Chapter 123: New Powers

"I guess."

Priscilla huffed at his response, crossing her arms like she has been personally offended by how underwhelming that answer was.

"You guess? Boy, could you be any more serious right now? You just underwent a complete metamorphosis, Adam. This needs to be studied, so we can under the full extent of your changes."

She poked his chest with two fingers, gently, looking at the symbol however she never seen something like this before."

"How strange....

She muttered and said.

"I could feel great power coming from this thing, limitless even...

Priscilla commented as she studied Adam further, and began her questions.

"So tell me, in plain words: what can you do now? Apart from switching between black and white hair among other prominent external changes?"

Adam opened his mouth, then paused. A rare moment of hesitation overtook him.

"I... don’t know."

He admitted.

His voice was quiet, but not unsure...just honest.

But he could feel the power coursing through him, as natrual as natrual can be.

But as he focus on it, he felt more in sync in the Astrum particles around him for some unknown reason.

It felt like an extra limb.

Like countless fingers he hadn’t realized were his up until now.

For that reason he began to explain this feeling to Priscilla and the girls.

"...Well for one the Astrum in the atmosphere."

Adam murmured, half to himself.

"It feels like... an extension of me."

Minerva tilted her head puzzle by his comment.

"Huh?"

Adam’s eyes narrowed slightly. He focused, not with intent, but with instinct. His body moved before his own thought could catch up.

A warm pressure course through him when did, climbing his spine and blooming in his skull.

White horns unfurled from his temples yet again. The girls stepped back slightly in surprise, but no one interrupted.

And then something shifting within him yet again, like a silent ripple through unseen waters.

Adam inhaled deeply.

"I think...

He muttered.

"I can change their nature."

The white sheen of his horns darkened. Faint traces of color shimmered at the tips, and then it happened, like ink dropped into milk. They turned a rich, glowing purple.

Priscilla’s eyes widened, as she could feel a familiar Astrum attribute in Adam’s horns, as she said with a shocked expression.

"That’s... Space-aligned Astrum?"

Adam didn’t respond, he just began to focus on the feeling.

"Ah I think I get it now."

He said flatly, and the girl watch as he did something that defies all laws of magic they come to understood.

But the moment his horns changed color, the element respond to his will.

The Astrum around him flowed in command.

Furniture began to lift themselves off the ground.

Chairs floated.

Tables rotated slowly in midair, their shadows spinning along the floor.

Even the chandelier overhead flickered as the shook side to side.

The room warped slightly, as space began to distorted.

"What the hell how is thisss? No how are you?...

Priscilla said in absolute shocked at the sight of the actions taking place before her very eyes.

One of the chairs vanished, then popped back into place three feet to the left.

Another rotated upside-down, then flicked teleported into another position.

It was like Adam was using space magic without the need of a magic circle, without the need of coding, without the need of all things a spell needs to even be casted to begin with.

By will alone Adam was performing the impossible.

As he causally defy the laws of the magic altogther.

But Priscilla, well aware of his infinite reserve and can tell how Astrum he has within. She quickly notice something the other fail to see.

"No way... You’re not even drawing from your personal reserve either, are you?"

Priscilla asked, stunned.

And replied.

"Yeah, it feel like I am using the natural Astrum the planet itself, and like coloring a colorless portrait, I can just change the nature of Astrum by coloring and attribute upon it."

"And if I image what the Astrum can do in theory, I can just do it... It’s like my horns are acting as a conduit for magic itself."

Adam explain as his eyes fall on couch to the side of him, he pointed his fingers towards it, and lifted his finger upwards.

The small couch began to float as it followed the direction of his fingers.

Then, as if second-guessing himself, he let the thought go.

The couch lowered itself gently back to the ground.

"That’s so fucking cool."

Priscilla suddenly shout out in shocked, her usual calm and mature demeanour was nowhere to be seen at this moment.

It was clear her earlier shock was nowhere to be seen, now it was replaced with a sudden gleam in her eyes that honestly made Adam nervous.

"Oh my gods, do you have any idea what this means?"

She blurted, her voice rising in pitch, her hands flying to clutch his shoulders with inappropriate academic intensity.

"You!... Ahhh... What I am saying is that kind of manipulation of Astrum in the way you are using it shouldn’t be possible without Enlightenment or having a contract with a spirit. Elemental or not Space Astrum without magic circle or spirit language should be against all natrual laws of magic."

"Unless you are a spirit yourself...people can’t use magic so freely without abiding by the laws of magic or having special circumstances like Morgan, so the fact that you can do this is just so mind blowing."

Minerva blinked in confusion as she looked at Rakasha and said.

"Ohhh no... She geeked out again...

"...It’s been a while since I have seen her this excited about anything."

"Tell me about it."

Minerva whispered to Rakasha.

