Chapter 104

Turning her head, she saw Robert Foster carefully opening a bag of potato chips.

Seeing her awake, he grinned, "Woke you up, sorry."

He then tossed a few chips into his mouth and started chewing.

Chloe Collins took her eyes off him and suddenly saw a milk tea being handed over from the side.

Alexander Foster held the cup of milk tea, his long fingers covered with water droplets, which slid down from the back of his hand.

Chloe looked at him and took the cup, "Thanks."

Her mouth was dry, and she felt like having a drink.

The flavor was her favorite - matcha, and it was quite authentic.

The man wiped his hand with a napkin and blandly said, "You’re welcome."

His words made Chloe look at him again, and she found herself staring into his deep, dark eyes. His gaze was so direct and intense that it seemed like he could see right into her heart.

Chloe suddenly felt that he was acting oddly.

It seemed like he was indifferent to her, but at the same time, he was inexplicably considerate of her needs.

She averted her eyes, took a big sip of milk tea, and decided not to dwell on such a trivial issue.

The milk tea had pudding in it, which was soft and chewy. She slowly chewed and felt quite satisfied.

Tomorrow was the Master’s birthday. Every year on this day, the Fosters would host a huge feast. Regardless of how close or distant the relationship, as long as there were no major conflicts, everyone would be invited. The Master had a wide network, and even at the minimum, there would be at least a hundred tables.

Therefore, on the eve of the birthday banquet, the Master would gather everyone to discuss the arrangements for the event.

After getting out of the car, the three of them headed towards the Main Building.

It was the most crowded Chloe had ever seen the Foster household since her arrival.

Not only did the attendees include the Fosters’ oldest son’s family of five from the West Wing and the younger son’s family of four from the East Wing, but also Chloe, the Master’s cousins and in-laws. Most of them were accompanied by family members as well.

Chloe took a quick glance and estimated there were around thirty or forty people.

There were more than a dozen people her own age, some of whom were still wearing the Affiliated High School uniform.

Because the living room was spacious enough, the group didn’t feel crowded when gathered together.

Most people of a similar age sat together, forming three small circles of conversation.

As soon as they walked in, Evelyn Thompson stood up with a smile and called to the others, "They’re back."

Afterward, she beckoned them over.

Robert Foster tugged at Chloe Collins’ sleeve, "Let’s go over there, where the young people are."

Alexander Foster frowned and was about to say something when the Master’s voice suddenly came calling, asking him to come over.

He could only watch helplessly as the two completely disregarded him and went straight towards the group of youngsters.

Eight pairs of eyes stared at Chloe as she sat down, surrounded by three girls and five boys.

Robert introduced everyone one by one, saying they were all his cousins. They were all around the same age, with some in the first year of high school and others in the first year of university, while the rest were in their senior year of high school, just like them.

As Chloe sat among them, no one paid any attention to her apart from Robert. They just talked amongst themselves.

As he ate, Robert said to her, "Your parents will be here soon."

Chloe frowned slightly, "Isn’t this a family banquet?"

"Yes, it’s a family banquet, but this is an old custom that’s been passed down. In the old days, my grandfather and your grandfather’s generation would always gather together for events like these, and over time it became a habit. Oh right, now that I think about it, I’ve never seen you at any of these gatherings before."

Every year on this day, the Collinses would come over to discuss the birthday banquet, but Robert had never seen her before.

Chloe gave him a sidelong glance, her expression muted and elusive.

"Hey, have you guys checked your test results? I just checked mine, and they’re out. It’s a disaster—I only got 570, down by 20 points. I’m gonna get scolded by my mom," said one girl.

"Let me check."

The others took out their phones and entered their student numbers.

At that moment, there was some commotion at the doorway.

Chloe looked up and saw the Collins family at once.

Tristan Collins entered with Rosalind Taylor on his arm, while Raine Nolan held hers. Theodore Collins trailed behind, led by Tristan.

The family of four moved together as a unit.

Tristan’s gentle demeanor was intact as he greeted a few of the senior elders.

Immediately behind them, Jameson Spence’s family appeared as well.
