Chapter 60: Being Exchanged

Chapter 60: Being Exchanged

Riven didn’t understand why his body felt so heavy, why exhaustion wrapped around him like a thick fog. His limbs refused to move properly, his head lolled forward slightly, and his knees throbbed against the unforgiving cold floor. The sensation was eerily familiar—a forced sleep, a drugged haze.

"Damn it," Riven groggily thought. "Did I get knocked out again? That’s the second time this week. I swear, if this keeps happening, I’ll start losing brain cells. I can’t afford that—I need those." How else will he come up with ideas to trap all the hot men in this world?

Riven suspected that it was the food that caused this! Such cruelty!

A dull ache settled in his shoulders, and as he tried to stretch or shift, he was met with resistance. That’s when he realised: his arms were bound behind his back.

His shoulders will be stuck in place at this rate. They have been in the same position for about three days! Why couldn’t life give him a break!

Great. Just great.

On top of that, his vision was obscured by a blindfold, his mouth silenced by a thick cloth gag.

"Wow," he thought dryly. "The full package. Whoever did this really went all out."

As his senses sharpened, he picked up muffled voices. He strained to listen, recognizing the way one voice carried itself with sharp precision, how the other responded with practiced obedience.

Then he heard it—that voice.

"No... No way."

That smooth, magnetic, dangerously calm voice.

It sent a chill down his spine before he could stop himself.

Soran.

Soran was back.

Riven stiffened. It was like his presence could strike fear. He read about Soran in the story... A little too much, he was his second favourite character, ah, the yandere snow leopard, how could he not like him?

His heartbeat pounded in his ears as he forced himself to stay still. There was no use panicking—not yet. He had to assess, figure out where he stood.

Quite literally, he was on the floor.

And kneeling, no less.

"Ugh. Not a fan of this position," he grumbled internally. "It’s bad for my knees. Who even designed dungeons like this? Evil masterminds should invest in carpeting."

Then—footsteps.

Steady. Unhurried.

Each one echoed through the room, deliberate, like dripping water in a silent cave—a slow, torturous countdown.

Riven felt the presence before Soran even spoke. A shadow loomed closer, wrapping around him like a second skin.

Then, a sudden pressure at his chin.

Something cool—a long, wand-like object—tilted his face upward.

Despite being blindfolded, he could feel Soran’s gaze burning into him. He could hear the faint amusement in the way he breathed, the subtle shift of fabric as he adjusted his stance.

And then, finally, that silken, arrogant voice.

"Remove the blindfold and the cloth around his mouth."

Riven was about to exhale in relief—until Soran continued.

"Ronan would not appreciate the goods getting treated like this."

His ears perked immediately.

Wait.

Wait.

"What the actual hell did he just say?"

Riven’s thoughts screeched to a halt. He barely registered the rough hands untying the blindfold and gag because his mind was too busy malfunctioning.

"Ronan? Ronan’s goods? Excuse me?"

The moment the blindfold slipped away, Riven’s vision swam. His pupils adjusted to the dim candlelight, flickering shadows dancing on the stone walls. He gasped in fresh air, his jaw aching from being forcibly closed for who-knows-how-long.

But none of that mattered.

Because all he could think was:

Since when the hell did he belong to that dog?

His gaze snapped immediately toward Soran, whose smirk deepened at Riven’s reaction.

Amusement flickered in those cold, calculating eyes.

But there was something else too—something dangerous, something... possessive.

Before Riven could demand answers, before he could scream in outrage, he felt it—a sharp flick against his ears.

"Ow!"

A whimper escaped before he could stop it, his ears twitching violently. He glared up at Soran, half in shock, half in fury.

The bastard had used that damn wand to flick his ears.

Like he was some misbehaving pet.

For a second, Riven could only gape at him.

"Did this smug bastard just—?"

Soran let out a low chuckle, twirling the wand between his fingers.

"Your ears give you away too easily."

Riven scowled.

He wanted to bite him.

Hard.

Unfortunately, he was still very much tied up.

"Until Ronan takes ownership," Soran mused, his voice rich with lazy amusement, "you are still mine. And I can do whatever I want to you."

Riven stiffened, rage bubbling up.

"Oh, can you now?"

Oh, he had thoughts about that.

But before he could open his mouth and unleash a torrent of sarcasm, profanity, or both, he caught something in Soran’s expression.

That amusement—

It wasn’t just mockery.

It was annoyance.

Why?

Why was Soran annoyed?

Riven narrowed his eyes, ears twitching thoughtfully now.

"Wait a minute..."

Was it because of—?

Ronan?

Soran was known for not getting along with any of the other male leads. And that included Ronan. Riven could already guess what happened, that mean dog was looking for him and Soran had him captured, was he going to completely exploit that dog?

"You seem upset, Soran," Riven finally purred, tilting his head, feigning innocence. "Could it be... That you’re jealous?"

The sharp crack of the wand striking the floor beside him made him flinch.

Soran leaned in, gripping Riven’s chin firmly between his fingers.

"You are mistaken, little wolf," he murmured, voice silkier than venom.

Riven simply shrugged, that annoyed Soran more.

Then, slowly, Soran let go.

He turned, walking away, his presence still lingering like a storm cloud.

"You should be grateful, Riven," he mused. "Ronan seems to have taken an interest in you."

Riven snorted. "Yeah? What if I’m not interested in him?"

Soran glanced over his shoulder, and his smirk returned.

"Then you better prepare yourself."

His eyes gleamed. "He is paying a large amount in exchange for you."

Tsk. Riven was not interested in going back... Well, maybe a little but it was only because of his little bunny. He didn’t care about that dog.
