Chapter 111: BAD HISTORY
Chapter 111: BAD HISTORY
"NOH YUNO’s ex-suitors all died because of a Dungeon Break?" Ki Gayoon asked while reading the documents in his hands. "That punk didn’t mention anything about it. He just said his ex-suitors all died via accident."
"Well, all the ex-suitors’ died in an accident," Moon Noa said, sitting next to Gayoon while drinking his coffee. "The first suitor died because the low-grade dungeon that he entered suddenly turned into a high-grade dungeon after his team entered to raid it."
It was something that would happen often before because, at the time, the devices invented to check the grade of a Gate were still a bit faulty.
Hence, a Gate suddenly changing its grade after the Espers came in was pretty normal.
So, it makes sense since Noh Yuno’s ex-suitor was from eight years ago— the time when those devices weren’t perfect yet.
That pissed him off.
Noh Yuno was only seventeen years old back then, and yet he was already popular.
"It was considered an accident since no one expected the Gate to suddenly change its grade," Moon Noa continued. "It was a shame since the kids who entered that dungeon were all minors."
As an Esper, he felt bad after hearing that.
So many low and mid-ranked Espers died during the first few years after the apocalypse.
Honestly speaking, their country only stabilized almost five years ago.
"Yuyu’s second suitor was a Guide who, unfortunately, died during a stampede when a Dungeon Break appeared. He was trying to guide the Civilians to the evacuation center, but the stampede happened," Moon Noa continued with his explanation. "Yuyu’s third suitor was a female Esper. Sadly, she died after accidentally eating a poisonous mushroom while in a dungeon. The poisonous mushroom that she ate looked pretty similar to the edible mushroom found in dungeons, hence the accidental death."
Ah, that was unfortunate.
Sometimes, raiding a dungeon takes weeks— even months. So, if the Espers run out of food that they stored in their Inventory, they have no choice but to eat whatever edible food they can find in the dungeon.
"Yuyu’s last suitor died just a few years ago," Moon Noa said while stirring his coffee. "He was a Civilian, a university student. Sadly, he died when a monster from a Dungeon Break fell on the roof of his car. He was on his way to visit Yuyu at the convenience store then."
Gayoon grimaced when he heard that. "I hope Noh Yuno didn’t blame himself for that."
Moon Noa smiled bitterly. "That was when Yuyu convinced himself that he was really cursed. And that was also when he completely stopped believing that he was worth to be loved."
"Who the fuck said Noh Yuno was cursed?"
"If Espers had ’Mother,’ then the Guides had ’Father.’"
"Ah. The person that you and Ryu Sungbin killed?"
"Yes," Moon Noa said while nodding. "Father was the one who established the Lab. He was a nightmare to all the Guides back then. He was also the one who tortured the E-Class Guides through his horrible experiments."
"Why would he curse Noh Yuno?"
"I’m not sure either. But, before Father died, he told Yuyu that all the people who would end up falling in love with him would die. He cursed Yuyu to be alone forever."
"Why Noh Yuno? It sounds like that bastard had a personal grudge against him."
"Yuyu was a rebellious teenager, Yoonyoon. It’s not my story to tell, so I’m keeping my mouth shut this time," Moon Noa said. Although he sounded playful, his eyes said otherwise. "All I can tell you is that we wouldn’t have found out about the atrocities of the Lab if it wasn’t for Yuyu."
Haaah.
"I can already imagine Noh Yuno stirring up trouble with his sharp tongue."
Moon Noa just laughed— neither confirming nor denying anything. Then the sly fox quickly changed the topic. "I promise you that we investigated each death thoroughly. We didn’t find any foul play. Maybe except for the first suitor since his body was never recovered. It’s hard to recover bodies from the dungeons, after all."
"Then I’ll start investigating from there," Gayoon said, checking the profile in his hand. The dungeon— including the time and date it appeared— that killed the first suitor was written there, and that was enough information to start his investigation. "You’re useful this time, Moon Noa."
"That’s a weird way to say ’thank you,’ Yoonyoon."
"I’m still upset that you tried to choose a suit for Noh Yuno. For your information, he already gave that job to me."
"I know. Yuyu texted me last night."
Gayoon glared at Moon Noa. "And you still tried to get a suit for him?"
