Guide Me If You Dare
Chapter 101: UNFAIR WORLD

Chapter 101: UNFAIR WORLD

AS SOON as Yang Youngjae went on a Rampage, Ki Gayoon snapped his fingers— bringing the Rampaging Esper and Ryu Sungbin to his domain.

Yes, it was inside Beom-seok— the dungeon that he owned.

But he didn’t bring the two Espers anywhere near his mansion (where he brought Noh Yuno before).

Gayoon brought Yang Youngjae and Ryu Sungbin to the rocky mountain near the mine that he owned. There were no life forms there that would be harmed or killed, so he chose that particular area.

So, Yang Youngjae was free to go on a Rampage there.

In fact, he’s already doing that.

Yang Youngjae, consumed by his anger, yelled while making the heavy boulders float— flinging them everywhere.

Does he really have to yell? I don’t remember yelling when I’m on a Rampage.

Gayoon and Ryu Sungbin were unbothered because they were safe inside the shield he made.

"This looks similar to the last dungeon the two of us were in recently."

"Ah, the dungeon where I beat you to a pulp?"

Ryu Sungbin glared at Gayoon. "You only got lucky because the dungeon’s terrain was favorable to your ability, Ki Gayoon."

"You’re such a sore loser, Ryu Sungbin," Gayoon said, laughing. "You sound lame when you blame the terrain for losing. Even if I lose to Lee Sarang, I wouldn’t blame the terrain for it. Man, it’s not cool to do that."

Ryu Sungbin let out a frustrated sigh. "You’re really an annoying piece of shit."

"You should really come up with a creative way to insult me."

"I don’t want to hear that from someone who has a limited vocabulary when it comes to cursing," Ryu Sungbin said, scoffing. "Isn’t "shit" the only swear word you know?"

"Is your memory failing you since you’re old now? I’m no longer the fifteen-year-old kid who only knows ’shit’ as a swear word, you bastard."

"I’m not that old, you damn brat."

"Thirty years old is already old to Noh Yuno," Gayoon said, smirking. "Since you’re already in your mid-thirties, you’re probably a grandfather to that punk."

"You really seize every chance you get to bring up Noh Yihun."

Hmm?

"Noh Yihun?" Gayoon said, knitting his eyebrows. "Why are you calling Noh Yuno by that name?"

Does the punk have another pen name aside from ’banohno?’

"Ah, so Noh Yihun hasn’t told you yet?" Ryu Sungbin asked, smiling arrogantly. "You act like you’re so close to your Exclusive Guide, so I thought he already told you about his old name. But it turns out you don’t even know that he used to be called ’Noh Yihun’ when he was in the Lab."

Gayoon clenched his hands tight, barely stopping himself from punching Ryu Sungbin to erase the arrogant smirk off his face.

So, Noh Yuno’s old name is Noh Yihun?

He only ran a basic background check on Noh Yuno.

Hence, Gayoon didn’t know about Noh Yuno’s life while he was in the Lab.

I was waiting for Noh Yuno to tell me about his life before I met him, but now I’m curious— I can’t stand the fact that Ryu Sungbin knows something about my Exclusive Guide that I don’t know.

"Don’t look at me like that," Ryu Sungbin said. He was no longer smiling, but he still looked and sounded arrogant. "It’s not my fault that I met Noh Yihun before you did. If you had gone with us when we destroyed the Lab before, then you would have met him first."

Tsk.

Gayoon hated to admit this, but now he really regretted not joining the rebellion that Ryu Sungbin and Moon Noa started.

Maybe if I had met Noh Yuno then, I wouldn’t have suffered for a decade.

Ah, no.

That would be too cruel to Noh Yuno.

"I wouldn’t have wanted Noh Yuno the Ki Gayoon back then," Gayoon said, calmer now. He even unclenched his hands because he didn’t feel like punching Ryu Sungbin anymore. "If I did, I would have locked him up and used him as a mere source of Mana— just like what you almost did to Moon Noa."

Ryu Sungbin’s face darkened— his face full of anger. "Why do you keep bringing up my history with Moon Noa?"

"You pissed me off first. So, why wouldn’t I do the same?"

"Bastard—"

Ryu Sungbin was about to grab Gayoon’s collar, but he stopped when a huge boulder hit their shield.

Oh, right— we’re not alone here.

When Gayoon turned to Yang Youngjae, he realized that the Rampaging Esper was now glaring at him and Ryu Sungbin.

And Yang Youngjae looks like he wants to kill us.

