Chapter 1285
After she passed by, the house servants grouped together and started whispering among themselves.
"She dares to arrive, and she even comes alone. Isn’t this like falling into a trap?"
"I guess she was forced to apologize. Everyone in the mansion wants her dead now. No decent person would willingly attract trouble."
"You don’t know. When I was reporting her arrival, the expressions on the Madam and Young Masters were terrifying. I’m sure there will be a good show today!"
A group of people slowly followed behind, waiting to watch the drama unfold.
The person who received her was a noblewoman, the mother of Mane York.
The woman’s attitude was indifferent, and she just glanced at Chloe Collins dismissively, saying, "Sit, have someone serve tea."
Chloe Collins nodded slightly, "Mrs. York, I’ve come with something to discuss with Miss York today, please introduce us."
This coldly polite behavior did not earn Mrs. York’s heart, but made her laugh, and she said indifferently: "Miss Collins, you must remember the incident between you and my daughter two days ago, right? She is still bedridden because of you!"
She shouted out, and the fingers holding the handrail clenched suddenly, protruding her knuckles.
But Chloe Collins was unruffled, stating her purpose: "I do remember, and that’s why I’m here today."
While speaking, she took out a piece of document and placed it on the table.
The butler presented it to Mrs. York.
Mrs. York only glanced at it twice, and she pressed it on the table, her words were sharp: "You injured my daughter, angered my father-in-law, and now you have the audacity to ask my daughter for a favor?"
Chloe Collins: "I’m merely exercising the right that I won. I hope Mrs. York can understand."
"How do I know this isn’t something you forced her to write?" Mrs. York snorted coldly.
Chloe Collins wasn’t irritated by this sharp attitude, she calmly took out another item, a mobile phone.
The phone’s screen was already adjusted to a video player.
The butler presented it to Mrs. York again.
Upon pressing play on the video, one can see Mane York and Chloe Collins sitting at a rectangular table with a public notary standing in between, reading the competition rules to both of them. After the rules were read, both people signed their names and left thumbprints without objections.
Mrs. York’s face became even more tense, but her aura seemed a bit weaker than before.
Chloe Collins: "Does Mrs. York have any doubts?"
Mrs. York tightened her lips, struggling to control her anger. She knew that she was not just a mother, but also the First Lady of the Duke’s Mansion. Her actions and words had to maintain the dignity of the Duke’s Mansion. She would never engage in disgraceful behaviors like throwing a tantrum.
Because of this, Chloe Collins was allowed to enter today, otherwise, she would have already been dismissed at the door.
After staring sharply at Chloe Collins for over ten seconds, she finally conceded, "Someone come, take Miss Collins to Young Miss’s room."
Chloe Collins nodded, "Thank you, Madam."
After the butler led the guest away, Mrs. York thought for a while and beckoned someone to come over, whispering a few words into their ear.
The man nodded and expressed his concerns, "Madam, is it appropriate to do this?"
"There’s nothing inappropriate. Just because I can’t deal with her doesn’t mean others can’t. I have to seek vengeance for Mane! Moreover, the Lord is still in recuperation, his illness was aggravated by her as well. If we do nothing, won’t it seem as if we are easy to bully in the Duke’s Mansion?"
"Yes, I’ll handle it immediately."
Meanwhile.
Upon reaching the door, Chloe Collins waited for a while before she was called in.
Mane York was still lying in the bed, and when she saw Chloe Collins, she exhibited an indifferent attitude.
"Why are you here?"
