Chapter 145: Chapter 145: It Seems You Are Not Familiar With Each Other
Chapter 145
Brandon Spence’s lips moved rapidly, speaking several sentences in a row before the girl finally spoke languidly.
From Alexander’s perspective, Brandon’s face turned pale in an instant before the girl even finished speaking.
In the presence of a girl ten years younger than him, he was submissive and frightened like a scared mouse.
Alex’s curiosity was piqued, and his mind reviewed everything he had known about this girl.
She was a mystery.
As it happened, he was good at solving mysteries.
Before long, Brandon slunk away, and Chloe Collins approached by opening the fence.
"That wasn’t a pleasant conversation."
Chloe darted him a glance without responding.
She walked straight in and resumed eating the meal she hadn’t finished.
Alex sat down and placed some food in her bowl casually, asking, "How do you know him?"
"No comment." she said flatly, looking at her phone.
Seeing her quietly eating, Alex didn’t press further.
Before long, he picked up his phone.
After finishing the meal, Chloe showed the guest to the door and coldly closed it.
Alex’s eyes held a touch of helpless amusement, "Remember to come home early."
Inside, it was quiet.
His phone buzzed with a message from his assistant.
[I found out that Brandon Spence used to work under Miss Collins’s mother for a period of time. They probably met then. Brandon is currently working in Italy and has a female patient under his care who he takes good care of and is likely developing into a romantic relationship.]
Seeing the latter part, the darkness in Alex’s eyes faded.
The next moment, the assistant sent another message.
[Sorry, boss, for the correction. The female patient I mentioned earlier is already married. She was cured of leg problems under his care and then married a local tycoon. However, the two have maintained a close relationship, so it’s hard to say what the nature of their relationship is.]
With this information, Alex had plans for the afternoon.
At three in the afternoon, Brandon Spence showed up with a different demeanor.
His smile was warm, and every word he said was about the past.
Alex spoke indifferently, "I didn’t ask you to come here to reminisce."
Brandon’s smile faded, "What, do you want to talk business with me? I’m not a businessman."
He was joking.
Alex leaned back in his chair, his calm and serene eyes quietly scrutinizing Brandon. Despite being younger, his commanding presence easily towered over the other man.
He asked, "Are you close with Chloe Collins?"
In an instant, realization hit Brandon.
His affable smile froze at the corner of his mouth.
"Why are you so concerned about her?"
As he asked that question, he had a vague answer in his heart.
Alex’s eyes turned cold, "Answer my question directly."
Brandon was wise enough not to provoke him.
"Not really close, just had some connections. I wanted her help with something this time. If you have any say with her, please help me."
His tone was rather earnest.
Alex’s eyes held a hint of interest, "What can she help you with?"
Brandon took a deep breath, secretly deciding not to answer.
Alex always managed to grasp the key points, and he couldn’t even steer the conversation away from the subject.
After some thought, he said, "Has she not told you?"
Alex didn’t say anything, his eyes overflowing with a touch of cold amusement.
Unable to bear it, Brandon took a sip of his coffee, "From the looks of it, she hasn’t told you, so you aren’t close either."
As soon as he said that, he regretted it, feeling like he had just brought it upon himself.
