Chapter 687: Chapter 35 Gamma Street No.49_1
When Elena knocked on the pillar in Sir Friedman’s lounge room, unexpected guests arrived at a dull standalone villa located at the end of Gamma Street, outside the Alpha Castle.
In the afternoon, the sun had just passed its zenith, and the air still retained traces of the lazy ambiance, completely driving away the early winter’s chill. The bluestone pavement on Gamma Street was dry and clean. The occasional dead leaves falling from the olive trees by the roadside would immediately get swept into the corner by a seemingly mysterious breeze.
Two figures clad in white cloaks silently walked on the bluestone pavement, eventually stopping at the door of 49 Gamma Street.
Gamma Street is a small street encircling the main Alpha Castle. The street is neither long nor messy. On the side closer to the castle, a tidy row of silver-grey mansions stand along the street. The mansion numbers start from the left side of the main gate of the Alpha Castle and continue in sequence, skipping unlucky numbers such as four and thirteen. The sequence ends at the right of the Alpha Castle after a full circle.
And 49 Gamma Street represents the last mansion number in this row of silver-grey houses.
Unlike the imposing styles of the old clans’ Byzantine, Rococo, and Grand View Garden, 49 Gamma Street Mansion seemed to incorporate more elements of the Magical World — mushroom-shaped huts, cream puff roofs, windows made from finger cookies decorated with fresh Buddha’s hand fruit and cranberries. Outside the house, cream puff chicks were running around, chasing a few sugarcane wrappers full of body; In the yard, the hot cocoa spring water bubbled up, with a few candy ducks aimlessly swimming in it, occasionally flapping their wings and splashing the dark brown beverage everywhere.
"Is this really the house for the Auspicious Convention?" The guest at the back couldn’t help but whispering with incredulity, "This is too outrageous!"
The person in the white cloak who was walking ahead stopped, turned around, and looked at the wizard behind him.
"This place was originally the base for the Green Witch Society. However, because of their lack of development, the society has not recruited enough members and couldn’t find suitable sponsors for a long time, so they were forced to abandon this candy house... Meanwhile, during this year’s school hunting competition, Sepulano earned some gold, which allowed him to purchase this mansion as the base for his Auspicious Convention."
"And that’s why we’re here today."
"Matthew, you must remember never to judge the truth of a matter from the first impression, no matter how it shocks or astonishes you." The voice under the white cloak seemed a trifle stern, but his expression was concealed by his hood.
"Yes, sir." Matthew Karen immediately lowered his head to accept his cousin’s instruction.
Only then did Sir Friedman turn back, tighten the collar of his cloak, step over the chocolate-made threshold, and walk into this remarkable mansion.
Seeing the visitors, a gingerbread man ambled up to meet them.
"Good day, sirs." The gingerbread man made a laborious bow and gave a warm welcome. Matthew noticed several deep grooves on the gingerbread man’s pineapple bun head, which he suspected were its smiling face; its baguette arms and legs are hard to bend. As it bowed, croissant crumbs and sugar from its body sprinkled down.
He wondered if this gingerbread man, should it fail to stand up, would end up on the dining table of the mansion owner. As he silently considered this, the young vampire quietly removed his outer cloak and handed it to several other gingerbread man servants who rushed over.
It must be admitted, air-dried baguettes are indeed sturdy, perfect for hanging cloaks and coats.
A gentle breeze passed by, carrying a sweet fragrance that quickly rushed into the young vampire’s nostrils, making him take a deep breath and feel a strange sense of satisfaction at the bottom of his heart.
This sense of satisfaction was quickly dispelled when he followed Sir Friedman into the mushroom house, saw a gigantic soda biscuit table, and the obese wizard sitting behind it.
He was a robustly fat man whose muscular contours were visible even through his oversized robe. He had thick eyebrows, small eyes that held a deep gaze, and saggy cheeks, making him look like a vigilant Shar Pei.
But Matthew certainly wouldn’t dare express his thoughts in front of the fat wizard.
The one sitting behind that soda biscuit table was Mike Gold Cypress Sepulano, deputy head of the Blood Comrades, founder of the Auspicious Clan, and one of the most powerful students in the entire castle, who was at par with his cousin, Friedman, in the Alpha Academy.
"Friedman?" Seeing the two guests, the robust fat man behind the table didn’t bother standing up to welcome them. Instead, he squinted his eyes, tightening his lips even more: "You actually have the temerity to come to my place."
"Why not?" The Duke seemed taken aback.
He spread his hands slightly, shrugged his shoulders, looked around, and was evidently very friendly in his demeanor: "I heard that you recently made some money and immediately swapped it for this mansion on Gamma Street. As a neighbor, I naturally have to come to congratulate... By the way, the 3A Association mansion is at 27 Gamma Street, roughly diagonally across from this mansion."
"He’s being sarcastic, Mike, even I can hear it!" A sharp shout came suddenly from a picture frame hanging on the wall. Seemingly speaking from Sepulano’s perspective, the voice was gleeful.
Matthew paused slightly. He recognized the figure inside the picture frame — he was the owner of The Wandering Bar on the pedestrian street of Beta Town, a broker who students also called the ’Wandering Wizard’. Supposedly, he used to be a Black Wizard.
Except, what on earth was the Wandering Wizard doing here with Sepulano? The young vampire’s mind spun, trying to independently think through what kind of a deal there could be between a former black wizard and a powerful student in the academy.
"Thank you, Mr. Wandering Wizard... But, this is a matter between Friedman and me." The fat wizard replied coldly. His gaze then shifted slightly, "As a token of thanks, I’ll treat you to some cream."
A muscular wizard silently emerged from a corner, holding a large pot of cream, which was plastered on the picture frame. The Wandering Wizard’s scream was immediately drowned out by the layer of fluffy cream and gradually became inaudible.
Matthew’s eyes twitched slightly.
Sepulano ignored the expression of the young vampire standing behind Friedman. He remained seated in his place, didn’t arrange seats for his guests, but slightly leaned forward, crossed his hands under his double chin, and looked at the tall wizard right in front of him, his gaze even darker:
"Speak then, what do you wish to accomplish today?"
