Chapter 141: A Vow

Wei Chuan screamed like a pig awaiting slaughter, his agonized howls echoing through the air.

If one looked closely, faint patches of purple had begun to spread across his skin—a telltale sign of the Nethersoul Poison ravaging his body.

His limbs convulsed uncontrollably, and his once-proud demeanor had crumbled into sheer, unbridled terror.

That must be the Nethersoul Poison at work...

Lin Feng shivered as realization struck him—this was one of the most powerful cultivators he had ever encountered in his life.

Yet, Grandma Qing had incapacitated him and several others without so much as lifting a hand, her mere presence enough to render them helpless.

The sheer disparity between himself and the truly powerful people of this world had never been clearer.

A fire ignited within him, a desperate longing to one day wield that same overwhelming strength.

"AHHHH! HELP ME!!" Wei Chuan’s shrieks grew more frantic, his voice hoarse with desperation as he felt his soul unravel under the poison’s relentless assault.

The agony was unbearable, his every nerve set ablaze, and he knew—if nothing was done, death was inevitable.

"Enough, Chen Qing," a voice cut sharply through the chaos, commanding instant attention. "The High Inquisitor has already passed judgment on this matter.

We will compensate you for this transgression—but surely, taking the life of one of our own is unnecessary, is it not?"

WHOOSH!

A figure materialized out of thin air—a white-haired elder with a long, flowing beard.

Despite his advanced age, his powerful physique exuded an undeniable sense of strength, his presence alone enough to send waves of pressure rippling through the surroundings.

The moment Chen Qing saw him, her grin twisted into something far more sinister, her gaze brimming with malice.

Rather than backing down, she raised a single finger, and a thin beam of violet light shot from its tip, piercing straight into Wei Chuan’s forehead.

BOOM!

"Chen Qing!! You dare?!" Wei Sheng’s roar of fury shook the air, his palm snapping up as a dark yellow barrier of light surged around the gathered Wei Clan cultivators.

But he had miscalculated—he had never expected her to be so brazen, to strike even in his presence. His reaction came a fraction too late, and the purple beam struck true.

"Hehe, Wei Chuan, was it?" Chen Qing chuckled, her voice dripping with venom.

"If you ever dare to lay a hand on a member of the Chen Clan again, the Nethersoul Poison embedded in your soul will erupt, and I promise you—the pain alone will make you beg for death."

"And if you’re foolish enough to kill one of ours..." She leaned in slightly, her cold smile deepening.

"The poison will finish the job for me."

Her words hung in the air like an executioner’s blade, each syllable brimming with cruel amusement.

"Or what? Did you truly think you’d walk away unscathed after trying to murder my grandaughter?"

Wei Chuan could no longer answer. His body convulsed one last time before collapsing, his mind succumbing to the unbearable torment as unconsciousness finally claimed him.

Wei Sheng’s eyes burned with barely contained rage, his fingers twitching as though restraining the urge to strike.

He wanted nothing more than to retaliate, but even he knew that Wei Chuan had acted recklessly.

Under Chen Qing’s watchful eyes, there was no room for righteous fury, no justification for revenge. His teeth ground together as his gaze shifted away from the Chen Clan and landed—

Oh shit, is he looking at me?!

Lin Feng stiffened as an overwhelming force locked onto him, his entire body trembling as if his very cultivation base was on the verge of collapse.

The Frostvenom Python beneath him let out a distressed hiss, its massive body writhing in discomfort under the suffocating pressure.

Even breathing became a struggle. If not for Grandma Qing’s presence shielding him, that gaze alone would have crushed him in an instant.

"You’re Lin Feng, aren’t you?" Wei Sheng’s voice was cold, laced with unbridled fury.

"Even Chen Qing wouldn’t dare to kill a member of my Wei Clan outright... but you—an outsider—dared to lay hands on one of us, you even harmed my grandson."

"Did you truly believe you could walk away unscathed?"

His meaning was clear—he couldn’t touch the Chen Clan under these circumstances, but Lin Feng? Lin Feng was fair game.

Lin Feng wanted to speak, to protest, but the sheer pressure bearing down on him was suffocating.

His bones groaned under the immense force, and the injuries he had fought so hard to suppress flared up once more, sending lances of agony through his body.

Just as his vision began to blur, Chen Mei suddenly tore free from Grandma Qing’s grasp and stepped in front of him, her fiery gaze locking onto Wei Sheng.

"You old bastard! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!" she snapped, her temper igniting in an instant.

Seeing Lin Feng battered and struggling once again only fueled her rage further, her hands clenched into trembling fists.

Chen Qing’s expression barely shifted at her granddaughter’s outburst.

She merely cast Lin Feng a brief glance before letting out a quiet sigh and lifting her hand.

In an instant, the suffocating pressure vanished as though it had never existed.

The sudden release left Lin Feng drained, his body going limp as he collapsed onto the Frostvenom Python’s back, his breathing ragged and uneven.

The sheer force of a single gaze had nearly crushed him. His mind screamed in frustration.

FUCK!! THAT BASTARD ALMOST KILLED ME!!

A violent surge of murderous intent flared in his eyes, but he forced it down, swallowing his rage. Now was not the time.

His cultivation base was still far too weak, and acting on his emotions would only hasten his death.

Instead, he clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug into his palms, his thoughts seething with the weight of his humiliation.

The Wei Clan... One day, I’ll make every single one of you pay for this!!!

In all of his life, this was the most amount of anger that Lin Feng had felt, in fact it wasn’t even comparable!
