Chapter 233: KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR
Chapter 233: KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR
A few minutes before the bombing...
"TO BE fair, I don’t have proof that Bambi is a monster."
Aigoo.
If Yuno weren’t such a scaredy-cat, he would have glared at Moon Noa already.
After all, that was so anti-climactic.
Moon Noa called Bambi a ’pink monster’ earlier.
"Why is Ryu Sungbin dating a monster raised by the Lab?"
That statement was shocking for Yuno, so he asked Moon Noa:
"Do you have proof that Bambi is a monster?"
And that was when his (sometimes useless) boss admitted that he had no proof.
"You look disappointed, kid," Moon Noa commented while having coffee elegantly— acting as if he were in a cozy café and not a white room not different from an asylum. The coffee came from his Inventory, so it should be safe to drink. "Why?"
"Because if Sajangnim has proof that Bambi-ssi is a monster, then we can use that to punish him properly," Yuno explained, sitting in the chair across from his boss. "But what kind of monster do you suspect Bambi-ssi to be, Boss?"
"It’s hard to explain, but I lost something while I was taking care of him."
Oho?
Yuno remembered that while he was staying at Moon Noa’s house— after his sajangnim saved him from the Lab— he barely saw him come home.
That’s why we barely got close at the time.
Was it a year after the Lab’s destruction that Bambi made his appearance as the second S-Class Guide in South Korea?
"Sajangnim, what did you lose at the time?"
"Half of my heart."
Yuno almost choked on his saliva. "Excuse me?"
"Don’t worry about it, kid," Moon Noa said, laughing softly while shaking his head. "The adults will take care of problems like this."
"Is there anyone by your side, Sajangnim?"
"What do you think?"
Yuno wanted to say that Moon Noa didn’t have any friends because he was a sly fox.
But he stopped abruptly when he remembered Ryu Sungbin.
CLICK.
It was the sound of the clogs in Yuno’s brain finally falling into places.
Moon Noa.
Ryu Sungbin.
They are the first Esper-Guide to have the highest matching rate in our country. Their bond was supposed to be strong. But Ryu Sungbin dumped Moon Noa for Bambi.
That part had never made sense to Yuno.
But, now, the picture was starting to get clear.
If Bambi stole something from Sajangnim, then...
Yuno let out a soft gasp when the realization hit him. "Sajangnim, did Ryu Sungbin stay with Bambi to retrieve what you lost— aigoo!"
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to finish what he was trying to ask because the ground suddenly shook hard.
What the hell?
The earthquake didn’t happen just once or twice.
Actually, Yuno had already lost count.
This isn’t an earthquake.
"Is this place getting bombed?" Yuno asked, knitting his eyebrows. "But how?"
"Why are you asking a stupid question?" Moon Noa asked, scoffing. "There’s nothing impossible for two natural S-Class Espers who are desperate to save their Guides."
Two natural S-Class Espers desperate to save their Guides?
Sajangnim can tell who the Espers are?
To be fair, Yuno also only knew two Espers who were crazy enough to pull that kind of shit for him and Moon Noa.
If it involves Sajangnim, then Haru must be one of them.
And the other...
Yuno’s eyes widened in shock, his heart beating hard and fast against his chest. "Is one of them Gayoon Hyung?"
"I’m not sure," Moon Noa said, shrugging. "Are you confident that Ki Gayoon likes you enough to risk his life and rescue you?"
"Yes, Sajangnim— I’m confident."
"I can’t wait to see Ryu Sungbin and Ki Gayoon working together again."
Aigoo.
That sounded sad as heck.
"Sajangnim, I don’t think it’s Ryu Sungbin," Yuno said awkwardly. "The one with Gayoon Hyung must be Haru-nim."
"Haru?"
"Japan’s ex-Crown Prince."
"I know who Haru is since there’s only one Haru who’s a natural S-Class Esper here. But why would Haru come and save me?"
Haaah.
"Sajangnim, I’m sorry to say this, but I’m not rooting for you and Ryu Sungbin-ssi," Yuno said awkwardly. "I’m actually rooting for you and Haru. When Ryu Sungbin dumped you, it was Haru-nim who stayed by your side, Sajangnim."
Honestly, he thought his boss would get mad at him.
But that wasn’t what happened.
"You’re saying that because you don’t know Ryu Sungbin’s goal. And, actually, I’m glad that you don’t," Moon Noa said, smiling faintly. "Because, if that’s the case, then it only means our plan is going smoothly."
Oh?
Yuno’s theory was confirmed then.
Sajangnim and Ryu Sungbin really made a plan together.
***
IT WAS a plane’s detached wing buried deep into the ground.
And it was located at the foot of a mountain.
Ki Gayoon couldn’t remember what mountain it was, but according to Haru, they were still in Tokyo.
Hence, they got there easily using the prince bastard’s teleportation skill.
"That’s the gate to the dormant dungeon you mentioned?" Gayoon asked to be sure. "And that’s the dungeon where Noh Yuno is supposed to be?"
"Correct," Haru confirmed while nodding. "It’s not just Yuno-kun, Gayoon-san. Noa-san is also there. We’re going to save both of them."
"You save your Guide, I’ll save mine. Are you not confident that you’ll be able to save the sly fox?"
"It’s not about whether I’m confident or not. I simply refuse to take chances. After all, my goal is to save Moon Noa. You shouldn’t be too confident either, Gayoon-san. I’m sure you wouldn’t want your arrogance to cause your downfall."
Tsk.
Gayoon really hated it when Haru— or anyone else— talked to him as if he was a child getting scolded.
In this case, the prince bastard was correct.
But whatever.
"Let’s just start destroying the gate first," Gayoon said, raising his hands. "Let’s do the talking later."
He then used his psychokinesis power to lift the giant trees and boulders around them— and then he threw everything at the dungeon’s gate."
Then he repeated the same process again and again.
Haru frowned at what he did. "What if the dungeon collapses and our beloved Guides get crushed inside?"
"That won’t happen," Gayoon said confidently. "The bastards inside won’t let Noh Yuno and Moon Noa die."
And the goal is to make them come out.

"STAY there in the meantime, Yihun-ah."
Ouch.
Yuno could only frown when his butt landed on the floor after Erwan threw him inside a new room.
It was pretty dark in there, but it felt so cold as if the entire place was empty.
"Hyung-nim, how about Sajangnim?"
"Don’t worry about Moon Noa— just focus on surviving this test, Yihun-ah."
And then Erwan shut the door closed.
Yuno was left stunned, of course.
Test?
What test?
"Noh Yuno, thank you for making Ki Gayoon fall in love with you so deeply."
Yuno immediately stood up after hearing Bambi’s familiar voice echoing in the closed room.
His sight had already adjusted to the dark.
However, he couldn’t see anyone else with him in there.
"Bambi-ssi, where are you?"
Only silence answered Yuno.
He felt the urge to get out of there, so he tried to run towards the door. However, he realized that his feet were stuck.
Only then did he realize that it was as if he were stuck in what seemed like quicksand.
When he looked down, he finally discovered what was holding him back from moving.
"Melted wax?" Yuno asked in disbelief. "Where did this come from... argh!"
He wasn’t able to finish what he was saying.
After all, the melted wax suddenly grew bigger until it was big enough to swallow him.
Dammit.
I can’t breathe...!
