Chapter 203: Chapter 127: Rules and Warnings_1
A faint mist had somehow drifted under the sun.
The sunlight seemed as if it had been filtered, giving a sparse feeling.
Long exposure to the ultraviolet rays had caused beads of sweat to form on Matthew Karen’s forehead.
But it seemed as if he was oblivious to it, still staring calmly at the young werewolf from the Taylor family in front of him.
"Draw your law book!" Matthew grabbed his law book, aimed steadily at Andrew, and once again urged him.
He didn’t have much patience.
He had no idea when the practice teacher would reappear in front of everyone. Besides, as an aristocrat of the Blood Race, he had a natural dislike for the sun.
Basking in the sun may be beneficial to a human wizard’s physical and mental health, but for vampires, it would only cause them blood surges and irritations.
The spectators started to stir quietly, everyone was surprised at Matthew’s hard-line attitude.
Although most of them still didn’t know what had happened, it didn’t stop them from making the right choices.
New students from Jiuyou and Alpha clearly stood on the lawn.
Tang Dun and another tall student from Alpha Academy stepped out from their respective teams and slowly walked towards the two students in the center of the field, trying to dissuade this inexplicable duel.
"For Honor!" Matthew glanced sideways at the two uninvited guests.
The new student from Alpha immediately halted, silently nodding. For the Alpha People, this reason was more than sufficient.
Tang Dun also stopped advancing.
He raised both hands in front of his shoulders, smiled bitterly, and called out, "You need witnesses and assistants!"
In a formal wizard duel, the dueling parties would invite a wizard with deep mana to act as a witness to ensure fairness. In addition, each duelist would bring a friend as an assistant. These assistants could help the injured duelist control the injury, and could also participate in the unfinished duel as a second dueler.
It has to be said that Tang Dun offered a very clever suggestion.
The monitor of Astronomy Class 08-1 didn’t want the situation to get out of control, so he made up his mind to try and delay the duel.
At least before finding a suitable witness and assistant, everyone could have sufficient reasons to restrain themselves.
But Matthew coldly rejected this suggestion.
"Not necessary." The young vampire remained emotionless, turned his head back to look at Andrew, and spoke for the third time, "If you still acknowledge what you have done, then draw your law book!"
However, the young wizard from the Taylor family just shrugged his shoulders in surprise, leaned back half a step.
This action was crystal clear.
He didn’t draw his law book as expected by his opponent.
He refused Matthew’s duel invitation.
Obviously, this rejection was more surprising to the spectators than accepting the duel. A buzzing discussion broke out among the crowd on both sides, everyone expressing their astonishment and shock.
"He actually refused!" Many new students from Alpha Academy voiced their surprise.
"He declined." The tone of the new students from Astronomy Class 08-1 was evidently more relaxed.
"This is a wise decision." Some people assessed very calmly.
"This is a disgrace to the Blood Race!" Many more expressed their heart-wrenching feelings about Andrew’s actions.
"He is the kid from the Taylor family...you know, ’that’ Taylor family." A few knowledgeable young wizards couldn’t wait to inform their friends about their insights.
This explanation quickly spread among Alpha’s students, many of them observing Andrew with discerning eyes, whispering to each other, their faces enlightened.
"Disgrace to the werewolves." Someone muttered softly.
Andrew’s ears twitched slightly, his face showing no expression.
Although he did not retaliate against the surrounding malicious discussions, he knew that he could not remain silent anymore.
He must do something too.
"This is the First University, not Caron Castle." Andrew finally spoke up.
The lawn suddenly returned to quiet.
Andrew’s words almost mirrored the warning Matthew initially gave him which reignited many people’s hopes.
Perhaps this young werewolf was not as bad as he initially showed.
"Perhaps, the people of Karen’s family don’t care about the rules of the school...but for the members of the Taylor family, nothing is more important than rules." Andrew looked at Matthew with a smile on his face and not a hint of humor in his eyes.
The young wizards who were watching immediately quieted down quite a bit.
Many slowly recalled the many provisions in the school regulations about private duels—most of the penalties involved suspension, and a few regulations even explicitly stated that in serious cases, the duel parties would be ordered to drop out.
And those who fail to report it would also bear certain joint responsibilities.
"We may need to forcibly stop them." Some uneasy freshmen began to discuss quietly.
Matthew faltered for a moment, his gaze lingering on the brilliant magic rings on Andrew’s fingers for a while.
Originally, he hadn’t intended to argue with this young werewolf.
But Andrew’s words forced him to consider the reputation of the Karen family at First University.
"Ridiculous!" The young vampire’s lips twisted into a mocking smile: "How dare the Taylor family, known as the rebel of the werewolf world, claim that rules are the most important!"
"The rules of werewolves are not the rules of the Taylor family." Andrew replied seriously, "I originally thought that on this point, we could have more common language."
Matthew fell silent again.
"The teacher is here!" A loud shout came from the distant hill, and the student on guard duty ran down the slope.
There was an uproar among the spectators.
"The teacher is coming! The teacher is coming!" Many people started to run anxiously back to their positions.
A few tall students, under Tang Dun’s guidance, rushed in front of Matthew, forming a human wall to block Andrew’s sight.
"The teacher is coming, line up first." Tang Dun, sweating profusely, tried to calm the excited crowd, and took the time to look at Matthew, "We will discuss this after class."
The tall young wizards then surrounded the aristocrat of the Blood Race and retreated into the Jiuyou Academy team.
The young vampire seemed to have never experienced such a scene.
"I can walk on my own." He struggled a bit.
The people next to him immediately left him some space to make him feel at ease.
When he raised his head, everyone looked at him with approving eyes.
This made the young aristocrat quite uncomfortable.
Then he saw Zheng Qing in the crowd.
"Stay away from her." Matthew quickly paced up, whispered a harsh warning in Zheng Qing’s ear.
After saying this, the young Blood Race felt much lighter all of a sudden.
Completely ignoring the bewildered look on the face of the Free Sect student behind him.
