As Nancy turned to the familiar, spiteful voice, her smile fell and she instinctively curled her hand tightly around her mate’s hand.

Koan growled a deep throaty growl when he felt his mate’s wolf whimper. There was only one woman who could make Nancy feel so dreadful and scared.

Her evil stepmother.

Without a doubt he knew it was her.

The others stepped back, thinking she was up to congratulate her daughter, but Royce, Cardin and Talia knew better and were just waiting to see Koan’s reaction when he learns that Nancy suffered physical, emotional and mental abuse from her.

Luna Angela, aware that more than a thousand people from all the packs in the werewolf territory had their eyes on them, decided this would be the right time and place to humiliate her step-daughter.

She couldn’t stand it. She couldn’t just sit down and watch this treacherous scene play out before her. This young woman was useless, disabled and didn’t even have a place in her pack. She didn’t deserve the medallion hanging around her neck, and she didn’t deserve to be happy.

Seeing Koan’s hand around hers, she felt her heart surge with anger and disgust.

Suddenly, she raised her hands and clapped. It was painfully slow, taking two seconds before she clapped again, a devilish smile on her face.

Since the entire place was quiet, her clap echoed around the levated platform.

In her black smoky eyes held mirth and mock as she clapped, and her charcoal colored hair bounced slightly as she made her way close to the pair.

"Don’t move a single step closer." Koan growled and Naomi finally turned to the woman again, this time with renewed interest. Who was this woman? And why did she seem to be a threat?

She exchanged glances with Daniel, and they seemed to communicate with their eyes for a few seconds before turning to scrutinize the woman.

The smirk on Luna Angela’s face failed to falter even as she slowly dropped her hand.

"Why? Are you restricting me from congratulating my dear daughter, Nancy," She smiled at Nancy with a fake loving expression in her eyes. Talia scoffed and Nancy glanced away. "Who do you think you are?" A sharp brow raised, she folded her arms.

"Ah... " Koan released his hand from his mate’s grip and inched forward, stretching his hand. "It’s natural for me to be cautious around strangers who come close to my mate." There were shocked gasps and murmurs around, and Luna Angela was left speechless.

Mirabel wanted the ground to swallow her up...

No. She wanted the ground to swallow Nancy up.. out of existence. Forever!!!

"My apologies Mother-in-law." There was that same mock smile on his face and a devilish expression in his eyes as his hand still lingered in the air. "Nice to meet you... "

Luna Angela stepped back, clearly avoiding his hand.

Koan, with the smile still on his face, slowly brought down his hand.

"She looks nothing like you... " He pointed out.

"That’s because she’s my stepdaughter Incase you haven’t noticed." She snapped at him before turning to Nancy.

"Nancy dear... is this a joke? Is he serious? Are you two really mates?" She didn’t wait for a reply before she dramatically held onto her forehead with half-closed eyes. "Darling... what did he tell you? Did he blackmail you... Did he force you to do this?"

Nancy’s jaw dropped and Koan’s eyes flashed in-between blue and dark gold as he restrained himself from Killing this woman.

The murmurs grew louder and Alpha Henry had to get up on stage.

"Angela! What is the meaning of this stunt you’re trying to pull?"

"But Henry." The woman just didn’t know when to give up. "You just heard he’s a hybrid. We all did. He’s part of that disgusting specie. We can’t let our daughter marry him."

"Excuse me." Naomi suddenly said, brows furrowing. "What disgusting species are you talking about?"

Luna Angela ignored her like she was just air, but before Naomi could move an inch forward, Axle held her back and when her highness turned to her, she slowly shook her head, signalling to her that there were little children amongst the crowd who wouldn’t want to see something which would traumatize them for the rest of their lives.

"Angela stop being ridiculous!" Alpha Henry growled at her.

"Henry for goddess’s sake, just take a good look at the man she wants to be with for the rest of her life... w...we can’t. We can’t let them be together... "

Nancy began clenching and unclenching her fists, tears of humiliation, hurt and anger brimming in her eyes.

"You know how gullible Nancy has been from the start. He must have brain washed her... you know how the Kitsunes are. They must have put a spell on her to believe they’re actually mates."

"That’s enough!!!" Someone beat Koan to it, and he turned to see Nancy coming at them with her aura radiating around her, sending Luna Angela to the floor without having to touch her.

Alpha Henry stepped back, staring at his daughter in bewilderment, wondering what sort of power she had to cause a Luna to drop to her knees so quickly.

"How dare you!!" Nancy growled and Luna Angela groaned as her head slowly dropped to the ground, but she tried fighting back the aura by clenching her fists.

Tears ran down her cheeks as she growled again before she said,

"You never believed I could get a mate who’d love me and accept me the way I am, because you think everyone’s just as evil and pathetic as you are!!"

"Argh!!!" Luna Angela groaned in pain, holding onto her head, but Nancy wasn’t done talking.

The elders were already making their move to stop them, but Talia and the others had already formed a circle around them, preventing them from interrupting.

Even the pack warriors from Ruby Stone’s were held back per Marcy’s command.

"You hate me. That’s all you’re good at. You’re not a good mother... you’re not a good Luna and you’re not a good wife either. You’re just great at torturing me and hating me. That’s all you’ve ever done, and I’m sure that’s how you feel right now... hatred. Pure livid hatred. " She held back on her aura a bit and Luna Angela finally glanced up.

Her black eyes suddenly widened when she saw the unmistakable mate mark on her neck, staring back at her.