"I just didn’t want to cancel this appointment," Moon Noa said, shrugging. "And I’m really worried about you, Yoonyoon. I know it’s silly, but I don’t want you to die after confessing to Yuyu. Let’s find a way to break the curse first, okay?"
"I won’t confess to someone I don’t have feelings for."
"Let’s make a bet, Yoonyoon," Moon Noa said playfully. "If you confess to Yuyu before the month ends, you have to call me ’hyung’ from then on."
Gayoon scoffed. "If I confess to Noh Yuno before the month ends, just like you hope, then I’ll change my last name to ’Noh.’"
The sly fox suddenly burst out laughing.
"I’m looking forward to you being Yuyu’s malewife, Yoonyoon!"
Whatever.

YUNO drank a bottle of Mana potion after his training session with his fellow Guides ended that afternoon.
This time, only Ryu Sungbin was there to serve as their bodyguard.
For someone who’s supposed to be the country’s number one, Esper Ryu Sungbin-ssi sure looks free.
"Hyung, are you feeling better now?"
"Yes," Yuno said in response to Kim Jaeha’s question. "Don’t worry about me, Jaeha-ssi. My Mana is overflowing, but it’s been a while since I used my abilities for real. So, I’m just having a bit of a hard time gauging how much Mana to use."
He didn’t have to drink Mana potion.
I just did it to serve as a precautionary measure.
"I’m relieved to hear that, Hyung," Kim Jaeha said, smiling shyly. "And please call me comfortably."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Hyung!"
"Alright, Jaeha-ya."
Kim Jaeha’s face beamed. "Hyung, I feel like we’ve grown closer."
"Don’t get too close to me, though," Yuno said casually. "I bring bad luck to people around me."
"It’s okay, Hyung. My parents also said I only brought misfortune to them."
Aigoo.
Yuno ruffled Kim Jaeha’s hair while thinking of something to say to make the kid feel better.
However, Bambi suddenly made a speech.
"Everyone, go and take a quick shower before changing back to your official uniforms," Bambi said— no, ordered, actually. "We’ll officially meet Esper Yang Youngjae-ssi’s Guide later."
Ah, is that why those two are here?
"And Guide Noh Yuno-ssi?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Behave," Bambi said sternly. "Don’t open your mouth unless I give you permission to do so."
Rebecca burst out laughing while Mo Hanjin "coughed" to hide his laughter.
Only Kim Jaeha looked at Yuno with a genuine concern on his face.
Yuno could only avoid everyone’s gaze, stopping himself from talking back to Bambi.
If we get into a dangerous situation and I can only save one person from this bunch, I’m saving Kim Jaeha and no one else.

THAT PUNK isn’t answering my call again.
Ki Gayoon knew that Noh Yuno didn’t want him to enter the HQ, but he wanted to since he was worried that the punk might have pushed himself harder again.
I gave him a bottle of Mana potion, but I’m not sure if that punk would use it.
He tried calling Noh Yuno again after getting out of the elevator, but when he tried to turn to the corner...
Ah, fuck.
Some bastard bumped into him pretty hard.
Of course, Gayoon didn’t budge from where he stood— and he also didn’t drop his phone.
However, the person who bumped into him was sent flying.
No, he didn’t do anything.
The other person was just weak as fuck.
"I’m so sorry, sir!"
Gayoon just ignored the woman who quickly stood up and bowed her head in apology.
He was about to walk past her but, all of a sudden, he felt a painful pang in his heart.
The fuck?
Gayoon dropped his phone this time as he clutched his chest with both hands.
I can’t breathe...
And then there was a loud noise in his head that was driving him insane.
Worst of all...
My Mana is about to drop to the Red Zone!
Fuck.
Why was Gayoon on the verge of Rampaging?!
"Sir, I’m sorry to say this, but it looks like you’re on the verge of a Rampage. I may be a new Guide, but I was taught to give emergency Guiding if I see an Esper—"
"I’m going to kill you," Gayoon growled at the young woman who tried to approach him. His chest was still tightening painfully, and he felt like going crazy, but he was sober enough not to let the stranger guide him. "Touch me and your head is going to explode from where you stand."
Usually, that was enough to scare the Guides who tried to guide him in the past.
However, this woman just smiled as if she found the situation amusing.
"Sir, don’t be like that— I’m here to do my job as a Guide."
Ah, fuck it.
Gayoon was about to snap at any moment now.
"Touch me and you die, you Bambi’s female version."
