Heavenly Rebellion: The Human Race's Rise to Prominence -
Chapter 45: Departure
Chapter 45: Departure
After everything was cleaned up, Feng was finally ready to leave.
Before departing, he took some of the remaining meat from the Red-Tipped Brown Boar that he hadn’t finished, ensuring he had food for his journey.
Feng also made sure to bring enough fresh water.
Using the surrounding trees, he fashioned a makeshift water bottle and filled it with water from a nearby river.
Once everything was prepared, he looked up at the Blackwood Ruler for the last time in quite a while.
"Senior, I’ll be going now. Thank you for taking care of me all this time," Feng said solemnly, bowing his head once again.
The Blackwood Ruler, though clearly reluctant to part, understood that Feng needed to leave. Raising its head, it let out a powerful howl—
AWOOOO!!!!
A mighty sound spread throughout the Blackwood Forest, reverberating from the center all the way to its fringes.
All the spiritual beasts trembled in fear.
They did not know why the Blackwood Ruler was howling in this manner, but they knew it could not be a good omen.
Instinctively, they lowered their heads in submission.
Feng understood that this was the Blackwood Ruler’s way of bidding him farewell.
He did not ask the Blackwood Ruler to escort him out of the forest—if he still needed such assistance after all the aid he had already received, then he would not be worthy of the strength he had gained.
With that, Feng finally departed from the Ruler’s territory.
This time, instead of heading back toward Raincloud Village—the path he had taken when he fought those Black Blood Komodo Dragons—he chose the opposite direction.
He knew that if he walked far enough, he would eventually leave the forest and begin approaching the territory of Silverpine City.
As Feng walked through the Blackwood Forest, he reflected on his journey thus far—from the moment he was cast out of Raincloud Village to when he first obtained the system and formed his Heaven’s Pact.
He recalled being chased and attacked by Yuta, coming face-to-face with Elder Zhou once more, and finally being saved by the Blackwood Ruler, where he underwent grueling training.
"This is the beginning of my new life. From this point on, I, Lin Feng, will never let anyone look down on me ever again!" Feng declared to himself, his resolve unwavering.
He knew there was still much about the world he did not understand, and countless challenges surely lay ahead. But this time, things were different.
He would no longer wait for the heavens to grant him pity or fortune—he would carve out his own path to strength with his own two feet.
Although the Blackwood Ruler’s lingering aura deterred most spiritual beasts from approaching him, after roaming the forest for several hours, he was bound to run into a few ignorant fools who did not know their place.
ROOAR!!
Right before Feng stood six massive spiritual beasts.
Three of them were at the 5th level of Qi Condensation, two were at the 6th level, and their leader—undoubtedly the strongest—radiated the unmistakable aura of the 7th level of Qi Condensation.
All of them were gorilla-like creatures with dark fur, yet their eyes gleamed with a sinister red light.
Their faces, flushed crimson like those of enraged baboons, left no doubt as to what they were.
Red-Faced Gorillas—one of the more powerful groups of spiritual beasts within the Blackwood Forest.
However, they were rarely seen near Raincloud Village, as their territory lay on the opposite side of the forest.
Feng remained calm as he gazed at the six gorillas, who were clearly seething with aggression.
It seemed he had unknowingly encroached upon their territory, offending them enough that they had gathered en masse to confront him.
"Hmm, now that I have my own version of the Alpha Wolf’s Domain, I don’t really need to study pack-type spiritual beasts anymore," Feng murmured to himself as the creatures encircled him.
Noticing that Feng appeared utterly indifferent to their presence, the leader of the gorillas let out a savage roar, its voice reverberating through the trees in an attempt to intimidate him.
It was likely trying to scare him off.
However, Feng had a feeling that if he turned to flee, the gorillas would see it as a sign of weakness and immediately launch an attack from behind.
"Well, I suppose this is a good chance to test the strength of my Alpha Wolf’s Domain," Feng muttered, his eyes narrowing.
Circulating his Blackwood Dominance Art, a powerful pressure erupted from his body.
The air around him suddenly stilled, and the trees trembled under the invisible force.
His eyes turned a dull, eerie gray, as if he had ceased to be human and transformed into a true apex predator.
The moment the Red-Faced Gorillas sensed the overwhelming presence emanating from him, all three at the 5th level of Qi Condensation began to tremble.
Their eyes widened in sheer terror, their expressions frozen as if they had just seen a ghost.
At that moment, they no longer saw Feng as a mere human—but as a beast far beyond their own in the hierarchy.
The 6th level gorillas also began to panic, though they fared better than their weaker counterparts.
While fear was evident in their eyes, it was overshadowed by rage as they bared their fangs and snarled aggressively.
The 7th level Red-Faced Gorilla, however, remained largely unfazed.
It seemed as though the Alpha Wolf’s Domain had little to no effect on it.
Beating its chest with thunderous force, it flexed its powerful muscles, attempting to intimidate Feng in return.
"Hmm, so my Alpha Wolf’s Domain is only fully effective against beings at a lower level than myself," Feng mused.
"If they’re at my level, it still has some effect, but they can resist it. As for those at a higher level... they probably won’t feel anything at all."
Although he was slightly disappointed by this realization, he understood that it was only natural.
If his Alpha Wolf’s Domain could suppress even those stronger than him, it would be far too overpowered.
"Whatever," Feng muttered. "My Alpha Wolf’s Domain isn’t just for suppression—it also strengthens all of my abilities."
His eyes sharpened as he shifted into a battle stance, ready for the fight to begin.
