Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!
Chapter 230: Affected

Chapter 230: Affected

Leon could not believe what he had just heard from the steward. Riven was meeting his mother? What for?! He was walking towards his mother’s chambers when he saw the carriage from the window.

He wasn’t paying it much mind until he saw the figure stepping into it.

Riven.

Leon’s heart stumbled in his chest.

He didn’t move. Just stood there like he was rooted to the floor, hands falling limp by his sides. His brows pulled together in confusion as the carriage doors shut behind the raven-haired wolf, and the wheels creaked forward, carrying him out of the castle gates.

What the hell?

There had to be a mistake. Maybe it was someone else. Another wolf who also happened to have that same arrogant tilt to his chin. Same windswept black hair. Same annoying posture...

"He left?" Leon said aloud to no one, the question dumb with disbelief.

He turned away from the window with a sharp exhale and stormed off.

When he reached Riven’s room, he didn’t bother knocking. He flung the door open, already expecting to find the idiot mid-nap or plotting something mildly unhinged while eating grapes like a bored noble.

But the room was empty.

Bed made. Fireplace dimmed. Not even a scent lingering in the air. Not a single sarcastic wolf sprawled across the couch, making fun of his stiff posture.

Leon blinked again.

"What...?"

"Looking for Lord Riven?" a soft voice asked behind him.

The butler came out of nowhere yet again!

Leon turned to see the deer butler standing politely, arms folded behind his back, his expression as neutral as ever.

"Yes," Leon said, eyes narrowing. "Where is he?"

"He left the kingdom earlier this afternoon," the butler replied.

Leon stared at him.

"...What do you mean left the kingdom?"

The butler didn’t flinch. "He requested an urgent audience with the Dowager Queen, as I informed you, and after their discussion, he departed. He seemed in good spirits, though a bit... Rushed."

Leon felt his stomach twist. "He didn’t say anything?"

"Well, you would have to ask her highness, she asked me to summon the carriage. She would know the details." The butler explained. He just did not want to get involved in the royal affairs.

Why would Riven leave now?

He had two days left. Two. The Riven Leon knew would’ve milked the full deadline. He’d make himself as irritating and ever-present as possible, knowing exactly how to get under Leon’s skin.

But now he was just... gone?

Leon’s pace quickened as he stormed toward the East Wing. Toward the Queen’s private hall.

He wouldn’t just leave.

"Why did he leave?" Leon’s voice cut through the room, sharp and unyielding, bypassing any formalities or greetings.

The Dowager Queen turned, a hint of surprise flickering in her eyes before she composed herself, offering a serene smile. "Riven has expressed that there is nothing between you two. All is forgiven and forgotten."

Her words hung in the air, light and dismissive, as if they carried no weight. But to Leon, they landed like a blow to the chest. Forgiven and forgotten? The phrase echoed in his mind, each repetition provoked the growing anger in him.

She looked so genuinely happy, and for a fleeting moment, he wished he could share that joy, but the truth was that... He could not.

He clenched his fists, nails digging into his palms. The pain had grounded him to reality, his eyes turned red with anger, not sadness.

Leon prided himself on his self-awareness. He knew his ego was formidable, his pride even more so. And now, both had been bruised. Riven had left, not with a confrontation, not with a final word, but with a message relayed through his mother. It felt impersonal, cold... Like they were nothing.

He turned on his heel, leaving the room without another word, the Queen’s serene smile still etched in his mind. As he walked the corridors of the palace, memories of Riven surfaced, however, they did not feel sweet. Only bitterness remained. How dare he? How dare he treat him this way?

He used me. The thought crystallised in Leon’s mind. Riven had gotten what he wanted and left, leaving Leon to grapple with the aftermath. The realisation was a bitter pill to swallow.

But Leon was not one to wallow in self-pity. If Riven thought he could leave unscathed, he was sorely mistaken. Revenge began to take root, intertwining with his anger, giving him a reason to seek out Riven.

He considered his options. A direct confrontation was out of the question. Riven was now under the protection of both Soren and Ronan, formidable allies. But Leon knew that the most effective attacks were not always physical. Emotional wounds left deeper scars.

He would find a way to make Riven feel the same sense of betrayal, the same sting of abandonment. He would hit him where it hurt the most.

As he plotted, a plan began to form.

It would take time, patience, and precision. But Leon was willing to wait. The satisfaction of seeing Riven’s composed facade crumble would be worth it.

He returned to his chambers, the familiar surroundings offering little comfort. The room felt emptier now, the absence of Riven palpable. But Leon welcomed the void. It would serve as a constant reminder of his resolve.

Leon leaned against the cool, polished surface of his desk, staring out the window as the sun dipped below the horizon. His heart raced with a mix of anticipation and bitterness. The fading light cast deep shadows in the room, perfectly reflecting the turmoil within him.

He was going to seduce Riven. It wasn’t just about revenge, it was about showing Riven the pain he felt, the sting of abandonment. There were only thoughts about revenge in Leon’s mind, and as much as he thought he was self-aware, he was not.

He could not understand why Riven affected him so much. They only knew each other for a few days so why was he damn affected?
