Chapter 719: Chapter 67 Li Meng’s Story_1

"Cousin, everything I’ve said is true!"

"I absolutely didn’t lie to you!!"

"That black cat was originally just so small, then its paw suddenly became big, like a grindstone... smack, it swatted that Norwegian Forest cat and sent it flying!"

"And its tail!"

"Its tail swished and whooshed, and suddenly, it became so long, so thick! I felt like it could split that willow into two with just one tail strike!"

At the edge of the small square outside the library, Li Meng stopped her cousin, wildly waving her arm, fervently and incoherently sharing her recent experience: "...afterward, its paw suddenly shrunk back, it was just like magic!"

Jiang Yu, carrying a few heavy reference books, checked the time, and let out a helpless sigh: "Meng Meng! This is the First University, is a cat that can do magic and change size that strange?"

A few minutes ago, a little witch covered in filth had rushed into the library, and before the librarian had a chance to get angry, dragged her cousin out of the study room, dancing with excitement as she recounted recent events.

From her bribing a group of cats with dried fish to catch mice, to the Norwegian Forest cat that attempted to steal the catch midway through - to increase her persuasiveness, the little witch even showed off a small mouse caught by a certain shorthaired cat, holding up its tail and dangling it in front of Jiang Yu - then she talked about how the Teddy Bear crumbled before the wild cats, and how the little black cat came out of nowhere, sending the malevolent wild cats packing with a flurry of paws right and left.

Of course, throughout her description, she mixed in a lot of her own imaginative embellishments and subjective assumptions.

But overall, the general process of what happened wasn’t that much different from what she said.

"So weird! It’s so weird!" Li Meng was bouncing around Jiang Yu like a rabbit while exclaiming, "It can change its size! I wonder if it knows any other magic! I’ve always wanted a magic animal... of course, assuming it’s not transformed by a wizard."

"A cat transformed by a wizard can’t logically use magic... Mendel’s Paradox, I’m sure I’ve told you about this more than once." Jiang Yu bent over and patted off the dried mud on the little witch’s robe, frowning as she said, "Also, your clothes! They’re so dirty, it’s disgraceful."

"I’ll wash it when I get back, I’ll wash it when I get back!" Li Meng looked up at the sky, shining eyes betraying her obliviousness to her cousin’s reprimand, still excitedly counting off on her fingers, "What if I find the owner of that black cat, do you think they could breed one for me? I remember we still have some purebred Persian cats at home... but it seems like just a regular alley cat though, what if it doesn’t like Persian cats..."

"Cousin, cousin, do you know where to find a purebred alley cat? Preferably black"

"Also, cousin, do you think the offspring of a magic cat will also be able to use magic? What if they give birth to a litter of kittens that can’t use magic!"

Jiang Yu silently stood back up, looking expressionlessly at the little witch.

Once the little witch closed her mouth, Jiang Yu slowly said, "The offspring of magic animals don’t necessarily inherit their magical abilities. They’re just relatively more spiritual... You should be more concerned about Li Neng. I think he needs to be thoroughly washed."

Saying this, the witch sternly glanced at the teddy bear Li Meng was holding in her hand, her gaze falling on a dark mark on the bear’s face, adding: "Have the butler prepare a disinfectant solution, and soak it overnight!"

The teddy bear whimpered but didn’t dare to make a sound.

Because of the previous incident, the teddy bear had rolled in the mud in the forest, and even though the large clumps of soil had fallen off after drying, it still looked filthy compared to its usual appearance - the kind of filthy that definitely wasn’t allowed in the dormitory.

"But didn’t you say you were saved by a big black cat a while back?" Li Meng pouted her mouth, hiding the teddy bear behind her back, insisting on the previous topic, seemingly puzzled by her cousin’s nonchalance, "I thought you wanted to find it to show your gratitude..."

"Show my gratitude?" Jiang Yu rested her hand on her forehead, as if she’d been defeated by the little witch, "How would I do that? By pledging myself in marriage to the big black cat? ... How many times have I told you, stop reading those bizarre fantasy novels, if you have free time, you better write your daily log for the week! It’s due tomorrow, and I won’t help you delay this time!"

"I got it! I’ll write it right away!!" The little witch wrinkled her nose, drawing out her agreement unenthusiastically, and muttered under her breath: "Threatening people when her argument doesn’t hold up, that’s not fair at all!... A simple thank you when someone helps you isn’t too much to ask for, right?"

"Hmm?!" Jiang Yu lowered her head, giving the little witch a stern look, and gave a deep hum through her nose.

"Fine! Fine! I’ll go now!" The little witch responded half-heartedly as she grabbed the teddy bear’s ear and sulkily headed towards the library.

Downcast, the teddy bear allowed the little witch to pull his round ears into pointed ones, showing none of the usual lively struggle. Maybe it was preparing mentally for tonight’s nightmare of a disinfectant bath in advance.

"Go to the dorm first and clean yourself up!" Jiang Yu shouted at her from behind: "I’m going to the office building to file some paperwork, I’ll meet you in the library later... the usual spot, Fifi is saving it for us."

"Got it, got it!" Li Meng didn’t look back, her little arm weakly waving twice, then she took a turn and headed towards the dormitory.

Behind her, like a pendulum, the teddy bear swung from side to side, drifting haphazardly with the wind.

Watching the little witch’s retreating figure, Jiang Yu finally let her calm facade crumble, she turned her head to look at the grove of trees by the lake, biting her lip.

Though she’d acted indifferent in front of her cousin, she wasn’t as calm deep down. In fact, after being saved by Big Black that night, she’d come to the lakeside more than once, hoping to see Big Black again and express her gratitude— for this, she even prepared a large pack of fragrant top-grade steak as a gift.

But after waiting around for days, her wish remained unfulfilled. Perhaps to avoid creating a disturbance, or because it simply left, in any case, she had not seen Big Black since that day.

Sometimes, she would even question if the black cat was a test subject from one of the school’s labs that had gotten out. Therefore, she had her relatives inquire with the school, in hopes of properly repaying Big Black in some way.

But after several investigations, the school denied this possibility.
