In merely two minutes, the pack of wolves had not even crawled out of the grass before the Blue Fatty dashed back in front of the hill, dragging more than a dozen thick logs.

"Wow! So impressive!" exclaimed Zhang Ji Xin, simultaneously poking fun at the fatty: "From now on, all the heavy lifting in the hunting team should be handed over to him... based on capabilities."

The Blue Giant glanced at him, wiped his nose, sneezed out a large heap of snot and forcefully threw it in front of Zhang Ji Xin. This caused the red-faced male wizard to fiercely protest, his face flushing even redder.

Zheng Qing did not participate in their ’daily interaction’, but instead sat cross-legged at the top of the hill, with his eyes closed, quietly replenishing his spiritual power. He had just finished setting up the Rune Array nearby and was now in a state of extreme fatigue. Even the plan to summon Minotaur with nose rings and earrings for defensive assistance was temporarily cancelled.

Xiao Xiao was squatting next to him, playing with dozens of Cao herbs on the grass. His cheeks were slowly squirming, chewing on something while muttering words:

Thinking of this, he quietly opened his eyes, glanced at Xiao Xiao, and managed a weak smile, "If the divination indeed predicts a major disaster, then let’s divine again. If the divination predicts great luck, that would be good..."

Xiao Xiao looked visibly dissatisfied: "If you always subjectively reject poor results and only choose to hear the good divination results, then why do I need to divine! You could just make up some nonsense yourself, couldn’t you?!"

"Obviously, words spoken by a diviner are more uplifting than my made-up ones," Zheng Qing helplessly spread his hands, "It’s not that I don’t value the divination results...but we are in this hunting ground, and things are already as bad as they can get. He turned his head to look at the Blue Fatty and Zhang Ji Xin, who were busy setting up caltrops and obstacles at the edge of the hill. Isn’t demon hunting supposed to be us searching and hunting demons everywhere?"

"That Puppet Highness never explained the rules to us from the start," Zheng Qing hummed, speaking lazily, "Perhaps, in the setup of that Secret Garden Elf, this hunt is actually the demons hunting the wizards."

"No," Xiao Xiao shook his head, "I mean, why can these demons find us... I’ve checked before, all the ointments and talismans on everyone to conceal our presence are still working. The only explanation is that there is a very special ’attractor’ among us that is continuously drawing the demons here."

Zheng Qing lowered his eyelids, his gaze hidden from view.

"The wolves are here."

He murmured softly.

As if to confirm his words, a long howl suddenly echoed from the nearby hill:

"Awoooo...."

This cry seemed like a sounded horn, instantly attracting a staggered chorus of wolf howls from all directions.

"Awoooo...Awoooo...!!"

"Awoooo....!!"

The members of the Absolution Hunting Team inside the Rune Array only now realized that they were completely surrounded by a pack of wolves on this small hill.

The front line was composed of some grey wolf demons, approximately seventy or eighty. They stood over a meter tall, their crimson eyes filled with savagery and cruelty. After emerging from the grass, they began to roam in small groups near the hill, occasionally letting out howls.

Behind the grey wolves, there faintly were a few black wolves nearly two meters tall, their fur glossy. Unlike their noisy grey counterparts, they sat quietly at the rear, silently watching the young wizards on the hill.

The Absolution Hunting Team was fully prepared for battle.

Blue Fatty had reapplied his characteristic Phantom Body Symbol, and, holding a thick wooden club, squatted next to the hill, waiting for instructions. Though unsure if the beasts had noticed anything, it didn’t stop Fatty from trying to minimize his presence.

Zheng Qing was sitting at the top of the hill, pulling out a brass telescope from a grey cloth bag— a recent purchase made to watch the opening ceremony of the school hunting competition, it had the quality (fuzzy judgement) viewing and replay functions— carefully examining the surrounding wolf pack, trying to locate the Wolf King.

He remembered very clearly that Blue Bird, in the information relayed back, had emphasized ’Beware of the Wolf King.’

Looking around at the dozen or so black wolves with demonic energy fluctuating around 10+, and the surrounding packs of grey wolf demons with energy levels ranging between 3-9, Zheng Qing’s heart instantly sank to the bottom.

Just what kind of demon could organize such a group of wolf demons?

The two armies were in a standoff, the atmosphere somewhat tense.

But the first to react was not the wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team, or the restless wolf demons. Instead, it was the previously languid Diao’er, who had been napping in the grass on the hill, nibbling on crosang fruit and those delicate flower clusters.

Diao’er seemed to have noticed something and suddenly bounced out of the grass, running cheerfully down the hill while screeching all the way.

"Be careful!" Zhang Ji Xin, quick in both eye and action, scooped up the mink as it ran past him, issuing a warning: "There are so many big dogs outside, don’t go and get stuck in their teeth!"

Diao’er struggled fiercely in his arms, occasionally turning back to bare her sharp teeth at the red-faced wizard and letting out a warning growl.

"Oh wow, so ferocious." Zhang Ji Xin curled his lip, stubbornly holding on: "I’m doing this for your own good."

"Swordsman should be outside." Zheng Qing shouted while scanning the surroundings with his telescope: "Go and support him... and be careful!"

Meanwhile, at the rear of the wolf pack, there was a faint sign of disturbance.
