Chapter 1667: Chapter 1667 Surrounded
Chapter 1667
Everyone looked up and saw a helicopter flying in from the lightening sky, slowly approaching them.
The refugees smiled, excitedly watching it descend.
Suddenly—
Boom!
An explosion sounded, the tail of the helicopter caught fire and smoked, immediately veering off course, tipping downward!
The pilot parachuted out as the helicopter lost control, crashing rapidly into a mountain!
The refugees scattered in panic, while the guards quickly pushed the two of them into a vehicle, driving away from the area.
With a bang, the helicopter crashed not far away!
Another explosion reverberated, the ground shook violently!
And at that moment, the sky had just brightened.
Alexander Foster guarded her, scanning the surrounding area with a wary look, and suddenly said, "We can’t leave now."
The car was forced to a stop, and the driver turned around and said to them, "We’ve been surrounded!"
A sliver of morning light shot through the window, somewhat blinding. Chloe Collins squinted her eyes and looked into the distance.
For a moment, she recalled a scene from a science fiction blockbuster—armies enveloping them, with nowhere to escape.
She felt Alexander Foster tighten his grip on her hand, sweat beads forming on his temple.
If she hadn’t been pregnant, both of them wouldn’t be so nervous, but now, carrying a child, she herself didn’t dare to exert her full strength.
Not to mention how worried Alexander Foster must be feeling.
Momentarily, with the rising sun came a tight, impenetrable circle of armored Mutated People!
They wore armor, wielded weapons, and were fully equipped.
Leading the charge were some exceptionally powerful Mutated People.
Most of them looked strange, akin to super-powered beings.
This reminded Chloe Collins of the attack she experienced at Southvale’s Riverside, where multiple Mutated People had also rushed towards her.
Each one had different abilities, peculiar and powerful.
They closed in step by step, the open land tightening around them.
The refugees crept closer in terror, hiding beside their vehicles.
Many were praying for a miracle to occur.
But there were others who despaired, weeping as they said that they were just a dozen soldiers with a group of women and children refugees, no match for the several hundred Mutated People.
At last, their advancing stopped.
A two-meter-tall man with dirty dreadlocks smiled as he walked forward, stroking a horse before suddenly mounting it with a flip.
He slapped it, producing a snap which caused women to cry out in fright.
The crowd laughed.
The Mutated Person dismounted and approached James Cunningham and the others, his greedy gaze sweeping over them before focusing on Chloe Collins inside the vehicle.
"There’s one of our own inside."
Chloe Collins understood what was said—it was English.
"What’s this? There’s one of our own?" He looked at them curiously and greedily.
Alexander Foster’s expression was one of shock as he ordered Maurice Willis to switch seats, intending to drive himself.
Chloe Collins, however, pressed down on his hand and shook her head, "No, it’s too risky, and if we leave, James Cunningham and the others are finished."
After thinking for a moment, she said, "Let me handle this."
Alexander Foster instantly understood her intentions, "I’ll go with you."
Chloe Collins replied, "When I speak, don’t say a word. They are many, and we can only win with our wits."
She was relieved that these people didn’t recognize her, or else she wouldn’t have a way to deal with the situation.
The car door opened, and she stepped out, walking straight to stand behind James Cunningham.
James Cunningham and the others instinctively protected her.
Without a word, she simply motioned with her hand, nudging the people aside.
This small gesture immediately drew the attention of the man with the dreadlocks.
He said, "A high-level Mutated Person, impressive. Under which general do you serve?"
Chloe Collins was surprised at how organized their system had become but didn’t show it, only saying, "They’re all my prey. You brought down my helicopter; this account needs to be settled properly."
The man with the dreadlocks carried an inscrutable smile, sizing her up silently, a look of suspicion on his face.
Just then—
"She is Chloe Collins!"
