Chapter 161: Moving Slowly
Chapter 161: Moving Slowly
There was the possibility of many of them escaping though, Soul Sea realm cultivators were far faster than Core Formation realm cultivators anyway,so he went with the most logical way of killing as many of them as possible.
Although he knew that his senior sister was just trying to find a topic to get back at him, and that she would keep doing so as long as she was angry at him, he didn’t know how long it would last.
"Junior Brother, I am hungry, so I am going to cook some food."
Yup, she was definitely going to use every possible way to make him feel bad. No doubt he wasn’t getting anything from whatever she was going to cook right now.
Ming Yue flew and landed on the safe path.
"Oh my, you all are still alive? Isn’t it too much of a burden to carry this heavy news back to your sects? I can tell you a way to deal with it. Want to know?"
She said this to the cultivators who were standing on the safe pathway.
This whole city seemed to be empty of other cultivators. This was definitely done deliberately by these three sects. They might not have wanted to show the whole world that they were using arrays and tricks just to kill two early-stage Soul Sea realm cultivators, while they themselves were at the peak stage.
The cultivators didn’t reply to Ming Yue. In fact, they would have asked about it if she could really help them somehow, but they knew what she would say. She would definitely tell them to go on a walk outside and leave the safe path.
True, this might really relieve them of their burdens. After all, death relieves one from every burden of life.
"Tsk... can’t speak now? What happened to the all-mighty Azure Sky Sect and the tyrannical Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary? Weren’t you the ones who demand silence from others and yet speak as much as you want without asking anyone’s opinion?"
Jiang Hao came near and landed on the safe pathway. The others flinched.
"Junior Brother, weren’t you able to break barriers in Core Formation realm safe zones? How about you use one of your world-destroying black spheres here and see if you can kill these worthless scums of the world?"
Jiang Hao knew that she didn’t literally mean that. She was just making these people feel fear. No doubt, it worked. As others become really nervous.
"Tsk!... cowards."
Ming Yue snorted and made her way towards the city gate. Jiang Hao followed speechlessly. He knew that she was just taking her anger out on anything she could find.
Well, as long as she didn’t find any topics against him, it would be fine.
They came to the core area. All the inheritances were already claimed, but that wasn’t the reason they had arrived here.
Ming Yue found a good spot and arranged everything she needed to cook. Afterwards, she started cooking a Grade 5 boar beast.
She prepared more attentively this time, adding every ingredient she had. After it was done, it really looked divine.
Even Jiang Hao felt that it might taste heavenly, but he knew that tasting it was but a dream, so he just removed his eyes from the meat and started cultivating.
Ming Yue took a good portion and began eating it, but when she saw that Jiang Hao was cultivating, she snorted a little and called him.
"You can have it, Junior Brother. I am not as ungrateful as you."
Jiang Hao opened his eyes and looked at the glistening, heavenly-cooked boar. He immediately stood up and took a big portion. He didn’t care about her jibe of him being ungrateful, personally, he didn’t care.
Although she was wrong, he still remembered how she hadn’t cooked food for them for a whole month when they were on the mountain.
That means she really can hold grudges if she wants to.
He took a big bite, and the meat was so soft that it seemed like it was melting in his mouth.
He wasn’t able to stop himself and took more bites in succession. The whole boar was quite big, as it was a Grade 5 beast, so there was no need to hold back.
He took more portions without even asking, nor did Ming Yue stop him. She was eating slowly, in fact.
It didn’t take long to finish everything off. In fact, he had eaten more than her. He really wasn’t able to control himself; it had been a while since he had eaten anything, so he gave in completely.
After they were done removing everything, he asked,
"What do you want to do now, Senior Sister?"
It was an interesting question. They could cultivate peacefully if they wanted to. They might even be able to break through to the middle stage of the Soul Sea realm easily if they did so.