On the other hand though Minerva called out to Priscilla and said

"Oi... Pris... Don’t you think your coming off a bit too strong there."

Said Minerva, but Priscilla wasn’t listening. Her brain had already gone fully scholar-mode. She was circling Adam now, bombarding him with a barrage of questions faster than he could answer.

"Wait, wait, what about fire? Have you tried fire? What about earth? Can you shift your horns again? Can you blend types? How are you anchoring it? Are your horns channeling directly through your spinal root or...no, wait, I’m asking that out of order...

Adam raised a hand, trying to wave her down.

"Priscilla, breathe."

"Vampire don’t breathe... and no, you don’t understand, this is major Adam...you’re basically rewriting how Astrum functions in the first place!"

She shot back, eyes burning with glee, and curiosity.

Adam sighed at this, he has never seen Priscilla so happy or existing about anything up until now.

Still, he couldn’t help but be a little curious himself.

So, obliging her chaos, Adam narrowed his eyes and focused again. The purple hue of his horns began to drain, fading to white, then reforming, shimmer by shimmer, into a metallic silver sheen.

’...I guess I could use air magic as well...Sweet, sweet, that is good to know...

Adam said, given air magic is his most use elemental magic.

Either way he soon began to use its power.

As a result the air shifted around them, or rather Minerva to be more precise.

Minerva frowned.

"What the hell are you...

She stopped.

Something had coiled around her. And it was invisible to her eyes.

She could feel it that was for sure.

She tapped the invisible wall around her.

As she stepped back out of instinct, but her foot didn’t make a sound on the floor.

She blinked.

Her mouth opened, and arms folded as she began to speak.

However no one heard her.

Her brows furrowed as she looked around at the others, who were clearly reacting but completely mute from her perspective. Her fingers twitched, and and tap the air barrier lightly.

Crack.

Like shattering glass without any sound, the air around her fractured. A ripple of compressed wind burst outward as the invisible dome around her collapsed. Minerva rolled her shoulders with a huff and pointed at Adam.

"Was that an air barrier?"

She asked Adam who nodded his head

"Yeah."

Minerva huffed, at Adam response as she folded her hand and sighed.

It was early morning, and despite saying that he was alright. She still wanted to make sure, the less stress the better.

"Right, that’s quite enough magical showing off for one day, yeah Priscilla? Kid needs a bloody rest, not damn interrogation... Let’s worry about this later."

She said while rubbing the back of her head.

Priscilla paused, finally pulling herself out of the scholarly frenzy that had overtaken her. She blinked, once, twice, then folded her arms with a huff and turned her head away though her eyes didn’t stray far from Adam.

"Not like I care if he rests or not... Slothfulness is a sin you know."

She muttered under her breath.

To which Minerva replied.

"I just don’t want him fainting unconscious again in the middle of a bloody experiment Pris."

"BUTT!...

"Priscilla!"

Minerva warned, her voice flat as her patience thinned.

"Give ’im space. His condition’s unique, yes we know? And mysterious as hell. The least we can do is let him lie down without you blasting questions into his skull."

Adam, who had been enjoying the brief moment of quiet, gave a tired sigh. His voice came out low but amused.

"It’s fine. Really. I don’t mind... I’ve just never seen her this excited before... I will indulge her."

Priscilla stiffened.

"W-wot’re you on about boy?"

Minerva arched a brow at Adam, as she walked up to him and stooped low, meeting him eye to eye Ashe she said.

"So you’re fine with her pestering you?"

Adam shrugged.

"I wouldn’t call it pestering. It’s... kind of cute to be honest."

That earned him a sharp look, and a flushed face from Priscilla.

"C-cute?! You cheeky little... I-I’m a proper lady, I’ll have you know. A scholar! Not some excitable child!"

Minerva smirked at this while rubbing Adam head while saying.

"Heh. You lil flirt... Alright then, Pris, you win. Feel free to pester him all you like."

She commented while getting up.

Adam on the other hand leaned back, eyes narrowing slightly as he turned toward the tiny vampire.

Glaring at her girl at her with loving eyes, as he commented.

"Actually... rather than just questioning me... why don’t we test it out properly?"

Priscilla blinked and stammered at him with longing smile.

"Test... it?"

She asked excitedly.

He nodded.

"You’re curious, right? Then let’s explore the city. There’s gotta be a better way to figure this out than sitting around than lifting furniture, and creating air barriers right?"

Her lips parted slightly, eyes flickering with surprise, then interest.

"Hmm... a field test..."

She put a hand to her chin, posture straightening. Her inner scholar was already taking over again.

"That could work... control variables, environmental reactions, among other things as well to see better results of this new power... Hmm alright let’s do."

Priscilla replied excitedly, and Adam commented.

"Fufufu... It’s a date then."
