Chapter 140: Overwhelming Power (2)

When Lin Feng finally recognized the newcomer, his mind went blank for a moment.

It’s that grandma we met at the brothel! But wasn’t she fighting in the sky? What happened with that?

His gaze flickered to the white-haired old woman standing before them.

The last time he had seen her, she had been locked in a battle so intense that even witnessing it from a distance had made his blood run cold.

Yet now, she stood here, completely unscathed, as if the battle had never happened.

Before Lin Feng could process it further, a sudden movement caught his eye.

Chen Mei’s expression lit up with pure joy the instant she saw the old woman.

Without hesitation, she rushed forward, throwing herself into her arms.

"Grandma Qing! Are you okay? What happened to your fight with Wei Yuntai?" she asked anxiously, her hands instinctively patting the old woman’s robes as if searching for any sign of injury.

The white-haired elder chuckled softly, her wrinkled face radiating warmth as she gently stroked Chen Mei’s hair.

"Don’t worry," she said in a clear, measured voice. "I just gave him a small lesson. Our fight was cut short because someone intervened."

Lin Feng’s heart skipped a beat.

Someone was able to stop a fight between those two monsters? Who in the world could possibly be strong enough to do that?

Though his mind buzzed with questions, he forced himself to remain silent, choosing instead to observe the aftermath of Grandma Qing’s arrival.

The first thing he noticed was Wei Chuan. Or rather, where Wei Chuan had been.

A massive crater marred the earth where he once stood.

The man himself was gone, buried deep beneath the shattered ground. Lin Feng couldn’t even tell if he was alive or dead.

A cold shiver ran down his spine.

Guess Grandma Qing made sure to hit him extra hard.

Shifting his gaze, he took in the rest of Wei Chuan’s subordinates.

The Foundation Establishment cultivators who had accompanied him were in various states of disarray.

One of them groaned in pain, clutching at broken limbs, while another struggled to push themselves upright.

One in particular—the halberd-wielding cultivator—had been driven into the ground almost as violently as Wei Chuan.

Unlike his leader, however, he had already begun to stagger back to his feet.

So he also has a spiritual artifact...

Lin Feng then turned his attention to the Qi Condensation cultivators. Their condition was far worse.

Some lay sprawled across the ground, moaning in pain, while others had crashed into nearby trees, their bodies twisted at odd angles.

A few clutched shattered arms, their bones bent in ways they were never meant to bend.

Blood painted the battlefield, yet despite the overwhelming force of Grandma Qing’s attack, Lin Feng realized something unsettling.

None of them are dead...

His brows furrowed.

Grandma Qing’s strength was undeniable.

With a single attack, she had crushed an entire squad of cultivators, yet she had chosen to spare their lives. Not out of mercy—no, this was intentional. A warning.

A demonstration of absolute power.

Lin Feng swallowed hard, his attention snapping back toward the crater.

The ground trembled.

Then, with a deafening explosion of snow and soil, Wei Chuan erupted from the earth.

His robes were torn and bloodied, his once-pristine appearance now marred by dirt, bruises, and open wounds.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, staining his chin as he gasped for breath. Despite his battered state, his fury remained undiminished.

"WHO DARES TO AMBUSH ME, WEI CHUAN?! DO YOU KNOW WHO I—"

His enraged bellow was abruptly cut off.

Wei Chuan’s breath hitched as his eyes darted around, taking in the devastation.

All of the cultivators that arrived with him lay in ruin.

Not a single one had escaped unscathed.

A sinking dread crept into his chest, and for the first time since the battle began, true fear flickered across his face. His heartbeat quickened, his mouth suddenly dry as he slowly raised his gaze.

And then, he saw her.

The old woman stood there, holding Chen Mei as if she were nothing more than a concerned grandmother embracing her beloved granddaughter. Her expression was calm—almost indifferent—but Wei Chuan wasn’t fooled.

He could feel it.

Beneath that composed façade, a storm of barely restrained fury simmered.

Then, she spoke.

"It was me who ambushed you. What are you going to do about it?"

Her tone was neutral. Casual, even.

Yet the underlying threat was razor-sharp, daring him to act.

Wei Chuan shivered. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as his mind raced for a way out.

Then, forcing an ingratiating smile onto his face, he quickly bowed, ignoring the sharp pain that shot through his body.

"O-of course not, esteemed one," he stammered.

"This young one wouldn’t dare. I simply didn’t expect Chen Zi to be unable to protect a single Qi Condensation cultivator... I lost control of my strength as a result."

Chen Zi’s expression darkened.

A vein bulged in his temple as he clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. Wei Chuan’s words dripped with mockery, shifting the blame onto him in a way that left no room for rebuttal.

Rage burned in his chest. He was on the verge of snapping back when he noticed something—Grandma Qing had yet to respond.

Forcing himself to take a deep breath, he held his tongue, deciding to see how she would react.

He didn’t have to wait long.

A slow, chilling smile spread across Grandma Qing’s face.

"Hoh? So you think it’s our fault that my granddaughter almost died?"

Wei Chuan’s smug expression stiffened.

A sudden, bone-deep chill ran down his spine as the old woman’s aura shifted.

It was suffocating.

His instincts screamed at him to run—to beg—to do anything but stand there. He tried to open his mouth to explain, to backpedal—

BOOM!

A deafening shockwave erupted outward, engulfing the battlefield in an overwhelming surge of spiritual energy.

The sheer force of it pressed down like a mountain, suffocating everyone present.

Even the Foundation Establishment cultivators found themselves unable to move, their spiritual energy completely suppressed beneath Grandma Qing’s terrifying cultivation base.

Wei Chuan, the very cause of this disaster, was the worst off.

With a sickening crunch, he was slammed back into the ground, his body cracking under the pressure. Agony contorted his features as a raw, terrified scream tore from his throat.

"AHHHHHHH! HELP!! SHE’S GONNA KILL ME!!!"
