Chapter 71: Poison Spirit Body

When Lin Feng and the others heard Chen Yang’s reaction, they all looked up in unison and saw the girl protecting them.

Yan Hao and Yan Li audibly gulped at the sight of her figure.

"Is this the angel meant to take us to the afterlife?" Yan Hao muttered, mesmerized.

"Even if she leads me to the Yellow Springs, I’ll go with her... if she looks that beautiful," Yan Li added, staring dumbfounded.

Huang Bei, on the other hand, wore a grimace on his face.

He clearly understood the severity of the situation, realizing that the two most powerful geniuses of the current generation of the Chen Clan were present.

"This situation is starting to spiral out of control.

I can’t believe even the young miss is here. Old Man Chen Li must have pulled some strings within the Chen Clan, asking for backup, and the young miss was the closest person able to assist."

Meanwhile, Lin Feng was thinking something entirely different from the rest.

He began comparing his own cultivation base to these young geniuses, who kept showing up in front of him.

These guys are around my age, yet they’re all close to reaching the 12th level of Qi Condensation. Is there something I’m missing here?

[Responding to host: The host was stuck at the third level of Qi Condensation for a couple of years. Yet, within the span of a few weeks, the host broke through and reached the sixth level. Compared to these people, the host is much more of a genius.]

When Feng heard the system’s response, he suddenly realized that what it said was true.

Considering everything that had happened to him so far, and how much stronger he had become in such a short time, he wasn’t doing so badly after all.

"Thanks, system. That actually cheered me up," Feng said aloud, feeling a bit better after meeting all these so-called "geniuses."

[It was not my intention to cheer up the host. The system is only stating objective truth.]

Feng smiled to himself before suddenly remembering the situation he was in.

He looked up at the person currently protecting them.

"If you can be here, why can’t I, Chen Yang? Do you own this place? Is your name written here somewhere?" The girl, Chen Mei, spoke sarcastically, her words laced with disdain.

She then glanced at the Frostvenom Python that Chen Yang was riding on, bowing her head slightly before speaking with sincerity.

"I pay my respects, Senior Frost. I hope you can be impartial and allow the younger generation to handle their own matters."

Chen Mei’s eyes locked on the powerful spiritual beast, and Senior Frost, who clearly thought highly of her, paused for a moment.

After a brief consideration, he nodded in agreement with her suggestion.

"You damn wench, do you know what you’re doing right now?" Chen Yang spat through gritted teeth, his frustration clear.

His face twisted with anger at the unexpected interruption by Chen Mei.

"Of course, I’m protecting Elder Chen Li from being killed by one of your father’s subordinates. Or does Elder Chen Baole no longer care about etiquette?" Chen Mei’s voice was sharp, her anger palpable.

She was like a hot pepper, ready to explode—almost the complete opposite of Elena, who was generally calm and collected.

"Damn it, how did you even find out about this? Weren’t you going back to Brightshore Academy for the annual entrance examination?" Chen Yang spoke with indignation, clearly unwilling to engage directly with Chen Mei.

Lin Feng, listening in on their conversation, quickly picked up on the underlying tension.

"If you’re wondering why someone as arrogant as Chen Yang is backing off completely and not even attempting to fight the young miss, the reason is simple," Huang Bei spoke with awe.

"For anyone who uses poison in their techniques, the young miss is their Achilles’ heel. She’s basically invincible within the Qi Condensation stage at this point."

Huang Bei’s words were full of reverence, a reminder that, in the cultivation world, strength always triumphed, regardless of gender.

When Lin Feng heard this, his eyes narrowed, and he quickly followed up with a question.

"Why is that? Does she have some special technique?"

"She does, but that’s not the main reason. The real reason is that she has the Poison Spirit Body,"

Huang Bei said seriously, his voice tinged with fear. It was clear that even he was intimidated by this person’s strength.

"Poison Spirit Body? What is that?" Feng asked, his curiosity piqued.

He had never heard of such a thing before.

"Before I answer that, you need to understand what a spirit body is," Huang Bei began, his tone informative.

"As we all know, for a human to start cultivating, they must form a contract with the Heavenly Dao. This contract manifests as the Heaven’s Pact, which is at the core of our cultivation system."

Lin Feng nodded. This concept was very clear to him, as someone who had once been a Broken Soul and went through all of the struggles faced by a person who couldn’t ever cultivate, he understood the importance of having a Heaven’s Pact, and what happens if you didn’t have one.

"Well, a spirit body is like a gift from the Heavenly Dao," Huang Bei explained, his voice tinged with a bit of envy.

"It allows certain individuals to absorb spiritual energy from the world at a much faster rate, making them absolute geniuses compared to others of their age."

"What the hell? So the Heavenly Dao does have its favorites?" Feng muttered, frustration evident in his voice.

He then quickly asked, "Wait, so is a spirit body different from a Heaven’s Pact?"

"Yes, it’s different," Huang Bei nodded.

"Then... is it possible to cultivate without a Heaven’s Pact, but with just a spirit body?" Feng asked, the question that immediately came to mind after hearing the explanation.

If this spirit body is a gift from the heavens, doesn’t that mean that there are some people in this world that can cultivate even without a Heaven’s Pact?
