Chapter 103: CATCHING FEELINGS

WHILE YUNO was observing his fellow Guides from the Top 5, he realized that the others weren’t just elite— they were also privileged.

I was the only one from the Lab.

He wasn’t saying that his fellow Guides didn’t suffer.

But I’m sure they didn’t suffer as much as I did— they didn’t have to watch their friends getting abused and killed one by one.

Of course, Yuno wouldn’t wish what happened to him upon his worst enemies.

However...

It makes me feel a bit bitter.

"I’m a bad person," Noh Yuno said, his voice cracking a bit. Seeing Ki Gayoon made him feel vulnerable. Hence, he couldn’t help but share his feelings with his Esper. "I hate that the Top 5 Guides didn’t suffer as much as I did as a Guide. That’s horrible of me, isn’t it?"

"Yeah, but I don’t care," Ki Gayoon said casually. "We can just be horrible together, can’t we?"

That was something Yuno already expected to hear from Ki Gayoon.

It was still funny, though.

"Hyung, I have to work harder if I want to match your horrible reputation and personality," Yuno joked while getting up. "Anyway, you shouldn’t encourage me to be a bad person. What if I lose sight of what’s right and what’s wrong because you spoil me?"

"Noh Yuno, I support your rights... and your wrongs."

"You really have a rebellious personality, Hyung."

Ki Gayoon just scoffed, and then he sat next to Yuno. "Move."

"Why are you making a patient move?" Yuno complained, but he moved to give space for the Esper. And he did that while yapping. "Hyung, the bed is too small for two grown men."

"Right?" Ki Gayoon agreed when he was finally seated next to Yuno. "Should I replace all the beds here? You’re actively trying to kill yourself, so I’m sure this won’t be your last time in this infirmary."

"Are you trying to jinx me, Hyung?"

"I’m just telling the truth," Ki Gayoon said, shrugging. "Anyway, I saw Bambi before I got here. He said your training for today is finished. So, we can go home now, right?"

"You met Team Leader Bambi-ssi on your way here? That can’t be a coincidence."

"Yeah. Someone probably tipped him off when I got here since it looked like he was waiting for me at the lobby."

"Hyung, don’t pick me up from now on."

"Are you starting a fight?"

"Hyung, Team Leader Bambi-ssi will just use this chance to meet you "accidentally" every day. What if he attacks you again?"

"As if I’d let him do that to me twice."

"I can go home on my own."

"No can do."

"Hyung, I’m serious," Yuno said, frowning because Ki Gayoon was being difficult. "I know you don’t think much of it, but Team Leader Bambi-ssi is still your assailant. It makes me feel bad that you have to see his face because you’re driving me to work, and then pick me up after. I don’t want to be an instrument for Team Leader Bambi-ssi to see Hyung."

"I actually don’t care about Bambi anymore. I’m already over with what he did to me," Ki Gayoon said. "But if you’re that worried about me, then I’ll actively avoid him from now on. I’ll ignore him unless I need to talk to him for work."

"Don’t meet Team Leader Bambi-ssi alone if you have to talk to him."

"Is this you being jealous, Noh Yuno?"

"Hyung, I’m here worrying about you and, yet, you dare to speak nonsense?"

Ki Gayoon let out a sigh. "Whatever. Anyway, I have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Do you remember Kang Dabin? The sand user from Busan?"

"Hyung’s one and only friend?"

"Kang Dabin isn’t my one and only friend, but yes, I’m talking about him. Did I mention who his Exclusive Guide is?"

Yuno shook his head. "All I know about Esper Kang Dabin-ssi’s Exclusive Guide is they have a big dick."

"Yah. Don’t talk about another man’s dick when I’m here."

"Aigoo. Is it my fault that Hyung’s friend overshared with me?"

Ki Gayoon cursed under his breath. "I should have ended my friendship with Kang Dabin a long time ago."

"Hyung, you’ll have no friends if you ditch Esper Kang Dabin."

"Yah."

Yuno acted like he was zipping his mouth. "So, is it necessary for me to know who Esper Kang Dabin-ssi’s Exclusive Guide is?"

"Yes. You probably know him."

"Really?"

"Do you know Lucca?"

Yuno let out a soft gasp. "The green-eyed French boy known as the ’Golden Angel?’ I’m a fan of his, Hyung. I like kind-hearted people like Guide Lucca-ssi."

Ki Gayoon clicked his tongue. "Never mind. I don’t want to talk about him anymore."

