Chapter 295: Chapter 219 Night Shift Ward_1
When the monthly meeting ended, it was fully dark as the professors left the office building-101.
The senior professors were the last to leave the conference room.
They deliberately slowed down in order to leave adequate time for pondering.
In the quiet corridor, apart from the whispering conversations between the paintings on the wall and the sculptures at the corners, only the casual talks of the professors were left.
"Since he has already entered the First University, he naturally has his reasons..." Old Yao, puffing on his pipe, vaguely said, "After all this time, there’s no harm in waiting a bit longer."
"Exactly, exactly, it’s the beginning of the semester, there’s plenty of time to discuss whatever matters after the end-of-term exams," Professor Li’s feeble voice was blown by the chilly wind in the corridor, instantly making the atmosphere eerie.
Luckily, the professors were all experienced, and didn’t pay much attention to the odd atmosphere around them.
"End of term!" Professor Emma’s eyes bulged, ready to lose her temper.
"Patience... along with more patience provides a guarantee for success." Professor Yi slowly advised, "Whether it’s the Black Prison, or the school, it’s not a desperate situation... Waiting a bit won’t do any harm. Perhaps he is also thinking about observing for a while."
Outvoted three to one, Professor Emma didn’t say anything else.
But going by her huffy disposition as she left, the conversation evidently hadn’t gone well.
Old Yao gave a bitter smile, puffed on his pipe, and blew out a thick puff of blue smoke.
"What are you planning to do?" Professor Yi carefully studied the smoke being exhaled by Old Yao, his fingers swiftly pinching.
"What do you mean, what to do!" Old Yao scoffed, obviously dissatisfied: "What else can I do?... Of course, I will first concentrate on teaching the lessons well!"
"I heard that you’re planning to teach them the ’Theory of Silence’?" Professor Li unexpectedly interjected: "For young wizards who have just started school, isn’t this theory a bit too abstruse or difficult?"
"It’s all because of that girl Sima’s mischief." Professor Yao waved his hand helplessly as the pipe in his hand slipped out a string of golden sparks: "She discusses a wizard’s concealment in history class ... it touches upon some truths, so she tosses the content related to the Philosophy of Magic at those kids... What can they do? They can only come to me."
"If it’s only the basic knowledge concerning the ’Theory of Silence’, the freshman should not have too many problems understanding it... In fact, they might have an advantage," Professor Yi leisurely said, playing with a clear crystal ball: "After all, they are young and their thinking is not that rigid... They may accept some heretical theories faster than we could."
"Perhaps." Old Yao drew a deep breath, revealing deep fatigue on his face: "You guys go ahead, I need to make a trip to the campus hospital."
"He’s still not discharged?" The surprise in Professor Li’s tone was quite evident: "I remember it was just loss of consciousness due to mental discord, it should not have necessitated such a long stay in the campus hospital."
"He was hexed with a small curse, due to which something unexpected happened." Old Yao said with a helpless face: "I was planning to start with the ’Introduction to Dimensional Studies’ in today’s philosophy class, but because not everyone was present, I was forced to postpone the lesson... That rascal has already missed a full day of class!"
"That was expected," Professor Yi, his fingertip resting on the crystal ball, squinting at its fast spinning in the moonlight: "If you knew a little more, you wouldn’t find it hard to realize that his relationship with Alpha College is a bit delicate... Emma wanting to pull his strings as soon as possible, might have this in consideration."
Old Yao did not respond to the diviner’s muttering words.
He put away his pipe, waved goodbye to the two professors, and strode into a long, dark corridor.
At the end of this corridor was the school front court.
The Jiu You Branch Hospital of the First University was situated next to a small square in the front court.
At this moment, the protagonist of the professors’ discussion, was lying on a clean white hospice bed on the second floor of the school hospital, eyes closed, as if asleep.
"How long has he been like this?" A small boy’s voice softly rang before the hospital bed.
"One day... perhaps two. My cousin would know... cousin... cousin?" The little girl hesitated, turned to look for the authoritative figure, but was shocked to find that her cousin was not behind her.
"Have you seen my cousin?" Li Meng angrily grabbed the little boy next to her: "She was clearly just behind us!"
"How would I know..." Lin Guo tugged at the strap of his backpack on his shoulder, trying to move his backpack to his front.
The Big Mouse on the backpack was curled up comfortably, casually napping.
"Only knows how to sleep!" Li Meng stretched out her index finger, angrily poking at the sleeping mouse.
The mouse squeaked angrily, quivered its whiskers, and scooted to the back of the backpack.
"Why’d you hit it... that’s displacement of anger." Lin Guo looked seriously at the little girl beside him, attempting to use an educating tone to criticize: "We are college students now, we have to learn to control our emotions."
"So what if we are college students! If growing up means I can do whatever I want." Li Meng immediately retorted: "Otherwise, what’s the point of growing up?"
Perhaps the two of them were arguing a little too loudly.
The sleeping figure on the hospital bed seemed to stir a bit.
Li Meng and Lin Guo immediately closed their mouths and focused their attention on Zheng Qing.
After a long time, the sleeping person remained motionless.
"He moved just now, didn’t he?"
"He definitely moved!"
"Do you know why he fainted in class? I heard you also fainted in class several times..."
"Rumor! It’s all rumors... I got the attention of those shameless old immortals from the depths of the Starry Sky, so occasionally I enter a hyperdimensional state... This is not the case with him, I remember saying on the special plane, his headaches are an old problem, they’ve been there since he was a child!"
"What difference does it make, all of them are problems since childhood..."
"It’s totally not the same! His headaches are often accompanied by nightmares... I just fall asleep!"
"Do you think he is pretending to sleep?"
"Pretending to sleep?"
"I heard there’s a witch named Elena in your class, she’s really powerful, and he seems to be afraid of her," Lin Guo said mysteriously: "Everyone is saying that he’s pretending to faint to avoid Elena."
"I...it...it seems...quite...quite make...sense...aha..." Li Meng laughed, clutching her stomach. She was laughing so hard that she couldn’t speak a complete sentence.
It’s all rumors, just rumors!
Upon hearing such slander in his dizziness, Zheng Qing could no longer bear his excited emotions, and struggled, grabbing the inexhaustible darkness in that light line, striving to float upward.
"Nonsense..."
That was the first sentence he said after opening his eyes.
"He’s awake!"
"He’s alive!"
Two little college students who were watching by the bed screamed, hopped, and ran towards the outside of the ward, shouting all the way.
The previously quiet school hospital was instantly in a state of chaos.
