Dragging his feet, he finally reached the main gate of the East Wing. The West Wing was now out of sight. Only then did he regain his focus and knocked on the door to enter.

The East Wing was as illuminated and cozy as always, reflecting the warmth he yearned for.

A dog ran out, wagging its colorful tail.

"Victor." He petted the dog and smiled at it.

Victor looked up at him, then ran back inside.

He walked in with the tonics and stepped into the entrance hall.

Turning around, he saw a group of people chatting in the living room while watching television. Evelyn Thompson and William Foster, Sophia Ford, Robert Foster and Wanda Wesley, and, Cherry Foster.

His eyes froze instantly when they landed on Cherry.

The smile on his lips remained frozen.

Sophia Ford immediately changed her expression, while Cherry, her eyes filled with sadness, quickly looked away.

The others just watched.

Evelyn Thompson hurriedly broke the awkwardness, "Jameson, why are you here so late? Have a seat."
