, so you can’t judge her formulas by your previous knowledge. In any case, the formulas in this book are correct, so study them carefully and remember them."
"But Mom, don’t you think it’s strange that the handwriting is different?"
"It’s fine, she can write with both her left and right hands, so she would sometimes switch hands when her right hand gets tired." Ruth Taylor lightly replied while looking at a prenatal education book.
Raine Nolan saw that Ruth Taylor was not interested in discussing the matter further, so she dropped it.
She took the manual back to her room, thought for a moment, and decided to use one of the strange formulas to create a perfume.
For the upcoming banquet.
She would astonish Camille with her uniqueness.
