Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!
Chapter 226: Incident

Chapter 226: Incident

Leon rolled his eyes at Riven, the playful glint in his gaze masking an underlying annoyance. He grabbed the plate of pancakes, warm and dripping with syrup, and held it away from Riven’s desperate grasp.

"Never mind, I will do it myself," he declared. A kiss each time he wanted a piece, no, that is extortion. This king would never let himself be taken advantage of... More than he already has.

Riven gasped dramatically, his eyes wide, "Noooo!" He lunged for the plate, but Leon deftly dodged him, manoeuvring despite being cornered against the bed’s headboard.

Riven’s heart raced, not just from the playful chase, but from the thrill of wanting to show Leon he could be a caring partner, someone who could take charge after their more intense moments. He wanted to prove to be a good top!

"Two more days till you lose your power over me," Leon remarked in a fairly serious tone while eating his pancakes. He faced Riven and continued, "Make sure to make it count."

Riven gasped again! Was Leon actually challenging him? A rush of surprise and excitement washed over him. The playful banter had always been a part of their relationship, but this was different. It was an invitation—one that lit a fire in Riven’s chest. He couldn’t help but smile. Oh, he would definitely make it count.

As Leon casually popped a piece of pancake into his mouth, Riven made his move. With a burst of energy, he lunged forward, aiming for Leon’s mouth. The sweet, buttery flavour of syrup filled Riven’s lips as he kissed him, delighting in the moment. Leon’s eyes widened in surprise.

Leon pulled back, a pout forming on his lips that was both adorable and infuriating. The king did not appreciate being interrupted.

Riven didn’t interrupt Leon anymore. He let Leon eat in peace. He was not going to tease Leon anymore. He will give him the space he wanted.

After a while, Riven made his way back to his room.

As he stepped inside, an unexpected sight greeted him. The butler, a deer with gentle eyes and a calm demeanor, placed a letter on his desk with an air of importance. "Oh? Who sent it?" Riven asked, his curiosity piqued.

The butler straightened, his expression serious. "My Lord, the messenger I dispatched returned with a letter from the intended recipient." After delivering the letter he left.

Riven frowned, the name that came to mind did not seem... Right. "Ronan sent this?" It couldn’t be. No, technically, he had sent the second letter to Troy, instructing him to deliver it to Ronan. Why would Ronan be writing to him now?

With a frown on his face he opened the letter, he felt a sense of panic for no specific reason. He just felt that something was off.

It was from Troy, and the message hit him like a punch to the gut: Ronan was sick. What?! Shock overcame him and for a moment he did not even know what to say. There were no details, just a desperate plea. Ronan had been muttering Riven’s name in his sleep, Troy asked him to return as soon as he could.

Ronan was unwell. He was miles away. He could not even be contacted... They could only reply to him when he sent them a letter. Riven did not know how long his poor mate had been suffering!

Was he going back? Of course, he was going back! His mate was sick, and nothing would keep him from doing so! Without another moment’s hesitation, he rushed to pack his things. The satchel lay open on the bed, waiting for him to fill it.

He looked at the bag. Then at the room. Then at himself.

"...Well," he muttered to no one in particular, "not like I have anything to pack."

He glanced down at his clothes. Yep, the same outfit he’d been wearing when he was literally kidnapped off the street and dropped into royal drama central.

After a moment of uselessly fluffing the bag as if that would make it look more full, he cleared his throat and peeked out the door.

And thankfully the ever reliable deer butler did not go too far.

"Excuse me!" Riven called, waving down the deer butler. "Could you let the Dowager Queen know I need to speak with her? Like... Urgently. Emergency-level, end-of-the-world kind of vibes."

The butler tilted his head. "Is everything alright, Sir Riven?"

"Define ’alright,’" Riven said, then caught himself. "Sorry. Yes. Sort of. No. Something came up and now I- I have to discuss some things with the Dowager Queen."

The butler blinked slowly, like he wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that. "I... shall inform Her Majesty at once."

"Thanks, you’re a gem," Riven said, giving the poor butler a thumbs-up like this was a completely normal situation.

As the butler disappeared down the corridor, Riven looked back at his empty bag and sighed. He really needed to stop getting roped into kingdoms and castles. And seriously should stop getting kidnapped.

Maybe after this, he’d keep a "just in case I’m abducted again" emergency kit. But first—he had to go save his mate.

In his haste to meet the dowager queen before his departure, Riven completely forgot about Leon. The urgency of the situation consumed him and he could not think of anything else.

The grand chamber where the dowager queen awaited was adorned with tapestries that depicted the history of their kingdom, each thread woven with tales of bravery and heartache. It was beautiful and she chose this place for a reason. Peace was something she was after.

"My Lord," she greeted, the corners of her mouth lifting in a gentle smile. "I believe you have some urgent news?"

Riven stepped forward, his expression earnest. "Your Majesty, I need to leave immediately. There’s been a situation with Ronan, he’s unwell, and I must return to him."

The dowager queen’s demeanor shifted slightly, concern replacing the warmth in her eyes. "I see. And what of the incident with Leon?"
