Help! My Male Employees Are Having Babies!
Chapter 76: Cotton Candy and Chemistry

Chapter 76: Cotton Candy and Chemistry

Elton had gone out and was coming back home late when his cycle started early. He was caught by a group of other Genmen and limped home bred by no less than eight of them. Charlie helped him through it, wiped his tears, fixed his scrapes, cleaned his vent for him, and placed him in bed.

Nine months later, after thirty-two hours of labor, Lex had to help the very large Ray into the world. During the process, he had pinched a nerve in Elton’s back, and he now walked with a limp.

The baby was hungry as usual. There was no way Elton could feed him enough—Ray weighed eighteen pounds when he was born and was still growing. Charlie sat down, put him on his gland, and fed the hungry child. Elton thanked his roommate for all his help with little Ray.

"Elton, when you go to make that big red bastard pay for his kid, he looks just like Red. He should be the one here with you, not me."

"Charlie, you know the rules. You get called to get bred, you’re on your own. It didn’t matter how many times I said no or how hard I struggled—it’s just life. Now I have to raise him." Elton’s voice carried resignation. "I know it’s the law, it’s life, but it isn’t fair to us."

"Well, Elton, maybe he should be bent over a stack of lumber and rammed up his vent and knocked up with a child to raise by himself," Charlie muttered. "It would serve him right."

"That’s enough about me and my troubles, Charlie. Look at you—damn, I almost didn’t recognize you when you walked in. Thought maybe a stranger had come by to visit, but then there was only me at home, so I knew there was no stranger."

Charlie looked around. "You really think I look that good?"

"Charlie, I have one word to say—damn. You are going to turn some heads tomorrow at that party, Genmen and Human." Elton didn’t know how right he was.

The North field was full. It looked like the whole town had turned out for the event, along with the Z1 ranch and the connecting Hawthorne ranch. Everyone was meandering around when Paul was up front with Ed and Carter, and a nice-looking man walked up. He introduced himself as Deeke Reynolds—a structural engineer for the Hawthorne firm and an old friend of Ed’s.

Deeke and Ed were making small talk when he looked out over the crowd and a certain somebody caught his eye. Deeke elbowed Ed. "Who the hell is that over there?"

"Who you talking about, Deeke?"

"The blonde guy with the blue shirt and those tight-ass jeans. I’ve got to meet that one. Must be one of the locals here from town—he’s not from the company and definitely not from one of the ranches."

Paul looked over to see who Deeke was making all the comments about, and it was none other than Charlie. Paul smiled. "I’ll go get him. I know who it is, and maybe you two can get to know each other."

Ed still didn’t know who Charlie was—he didn’t recognize him. Paul brought Charlie back up, and Ed finally realized it was Charlie. Deeke stuck his hand out to shake Charlie’s hand.

"Hello, my name’s Deeke. I work for Ed’s company—I’m his head structural engineer. I’m very pleased to meet you." Charlie nervously extended his hand and felt electricity when their hands touched.

Deeke took the opportunity and leaned in, kissing Charlie on his cheek. "I was always taught to compliment someone when they were truly ravishing."

Charlie had no comeback for that one.

Ed stepped in. "Deeke, I want you to meet Charlie. He works here on the Z1 for Paul in the electrical department."

Deeke was blown away—he had just kissed a Genman on his cheek, and he liked it.

Deeke looked at Charlie. "Are you a Genman for sure?"

Charlie smiled a megawatt smile and boasted with pride, "All my life."

This made Deeke even happier. He turned to Ed, his boss. "Well, it looks like I might need to get to know my new friend a little bit better. I think we’ll go for a little walk out here amongst the locals."

Deeke slid his arm underneath Charlie’s, placed his hand within Charlie’s, and looked at him. "Let’s go meet a few people. I want to know who you know, and I’ll even show you a few people I know and a few assholes you need to stay away from."

Charlie and Deeke made the rounds. Deeke hand-fed Charlie cotton candy, and they laughed as if they had known each other for eternity. Charlie felt comfortable with this human—he couldn’t believe that he wasn’t nervous. After all, this was a human male holding his arm and hand tightly, and they had been laughing and enjoying each other’s company for a couple of hours already.

Deeke asked Charlie where he lived on the ranch, and Charlie got a sinking feeling. Deeke sensed the difference in Charlie’s posture and stance.

"Charlie, that’s not what I’m asking. If you think I’m asking you to take me back to your place for a roll in the bedroom, that’s not going to happen. I just want to know where you live, to see how you live, that’s all. I don’t pick somebody up at a party expecting to take them back to bed so easily." His voice was reassuring. "Don’t worry—Ed would have my head on a stick. I just want to get to know you, to see if we do have a future together, because I want to see you again."

"Deeke, I have a roommate. His name is Elton, and he has a newborn, Ray. I would very much like to take a plate of food back to Elton since he’s not able to attend."

A concerned look came upon Deeke’s face. "Is he okay? Did everything go okay with the birth?"

"No, he pinched a nerve in his lower back. Even with physical therapy, they believe he’s going to walk with a limp. Poor guy—it was his first time giving birth, and the child was huge."

Deeke looked at Charlie and caressed his face. "Well, let’s make sure we get plenty of food for the young man. Got to keep his strength up for that baby."

"I may have to help feed him while we’re there because Elton doesn’t produce enough nectar for him. I’m going to have to uncover myself, so I hope you’re not grossed out by Genmen glands or a child nursing."

"Charlie, why would I be grossed out by a child nursing from a parent or a wet-nurse? It’s the most natural thing in the world, and it’s amazing that you would do this for your roommate."

"Deeke, I’m a Genman—that’s what we do. We help out where we can for our fellow Genman when they’re in trouble. We may not always get along, but when there’s a scrape, Genman come together."
