Chapter 144: Unhealthy Takeout
Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Unhealthy Takeout
Chapter 144
12:09 PM.
It was quiet all around, no trace of Chloe Collins.
He stepped out of the courtyard but didn’t see her.
He went to the bathroom to wash his face and suddenly noticed a shelf with simple items, a cup, a toothpaste, and a toothbrush.
Next to it, there was a towel set for one person only.
Footsteps came from outside, and he shifted his gaze away from the cup and went out.
By chance, he saw Chloe coming out of the storage room.
He didn’t mention that she fell asleep while watching the movie, only asking, "What do you want for lunch?"
Chloe lifted her eyes: "Aren’t you leaving?"
He leaned casually against the wall, saying indifferently, "I’m hungry, won’t have the energy to drive."
Chloe walked straight out.
She looked down at the phone.
Alexander Foster saw the takeaway interface on her phone and took it away: "Takeout is unhealthy."
"I’m not cooking." She said bluntly.
"Mhm, you don’t have to cook." He said, while dialing a number on his phone.
Then he left.
Chloe poured a glass of water, and he was back after she finished it, carrying some snacks in his hand.
"There’s food in the car, eat something to fill your stomach."
He opened the bag, which contained bread, potato chips, and other things.
"These are even less healthy than takeout." She said.
Alexander tore open the bread packaging, handed it to her, and didn’t argue.
The aroma of the bread wafted towards her, and Chloe took a bite. It was quite soft.
Alexander watched her chewing quietly, the corner of his mouth lifted with a touch of a smile, and his eyes were filled with laughter.
About ten minutes later, the doorbell rang from outside.
Alexander went to open the door, bringing in several chefs from high-class restaurants.
The chefs walked in carrying fresh ingredients, cooking oil, and various seasonings, a completely mobile kitchen.
Chloe frowned. He had to make something as simple as ordering takeout so complicated.
The chefs were very fast. In less than twenty minutes, they had served four dishes and a soup, as well as a plate of sliced fruits.
Then they quietly left.
"Eat." Alexander scooped half a bowl of soup for her.
Chloe picked up the plate of braised pork in front of her and took a bite.
"How is it?"
"It’s okay." She replied.
When she said it was okay, it really was okay.
Alexander found it quite good and knew she was picky about her taste.
"The chef of this restaurant comes from the highest-rated restaurant in Capitol, try the other dishes."
Chloe tasted the other dishes one by one, "These are not bad."
In fact, she had eaten at this restaurant before and really liked it.
"Only the braised pork doesn’t suit your taste?"
Chloe paused for a moment, and then added, "I’ve had better."
"Which restaurant?"
"Not for sale."
Alexander suddenly thought of something and didn’t ask any more.
Most likely, it was made by her mother.
She wasn’t rushing through her meal but finished her bowl of rice rather quickly.
Alexander’s mouth curled up, and he reached out to fill her bowl.
She took hold of her own bowl, "I’ll do it myself."
After so many years, she had become accustomed to doing a lot of things by herself. It was only after joining the Fosters that he had intervened in many things.
A strange feeling.
The doorbell suddenly rang.
"Miss Collins!"
That voice belonged to Brandon Spence.
Alexander put down his chopsticks and followed her out.
But Chloe closed the door before he could get close, "Don’t come over."
She went out, and Brandon Spence was standing outside her front door.
Alexander leaned against the door inside, watching the two people in the distance from afar.
Chloe looked indifferent, while the man across from her was clearly agitated.
The man was trying to explain something to her, even making a pleading gesture.
Impatience was visible in the corner of the girl’s eye.
