Chapter 162: White-furred Wolf
Chapter 162: White-furred Wolf
This will in fact increase the image of their sects further, so there is no doubt that their sects might do the same.
As for them, using Heavenly Oaths to seal their mouths is one way, but wouldn’t it be more perfect to just get rid of them? In the end, they are mere Core Formation realm cultivators.
They all trembled internally after thinking this through.
"Hey, is there anything we can do?"
One of the monks asked the disciple of Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary.
Although he was not from these two sects and his sect might not kill him for knowing this information, if these two sects asked them to do so, then his fate would be sealed nonetheless.
But is there any option left for them? He could think of only one, it was to choose different spatial nodes to leave and never go back to their sects.
In that case, their sect wouldn’t even know if they were still alive or not. Their sects do have life-tracking talismans which burn upon the death of cultivators, but they aren’t used for Core Formation realm cultivators.
They are used only for Soul Sea realm cultivators and above, it was true for all three sects.
So there was no doubt their sects were already aware that their Soul Sea realm cultivators were dead; they just wouldn’t know the specific details.
"Is there even a need to ask? Just never go back, simple. I don’t know if they will be able to find us or not, but the chances of them thinking we’re dead would be higher. After all, even Soul Sea realm cultivators were fully wiped out.
That’s the only hope we have left to live... I have already survived this tragedy, so I don’t want to die anymore... farewell."
The disciple of Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary threw his sect badge away and left. One by one, others also did the same, no one wanted to die wrongly.
Now they felt how tyrannical their sect was.
...
Jiang Hao and Ming Yue were flying slowly, looking through the forest on their swords. After unlocking Spirit Sense, controlling swords to fly was quite easy. Ming Yue preferred this method of travel, so Jiang Hao accepted it.
They didn’t find any resources, but they did find many dead cultivators lying randomly along the forest.
This was an expected outcome. Recently, all the cultivators had moved to the 9th level through these routes, so getting resources would be hard.
After travelling for one hour slowly, they came above a pond, and Ming Yue stopped immediately. Jiang Hao stopped too, he knew why she had stopped.
There was a spirit beast on the shore of the pond, and by the looks of it, it seemed to be collecting water.
It was a white-furred wolf. He didn’t know what type it was, but this beast definitely wasn’t an ordinary spirit beast. That shining mark between its eyebrows was proof of it, spirit beasts with distinct marks always had good bloodlines. At least, that’s what he had read when he was studying ancient wars.
It was in the late stage of the Soul Sea realm, and it was quite injured. It collected water using its spiritual qi.
Spirit beasts and human cultivators both open their Soul Seas in a similar way. Any body cultivator who reaches Grade 4 would have his Soul Sea opened too.
Even if a person is both a body and qi cultivator, it wouldn’t change anything. Every cultivator has only one Soul Sea and one soul, so there is no difference in the opening of the Soul Sea between spirit beasts and cultivators.
The strength of soul in higher-grade bloodline beasts is always greater.
Right now, they were flying at least 400 meters above in the air, so this spirit beast wasn’t able to sense them, but both Jiang Hao and Ming Yue were able to sense it.
There was no denying of the soul strength of Ming Yue. Her physique was more of a soul-type, so her soul strength was undeniable. In fact, it was higher than even Jiang Hao’s, but the range was still 500 meters for Spirit Sense.
It is similar to how a peak stage Soul Sea realm cultivator would have stronger soul strength than early stage ones, but the range of Spirit Sense would be fixed.
The wolf made a floating ball of water beside it and dashed towards the forest.
Given how interested Ming Yue was, she followed immediately, so Jiang Hao had to go too.
There was no way a spirit beast could come inside the Inheritance Site without a master, so this beast definitely had a master somewhere.
As they followed it, they came across a clearing, which wasn’t natural but created due to extensive battle.
There were at least 23 cultivators who were dead here, and one who was still alive, a woman who looked too injured to move effectively. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing was quite slow.
The wolf came near her and brought the water blob close to her.
"Junior Brother, that woman is definitely unconscious right now, so she definitely didn’t order her beast to bring water for her. That means this beast decided to do it by itself.
Their bond is definitely quite deep."
Jiang Hao looked at the beast and said,
"Maybe it wants to survive, Senior Sister. After all, if its master died, then its death is but inevitable."
"Junior Brother, as expected, you weren’t able to read its expression. A beast that wants to save someone for its own survivability wouldn’t have that concerned look. And look how carefully it’s handling its owner right now."
Jiang Hao looked at the beast speechlessly. No doubt, it was handling its master carefully, but didn’t it have to do so to avoid harming her by mistake? Because if he kills her accidentally than he will die too.
And what was with this concerned expression? Isn’t it obvious it would be concerned about its own life?
He didn’t voice it out loud, because she would definitely not accept it and would start bickering with him. Not to mention, she was still angry at him, she definitely wouldn’t let it go.
He silently looked at the pair of master and spirit beast. Maybe he was wrong, and they did have a good relationship. But does that matter? It wasn’t going to change anything for them anyway.
"Junior Brother, I have decided to help them,"
Ming Yue said and swooped down. Jiang Hao shook his head internally and followed her.
Just as Ming Yue entered 300 meters range, she saw the beast immediately looking towards her.
She was a little amazed. This meant the beast had Spirit Sense of 300 meters, was it because of that mark on its eyebrows? Well, she was curious to find out now.
The beast looked a little intimidated before snarling at them after sensing their cultivation realm.
It still didn’t attack, though. It waited near its master and looked around with vigilance.
It seemed to think there might be other cultivators here with them. Given that there were 13 dead bodies here, it seemed like they had been attacked by a group of cultivators, so it wasn’t surprising that it was vigilant towards them.
Ming Yue landed a little far away to decrease its aggression.
"It’s okay. We are not here to attack you two. We are just here to help. As a beast, you can’t access your master’s storage bag, let me help you."
"Grrrhhhhhh..."
The wolf snarled more, discarding her goodwill immediately.
Well, in this Inheritance Site, accepting someone’s help would be like choosing between poisonous pills and normal pills while blindfolded.
Ming Yue sighed. She had low-key known her words wouldn’t be effective anyway.
She looked towards Jiang Hao, who had just come down, and said,
"Junior Brother, go and restrain it."
Jiang Hao looked at her speechlessly. What happened to her non-hurting stance just now?
"What are you waiting for, Junior Brother? Just make sure it doesn’t get hurt. Of course, if it struggles too much, you can knock him out."
The wolf could clearly understand what they were talking about. It increased its senses and waited for them to attack.
Jiang Hao looked at it calmly. He had a better way to handle this. He disappeared and appeared instantly above the wolf. Before the wolf could react, he placed his finger on its head while releasing his blood qi.
The wolf was stunned seeing him appear in front of it. When it sensed the blood qi being released by Jiang Hao, it was scared to the core.
It gave in and directly sat down, feeling Jiang Hao’s finger on its head. It had no doubt, if it tried to move, its death was imminent.
Ming Yue nodded in satisfaction and moved near the injured woman. The wolf wanted to react, but Jiang Hao was still above it, watching.
In the end, it didn’t move, not because it was scared, but because Jiang Hao could definitely kill it and its master.
So the fact that it was still alive, along with its master, was quite a relief. Maybe that woman was speaking the truth, and they were only here to help.
If that really was the case, then it would be even better for its master. Previously, it was going to destroy the storage bag to take out a healing pill, but it decided to use water to see if she could regain consciousness by herself first.
Ming Yue took the storage bag and opened it. Immediately, she found a healing-type pill. These types of pills were usually stored in green pill bottles to make them distinctive for emergency times like this.
