Chapter 214: Riding Lesson

Chapter 214: Riding Lesson

Riven cleared his throat. "You know what, I have tasks ready for you."

The thing about lion shifters is that, unlike wolf shifters, they do not care about ’pride about being lions’ the same way that wolves do.

They were lions, they were superior, sure, and because they were superior, their forms as lions were precious, thus they would not shift in front of anyone. They used horses for transportation.

Riven spent the better part of his morning pretending not to watch Leon avoid him and act suspicious. He was not going to let this man leave.

Leon paused, tilting his head. He raised an eyebrow, one corner of his mouth quirking into a half-smile. "Tasks?"

"Mm-hmm." Riven crossed his arms, planting his feet like an immovable wall. "You’ve strutted around long enough. Time to do something useful."

Leon rolled his eyes. He just wanted to leave. He did not want to be this half-wolf right now. The memories of last night kept his mind occupied, he did not... He did not want to remember, but he had no choice. He remembered how Riven touched him... Touched his body with his lips and hands.

And the main event of the night, he begged Riven to help him out, and Riven obliged. He... He went down and him... And made him cum. He never thought that even in his most desperate moment, he would orgasm because of... A man!

He was going to find the person who did this to him, and when he did- They will experience the full extent of his wrath.

"Hello?" Riven called out to him. He shook his head, he was probably devising plans to get out of this, wasn’t he? Riven remained firm. He might not have remembered what happened last night, but he was going to remember what would happen now.

"Yes. Yes. What is that task?" Leon asked with his jaw tight. He was hiding his frustration.

Riven’s lips twitched. "You’re going to teach me how to ride."

Leon blinked. "Ride what?" He almost blushed at the other implication of riding!

"A horse."

"Yup... A horse... Of course... But is that necessary?"

"Critical," Riven deadpanned. "Especially if you ever plan to travel outside the castle without looking like a complete fool."

Leon muttered something about royal carriages, but Riven had already turned on his heel, his tail swishing with a kind of victory that he hadn’t tasted in a while. His tail seemed like a banner declaring his victory.

Left with no choice, Leon followed, their footsteps echoing against the cobblestone as they made their way to the stables.

Though on the way, he got thinking,g and there was a flicker of disbelief followed by the most self-satisfied smirk Riven had ever seen. "You don’t know how to ride?"

"Didn’t grow up with acres of land and a private stable, Your Majesty. Plus, you should know that wolves prefer to travel in their natural form. So riding horses is unheard of." Riven explained.

"And you don’t want to travel in your natural form?" Leon asked with curiosity, he did not intend to mock.

Riven scoffed and turned his head to give a sly look, "Of course not, I need to protect my beautiful fur. And me shifting and running? No, I am too delicate for that. I want to travel by carriage or a horse."

Leon froze for a second and suppressed a laugh. No, he did not think he would find someone as narcissistic as him. And while others would find that trait annoying, Leon did not, it was quite relatable to him.

Together, they made their way to the stables. The air grew warmer as they entered the timber-framed building, filled with the earthy scent of hay, the soft rustle of horses shifting in their stalls, and the creak of old leather. Morning light slanted in through the slats, casting golden stripes along the straw-strewn ground.

Riven enjoyed this scene, it felt like it was straight out of a fairytale.

Leon led the way, confident and comfortable in the environment. He stopped beside a tall bay mare with a fiery mane and an intelligent gaze. "Her name’s Embermane," he said, patting her neck fondly. "She’s a good girl—spirited, but patient. Perfect for a beginner."

"Is there a level lower than beginner?" Seeing the huge horse, Riven was now filled with doubt. Maybe he was biting off more than he could chew here.

"Do you want to ride or not?" Leon asked with annoyance.

Riven muttered something about annoying kings, but watched closely as Leon began fitting the saddle. His movements showed years of practice, quick, he was careful, did not rush, but sure of what he was doing. Riven absorbed every motion with a soldier’s discipline, his brow furrowed slightly in concentration.

He was not going to make a fool of himself. Nope!

Once Embermane was saddled, Leon offered the stirrup. "Foot here. Use the pommel to steady yourself. Don’t swing like you’re jumping onto your mate. Grace, Riven. Grace."

Right... Mate. Riven already had a mate. And another lover. To him, it was nothing special,l right? So he should just think of it as the same. Nothing special. Last night was nothing special. It was common, well, not for him, but for Riven. So he did not have to overthink.

Leon tried his best to push all his uncomfortable feelings aside and act normal. He could not let that wolf know that he was affected.

"I’ll show you grace," Riven muttered, but he obeyed, climbing up with a slight grunt and an audible clink of armour. He adjusted awkwardly, trying to find his balance.

"Not the worst form. It’s acceptable." Leon muttered. He was not going to loudly compliment Riven. But he could accept that he was a natural. Maybe because he was so used to straddling other men... Leon hated this feeling.1

Leon grabbed the reins and mounted behind him. "Nope. I’m not trusting you up there alone on the first try." He scowled, then tried to hide his feelings of... Frustration? Anger? He did not know.
