A massive obsidian wyvern soared through the skies , traversing landscapes and oceans with swift speed .

" There " Micheal pointed towards a particular direction as varying emotions flickered to life in his eyes.

The mountainous region became more visible to the ordinary person’s eye as one neared the location.

As for the group of four,they could see the region clearly even from where they were in the skies.

Afterall ,they were awakeners , their vision was more profound and clearer than that of mundane people.

Finally, Everfrost landed on the ground.

Footsteps echoed as the group of four stepped down and observed their surroundings .

The place lay in ruins, with smoke rising from the ground .

The scent of decomposed bodies lingered in the environs . Charred limbs and dried corpses were littered here and there.

There were no buildings in sight ,only ruins of buildings.

The mountainous ranges which were once host of the heavenly lightning Sect stood silent , as if it they were mourning the death of the sect.

Micheal sighed deeply, as varying emotions flickered through his eyes.

He could see it all, as they walked through the grounds, passed corpses ,lept over ruins, and traversed mountain peaks, and former flora full regions.

The places he used to train, and play with his friends.

The places he used to sit and drink tea, and play dice with his father .

The laughter of the sect members, the determination etched on their faces as they trained.

His friends listened to him as he spoke about his experiences in the sect , as they passed region after region.

They were patient and listened , knowing he was taking them somewhere .

They traversed one peak,finally standing before a ruined region of the sect that whispered a bygone era of magnificence .

" This is, or rather was, the Sect Master’s peak"

Micheal revealed a complex expression . He seemed pained . His friends could tell from his voice.

It was as though he was recounting a bitter sweet relationship from his past. One that he enjoyed at some point and also experienced the greatest trajedies from.

" This is where my father and I used to stay"

He said.

" You can tell from the feel from this place " Kailen said "Even though this place has been destroyed, the ruins give off some regal vibe "

" Yeah, this place was definitely easy on the eyes"

Micheal smiled and spoke further " The place was. But the experiences ,may not have been.I had some of the best experiences of my life here, and at some point , some of the worst experiences"

" Sorry about that man" Charles chimed in.

Micheal nodded in appreciation ,then continued " When my cousin became my father’s disciple, things took a turn for the worst. With my former trashy breakthrough speed, I couldn’t amount to much ,at least in the sight of my father and the sect elders . My father spent more and more time with my cousin, training him day in and day out to be the next sect leader, whereas , I was ignored completely "

Arrie interrupted ,her voiced tinged with anger" Your dad sounds like a shit show to me. Ignored his son because he was busy grooming his nephew to be the next leader of the sect? Who does that?"

Charles and Kailen stared at her with surprised expressions.Couldn’t she read the situation ? Why did she have to speak against his dead father?. Micheal might not want that.

Micheal noticed their expressions , then laughed.

" Don’t worry. I’m not offended at Arrie’s words. We all know she’s right. Someone had to tell me this. To be honest I have had a hard time accepting that my father lost sight of his fatherhood responsibilities to me at some point by focusing solely on grooming the next leader of the sect. But I’ve come to accept that fact"

Kailen and Charles sighed in relief ,then added more fuel to the fire " Since we know your feelings won’t be hurt by being honest with you, I agree with Arrie"

Charles added "Focusing so much on your cousin ended up getting him killed in the end. Perhaps had he spent more time with his son, that would not have happened. He lost sight of the most important priority in the end"

Micheal revealed a pained expression " Thanks guys. Honestly you are all right. I think at some point my father despised me. There were times in the past where I wanted to demonstrate the fruits of my training to him, yet he would cut me off and tell me he’s busy . Even to the point of telling me he had to train my cousin for the sake of the sect and therefore, didn’t have time to waste on me"

Kailen and the others could feel the pain in his voice.

"The pain of being ignored by your parent who once treated you with love and showered you attention , all because you were lacking in a particular area is something I really understand." Micheal said "This is why I never want my child to experience anything of that sort. Felicia will always be loved and appreciated by her parents,because she’s our daughter and we love her,not because of her merit"

" It’s times like this that I remember you are the oldest in our small circle " Charles stared at Micheal with puzzlement.

Kailen couldn’t help but nod . In their small circle of four, Micheal was the oldest, and probably the most mature in terms of knowing how to handle responsibility. He was a parent after all, and that was no easy task. Being responsible for another life, at a personal level was something any of them couldn’t imagine being easy.

There were times where Micheal said stuff like this that made them realize he was an extremely matured person .

Micheal however was puzzled .

" What do you mean by that?"

Kailen replied this time " Everyone of us here has had our fair share of pain, but non of us are parents. Honestly, the thought of having children with Arrie makes me happy, but it’s also scary in a way.That responsibility, I sometimes wonder if I can handle it. The fact that you manage to make it work, kind of earns our respect man. Also your daughter loves you so much. That’s the trait of a good parent"

Arrie stared at Kailen and layered further " I agree with Kai. It sometimes scares me too. How you manage to make it work,it’s fascinating "

Micheal chuckled, sat down on the charred ground and looked towards the sky shimmering with starry stars " Thanks guys . But I have a great woman for a wife too. With her it’s easier . Also ,with parenting ,you just learn to handle it with time"

" See this guy humble bragging"Charles clicked his tongue in feigned emotional annoyance .

Every laughed at his antics.

This guy really knew how to provide comic relief.

The group sat down with Micheal and stared at the stars silently with him. The winds blew past them ,causing their clothes to flutter .

" You know,there will come a time in the far future where we will sit down together like this without any care about anything in the universe, without having to care about whether or not some alien invasion is at stake or whether or not some powerhouses will target us.

I really want to be able to protect all this one day, we need to get stronger guys"

Charles was the one who spoke this time.

Everyone stared at him with a bewildered expression.

What has come over this guy?

He was suddenly saying something sensible.

" Why are you all staring at me like that?" Charles was surprised . These guys were looking at him like he was some exotic beast.

Everyone chuckled and shook their heads.

However he was right.

Kailen furthered " One of the reasons why I want to become extremely strong in the universe is so that I can protect those I care about . I don’t want to experience the pain of losing my parents ever again by losing anyone I care about"

" Guys, I want to rebuild the Heavenly lightning Sect one day . I know my father was not the best. But I cannot have his legacy rot. I will rebuild the sect and make it a great faction in the universe, not just on earth. This will be my goal for travelling the universe,apart from traversing the universe to become strong enough to stand through tick and thin with you guys and protect my wife and daughter"

Everyone nodded at Micheal’s words.

" We will always be there to help you man"

" Anyway I failed to mention that another reason why I want to travel the sea of stars is enjoy commotion"

Charles was laying on the ground all of sudden with a bump on his head.

At this moment ,Kailen was the one who had hit him on the head.

" This guy had to just ruin the moment with nonsense talk"

He muttered.

" Why are you guys so mean to me?" The blonde haired gentleman muttered weakly from the ground where he lay currently.

Everyone broke into a fit of laughter at his antics.
