Chapter 87: Teasing
"Lin Feng, who had been about to enthusiastically ask more questions about the system’s previous owner, suddenly paused.
Although he didn’t fully understand why Chen Li would say something like that, he also quickly recognized the importance of being vigilant as he nodded his head, looking a bit apologetic.
’That’s right. Sorry, Old Chen. I guess I just got a bit too excited,’ Feng said, scratching his head awkwardly.
He glanced back at Chen Mei, who also had a guilty look on her face."
Guess this girl really does wear her heart on her sleeve—you can basically tell what she’s thinking just by her expression.
’I’m sorry, Uncle Chen. You’re right. It’s just been a long time since I’ve had this much fun talking with someone,’ Chen Mei replied, looking nervous, like a kid about to get scolded.
"Aigh, sometimes I forget that both of you are just kids. It’s normal to be curious about things you don’t understand, but it’s also important to realize the correct time and place to talk about sensitive topics," Chen Li replied, trying to ease the tension as he looked specifically at Chen Mei.
"Little girl, I know you just got a bit excited. Don’t worry—you and your new friend here can talk as much as you want once we get back to Silverpine City," Chen Li said, glancing between Lin Feng and Chen Mei with a teasing expression.
It was something between a smirk and a laugh, like a member of the senior generation giving his blessing to the young folks.
What?? Is there something going on that I don’t understand? Or am I just dumb?
Feng wore a confused expression on his face—clearly, this was the first time he had ever experienced being teased by a member of the older generation.
Maybe if I ask Chen Mei...
He turned toward Chen Mei, opening his mouth to ask her another question when he suddenly heard a stomp on the ground, causing a slight rumble.
Startled, he quickly looked up and realized it was Chen Mei, who had an adorable expression on her face. She looked both annoyed and embarrassed as she quickly spoke.
"Uncle Chen!! You know it’s not like that! This guy has something going on with Elena!" Chen Mei blurted out, desperately trying to change the topic and end the conversation as quickly as possible.
Something going on with Elena? What? What’s going on with Elena?
Feng once again wore a look of confusion as he glanced between Chen Mei and Chen Li, trying to figure out what they were talking about.
Maybe I just lack the necessary social skills to understand this.
Shaking his head, he heard Chen Mei continue speaking.
"We should go back to Silverpine City now. Chen Zi has probably already returned to the Chen Clan, so we should start heading back too."
Chen Mei tried her best to keep her voice calm as she glanced at Lin Feng out of the corner of her eye, trying to gauge his reaction.
Unfortunately for her, Lin Feng was thinking of something entirely different.
His demeanor shifted abruptly as a cold, murderous aura began to radiate from his body—he had just remembered something he hadn’t dealt with yet.
Chen Mei, Chen Li, Huang Bei, and even the two Yao brothers froze, their gazes following Lin Feng’s toward the spot he was staring at.
Why is this damn toad still alive?!
Feng thought to himself, rage burning in his eyes as he recalled the life-and-death situation he had faced earlier due to Yi Bei’s Emerald Poison.
Although I don’t know why that bastard Chen Yang left him here, this is clearly an opportunity to cut the weeds at the roots.
He began walking toward Yi Bei, who lay sprawled on the ground, unconscious, with blood pouring from his body.
His injuries had worsened due to the Nethersoul Poison flaring up inside him, triggered by Chen Yang.
Darksilver spiritual energy burst from Feng’s body, and a powerful suppressive force began to seep out, making the air heavy.
Everyone nearby felt suffocated, as if they were no longer facing a human but a spiritual beast.
"I knew this guy was strong when he was fighting Yi Bei earlier, but I was still pretty far away to understand how strong. But now that I’m just a few steps away from him..." Huang Bei muttered in shock.
Clearly, even though he had expected Feng to be powerful, he hadn’t anticipated this level of strength.
"I’m pretty sure I would lose convincingly against this guy, even though he’s only at the 6th level of Qi Condensation!" Huang Bei said, his expression solemn.
"That’s right, Big Bro Huang! You should’ve seen it when he killed those bandits earlier—they were basically no match for him!" Yan Hao exclaimed, looking excited.
"Yeah! He killed three people at the sixth level and one at the seventh level of Qi Condensation all on his own!" Yan Li added, equally excited.
Huang Bei was stunned.
Even though he could probably achieve something similar, he was certain that, at the very least, he would be injured if he tried—and he would be much slower in doing so.
Chen Mei, watching the scene unfold, no longer seemed surprised.
She clearly remembered her first confrontation with Lin Feng, when he had displayed this same kind of suppressive force.
"I guess there’s something unique about his cultivation technique," Chen Mei thought to herself as her eyes gleamed with interest.
Her inner bookworm was beginning to emerge as she carefully observed the intricacies of Lin Feng’s abilities.
What was particularly unique about this situation was that all of them understood what Lin Feng was about to do—yet no one tried to stop him.
While Chen Yang was the mastermind behind everything, the one who had inflicted the most direct harm on them was, without question, Yi Bei.
If I don’t kill you right now, then I won’t be Lin Feng!
Feng’s eyes gleamed with murderous intent as he began gathering spiritual energy in his right hand.
His claws slightly extended, resembling sharp blades poised to strike.
