Chapter 172: Peace is Blissful
Jiang Hao didn’t stand up from his position and simply looked toward the crowd. Although none of the passing and nearby cultivators were acting in a way to avoid him, their occasional eye movements told a different story.
All of them were conscious of the fact that he was here.
His thoughts were broken by the feeling of someone coming close and sitting near him. It was none other than Hunlang.
Looks like her fear of him had subsided by now. He never wanted to scare her anyway.
He watched the exchanges and workings of the city for a while. Occasionally, there were some cultivators who challenged each other for some reason. Overall, it was hectic to say the least.
He stood up and went back inside the house. He didn’t close the barrier so that if Ming Yue came out, she wouldn’t have to wait. Hunlang stayed in the same place.
After entering, he decided to resume his sword’s way again.
He had left it when he reached the Sword Mastery stage.
Weapons way is a unique process. In the first stage, to reach the beginner level, you have to learn sword forms, postures, and basic techniques.
Once you master them to a certain point, you enter the weapon beginner level, in his case, the Sword Beginner stage.
Once you reach this realm, you feel an inherent connection to the weapon you are mastering.
But since it’s just a beginner level, you still have to rely purely on physical talent and basic qi circulation to fight using the weapon.
Weapons are seen as weapons, not yet an extension of self.
After the beginner stage comes the Weapon Disciple stage.
This is the stage that truly defines the value of practicing a weapon, because if you reach this level, you are able to create a weapon qi.
In Jiang Hao’s case, it is sword qi. He can infuse his sword with sword qi, and this qi can be used to extend beyond the original length of the blade.
Wherever that qi goes, a cut will appear, similar to how a sword strike would have caused it.
It is like a technique unique to the weapon’s way path.
Next comes the Sword Mastery stage. It was at this stage that he currently was.
When you reach this stage, you gain deeper mastery over how to use your weapon qi.
You can change the shape of your qi attacks, condense it to make it even stronger, or even hide the sword qi behind your attacks.
Also, at this stage, the basic intent of the weapon begins to form.
Jiang Hao took out his sword and infused it with sword qi. His sword qi was definitely far stronger than that of any other Sword Mastery stage cultivators of the same realm.
The reason was simple, it was similar to his spiritual qi. All forms of qi are derived from your initial spirit qi.
And since his initial spirit qi was far more refined and stronger than anyone else’s, his other qi’s which were derived from it were similarly stronger. This was just a basic fact.
He started his practice with basic movements while his sword was still infused with sword qi. To reach the next realm, you have to keep practicing every aspect of the sword that you have acquired till now.
...
He practiced for ten days non-stop. He could feel that his efficiency in controlling the sword and sword qi had improved, but he also knew it was far from enough.
He stopped his training because he heard someone entering the house, and as expected, Ming Yue came inside.
"Junior brother, it’s been a while."
Jiang Hao nodded.
"Likewise, senior sister."
Ming Yue was surprised to see him without any mask.
"Junior brother, why are you not wearing your mask anymore?"
"There’s no reason left to do so, senior sister. Our identities are already known throughout the city, so there’s no specific point in wearing it."
Ming Yue had just come out, so she didn’t know about it.
"Very well, junior brother. I should remove mine too. Wearing a veil is more comfortable."
She immediately switched her mask with a veil.
"Let’s go, junior brother. I’m itching for a battle right now."
Jiang Hao nodded, and they teleported away far enough to not be seen by anyone from the main safe zone.
After arriving at an empty location, they immediately started their spar.
They were already quite familiar with each other’s way of sparring, so they were able to use almost the maximum of their strength without hurting each other.
They fought for six hours, taking little breaks in between as Ming Yue wasn’t able to keep up with Jiang Hao’s spirit qi regeneration.
After six hours, they decided to train their sword’s way here too. The competition still had some time left, so they weren’t in a hurry.
It became their routine. They didn’t go back to the city and practiced their sword’s way in that location for forty-five days.
Now the competition was only five days away, and it would also be the day of the closing of the inheritance site.
All cultivators who would not be in the main safe zone city would be forced to leave through their original spatial node.
So by now, everyone would definitely be inside the city.
Both Ming Yue and Jiang Hao came back again to the city. Teleporting out of the city was easy, but to go back they had to enter through the gates again.
So they teleported near the gates first before entering like new arrivals.
Many had already seen Jiang Hao, and no doubt when they saw him, they all recognized him easily. But it was the first time for them to see Ming Yue.
The woman who was said to be the most beautiful in the world, a rumor which had spread almost all over the world by now.
Most cultivators’ lives are simple: cultivating, fighting for resources, and admiring beautiful women.
So the weight of this title was far more impactful than Jiang Hao’s imagination.
Although Ming Yue was wearing a veil, it didn’t stop others from looking at her, men or women alike, they all looked at her. Although most of the women’s attention was on Jiang Hao.
"Now you understand, junior brother, that even if they knew about our identities, why it is still better to wear masks."
Jiang Hao sighed inwardly. Not everyone thinks like him. For them, beauty is something that holds far more value than their own advancement in the cultivation realm. No wonder the level of geniuses has degraded over generations.
Peace might be blissful, but it is also a sweet poison that kills slowly.
No wonder there were still some unclaimed inheritances left in this inheritance site. Generations had passed, but not a single cultivator worthy of them had come after the ancient wars.