The cultivators from the three sects who had come for them were mostly dead. There might be some in the Nascent Soul region, which isn’t one of the regions around the main mountain.
These cultivators might have come to seek opportunities, as these inheritance sites open very rarely.
Fighting a peak-stage Nascent Soul cultivator was a no-go even for himself. He might be able to put up a fight against a late-stage Nascent Soul cultivator, but winning wouldn’t be easy unless he caught them off guard. But the chances of that happening were low.
The other thing they could do was roam around the inheritance site collecting various resources. There were some inheritance sites in the open too. There might be a chance that they find a hidden inheritance.
And the chances of them being unclaimed are always high. But finding a hidden inheritance in this vast site is based on luck, and he doubted the heavens had given any luck to him or Senior Sister Ming Yue.
But it was still better. They could move towards the main safe zone and even take part in the competition too.
Come to think of it, he didn’t know if the inheritances on the top of the mountain were mostly unclaimed or already claimed.
Because winners of the competition must be given something, right? And not to mention, the main safe zone city was place where only those so-called geniuses are able to reach.
Well, since the main consciousness gave rewards even for reaching the foot of the mountain, then reaching the top would definitely earn them some rewards, irrespective of any treasures they would get from the inheritance sites, if there were any unclaimed ones, that is.
"There isn’t anything in particular I want to do, Junior Brother. Let’s just go to the main safe zone. We can cultivate and participate in the end-year competition,"
Ming Yue said while shrugging her shoulders.
"Then let’s move through the forest slowly, Senior Sister, instead of teleporting. We might find some inheritance or resources."
"Sounds good, Junior Brother."
They were on the 8th level. The maximum realm of cultivators in this region was definitely the 9th level. As for the 10th level, there were none, as they had come from there. So even if they moved through the forest, they might reach the main safe zone faster than anyone else, because unlike others, they wouldn’t be stopping in cities.
After deciding, they didn’t waste time and left the city.
The cultivators of the three sects were keeping an eye on their movements. They hadn’t even used minor teleportation talismans to leave.
They were afraid of Jiang Hao. Who knows if he had some method to track them and teleport directly in front of them?
If that happened, then no one could save them from death.
When they saw them leaving, they sighed in relief. But still, they decided to wait for a few days before leaving the city. Who knew if Jiang Hao and Ming Yue were still waiting for them?
They have only one minor teleportations talisman left , which was given by their seniors for emergency, using it for leaving seems like waste.
All of them had decided to move to the Nascent Soul realm area, which lay outside these regions, it covered the entirety of these regions like a ring.
Their only hope was to find some of their seniors and share this overwhelming bad news, which was eating away at them more and more as time passed.
Their sects had gone overboard in providing everything they needed to track and kill Jiang Hao and Ming Yu, giving every disciple two minor teleportation talismans was already quite a waste, not to mention all those protective and attack talismans, which most of them weren’t even able to use.
In the end, it wasn’t their fault that they failed to complete the mission. Their perception of Jiang Hao’s strength had been wrong from the very beginning.
There was no doubt that he was even more terrifying than Ming Yue, an unkillable monster who could wipe out hundreds in the blink of an eye.
"Hey, what do you think our sects will do? In the end, the only people who really know everything are us, right?"
The disciple from Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary, who had brought the information previously, spoke with a little stiffness in his voice.
"What do you mean?"
Asked a disciple from Azure Sky Sect.
"You really don’t know, or are you too scared to accept the truth? You do know that our sects will do everything to protect their image.
What do you think is the best way for that? Isn’t it to remove all witnesses and twist the facts? And who are the witnesses? Do you need me to tell you?"
Hearing him, the other disciples were stunned. It was the truth, everyone else was dead, and only they were the ones who knew what really happened.
As for the matter of other cultivators doubting why no one from these sects had joined the end-year competition, well, that was easy to manipulate. They could simply say that they were only here to hunt traitors, not to steal opportunities from the hands of the Eastern Region.