He thought the Esper was only throwing a tantrum.

Because I’m already used to Hyung’s possessiveness.

But Ki Gayoon suddenly stood up and walked out of the room. "Let’s go home."

"Hyung, what about the thing you need to say about Guide Lucca-ssi?" Yuno said, getting up while following behind Ki Gayoon. "I’m curious about that."

"I forgot what I wanted to say, so just forget about it as well."

"Hyung is lying!"

"I’m not."

This old man is being petty again!

"Hyung, you can’t be jealous of Guide Lucca-ssi," Yuno said, annoyed, while keeping up with Ki Gayoon’s pace. The Esper immediately punched the elevator button when they got there. "It’s like a demon getting jealous of an angel— it’s ridiculous."

"Yes, yes, I’m a demon and Lucca is an angel."

"Hyung, are you being for real?"

Ki Gayoon just shrugged, and then he went in the elevator.

Aigoo.

Is Hyung really sulking?

"Hyung, are you mad?"

"..."

"Hyung?"

"..."

"Hyung."

Ki Gayoon leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. "Are you not going to get in?"

"Yes, I’m not," Yuno said, turning his back on Ki Gayoon— heading towards the emergency stairs. "I don’t have the energy to appease you, Hyung."

"Yah!"

OF COURSE, Yuno immediately regretted taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

But he was prideful during strange times, so he didn’t turn back even though Ki Gayoon kept calling his name.

Why would he need to appease an Esper who was being immature?

"Noh Yuno!"

Aigoo.

Yuno felt like he was in a Kdrama when Ki Gayoon suddenly grabbed him by the arm, and then the Esper suddenly forced him to face him.

Hence, as a result, Yuno was forced to lean against the railing behind.

"Why did you leave me there?" Ki Gayoon complained. "You know there’s a serial killer on the loose. Don’t wander around on your own."

"Hyung, I don’t like getting the cold shoulder and the silent treatment," Yuno said sternly while crossing his arms over his chest. "If I crossed the line with my joke earlier, then tell me and I’ll apologize to you properly. I don’t like it when I’m being ignored, especially when I don’t know why. Being ignored makes me overthink— and I hate that feeling."

Ki Gayoon looked surprised and confused. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. So, in the end, he just let out a sigh.

Am I just overreacting?

But...

"I know I have a difficult personality, Hyung. In fact, I was isolated and ignored when I was in the Lab before," Yuno said awkwardly. He didn’t like talking about his past, but he felt like he needed to. After all, he wanted to explain his situation. "So, please don’t do that to me. I get this awful feeling when I’m being ignored. It’s only okay to me if I want to be ignored on purpose. But I hate it when you do it to me without explaining why."

Now he was yapping again.

But I hope Hyung gets the message clear.

"Alright. I got it," Ki Gayoon said, sighing. "I will never ignore you again when I’m upset. But, in return, don’t do it to me as well."

"Okay, Hyung."

"I don’t like the silent treatment either. But you’re good at complaining, so I don’t think I have to worry about that."

"Well, I can be like that sometimes," Yuno admitted, pausing for a moment because he realized that he might be acting like a hypocrite again. "But when I close off my walls, I do it involuntarily sometimes, Hyung. So, if you notice that I stopped being a yapper all of a sudden, don’t hesitate to call me out."

"That’s something I can do."

"Great. So, we’re done fighting, right?"

"Are we?"

Yuno bowed his head. "I’m sorry for joking that Hyung is a demon."

"Fine. Whatever," Ki Gayoon said, sighing. "Let’s go home."

"Hyung, can you use your telekinesis power to lift me? I’m too tired to use the stairs."

"Who told you to throw a tantrum?"

Yuno pouted, avoiding Ki Gayoon’s judgemental gaze. "I already regret it, Hyung."

"I won’t waste my Mana just to encourage you to be lazy," Ki Gayoon scolded him, but he stood in front of Yuno— with his back on him— and bent his knees. "But I can give you a piggyback ride."

DID THIS punk seriously fall asleep?

Ki Gayoon should be pissed that Noh Yuno fell asleep while on his back.

But, instead of getting annoyed, he actually found himself smiling.

If Noh Yuno fell asleep, then he probably found me comfortable.

If that was the case, then Gayoon wouldn’t mind giving Noh Yuno more piggyback rides in the future.

Ah, fucking hell.

They say the person who likes the other more is the loser, right?