"So, what’s the real reason you brought Yang Youngjae here?" Ryu Sungbin said, his attention focused on Yang Youngjae now. "What are you aiming?"

"I’m just letting him grieve properly," Gayoon said, putting his hands in the pockets of his trousers. "If Yang Youngjae snapped in the outside world, the government would just ask us to stop him. I just thought letting him go on a Rampage freely would at least help him grieve properly."

"When did you start caring about your fellow Espers?"

"Noh Yuno cried."

"Huh?" Ryu Sungbin asked, knitting his eyebrows as if he was confused. "So, what if Noh Yuno cried? What does it have to do with this?"

"Noh Yuno cried when Choi Kangmin died," Gayoon said. He hated to admit this, but his voice sounded soft when talking about Noh Yuno. "I wanted Yang Youngjae to grieve the way an Esper should after losing their Exclusive Guide."

Because, if Gayoon lost Noh Yuno, he felt like he could destroy the world as a way of grieving.

IT MAY have looked funny to other people, but Yuno had no choice but to ask his fellow Guides to hold each other’s hands.

We probably look like kids playing at the moment.

Hence, as a result, the five of them formed a circle while holding hands— their eyes closed, and everyone was letting Yuno manage the flow of their Mana.

I used to do this for my former colleagues, but this is different.

In the first place, the "weight class" was different because the Guides he was helping at the moment ranged from S-Class to A-Class.

Their Mana is thicker and heavier than my E-Class Guides colleagues.

So, Yuno had to work harder than he expected.

Is this my karma for being a busybody?

"I think I’m starting to get the hang of it," Rebecca said, the amusement evident in her voice. "I didn’t know we could move our Mana like this."

"Right," Mo Hanjin, who rarely spoke, said in agreement with Rebecca. "I feel a buff in my power."

"I’m glad everyone is already getting the hang of it. We should end our class here for today," Bambi announced. "Guide Noh Yuno-ssi, your nose is bleeding. Please go to the infirmary."

Huh?

Yuno opened his eyes.

When he did, only then did he realize that everyone was looking at him with different reactions on their faces.

Of course, Bambi didn’t look like he cared genuinely.

Rebecca was looking at Yuno pitifully, while Mo Hanjin just avoided his gaze.

"H-Hyung, here," Kim Jaeha said, handing Yuno his handkerchief. It felt like déjà vu since something like that had already happened before. "I’ll take you to the infirmary."

"Thanks," Yuno said, accepting Kim Jaeha’s handkerchief and using it right away. "See you tomorrow for our next lesson."

Rebecca just nodded.

Mo Hanjin didn’t even say goodbye as he simply put his headphones on.

"See you tomorrow, Guide Noh Yuno-ssi," Bambi said formally. "Thank you for today."

Yuno just bowed politely towards the Team Leader before he left the Training Hall 1 with Kim Jaeha.

The young Guide only opened his mouth when the two of them were in the elevator.

"Hyung, can I ask something?"

"You’re already doing that, silly."

Kim Jaeha just smiled shyly before he asked. "Where did Hyung learn how to protect your Core? When I awakened as a Guide, they only taught me how to take care of Espers. I didn’t know we could use our Mana to protect ourselves. Is that something taught to the older generation of Guides that they don’t teach the new generation anymore?"

Right.

I belong to the "old" generation.

"Kim Jaeha, have you heard of the Lab?"

As expected, Kim Jaeha’s face instantly turned flustered. "I heard it was a place where the old generation of Guides was experimented on..."

"Right," Yuno confirmed indifferently. "We either die or learn how to protect ourselves."

***

YUNO stared at the ceiling, wondering how long he had fallen asleep.

He remembered going to the infirmary with Kim Jaeha.

The doctor there gave him a potion to refill his Mana. Since the potion made him drowsy, the doctor asked him to lie down on the bed.

He thought he’d only take a nap.

But it seems like I fell asleep longer than expected.

"I’m hungry," Yuno whispered to himself. "And I forgot to call Gayoon Hyung..."

"You sure did."

Hmm?

Yuno turned to the direction where the voice had come from.

And there he is.

Ki Gayoon was leaning against the door frame— his arms crossed over his chest, his sexy forearms exposed since the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up.

Dammit.

Gayoon Hyung isn’t my type, but why does he look more attractive each time I see him?

"Noh Yuno, did I tell you to work hard?" Ki Gayoon asked, sighing while shaking his head. "If you have the energy to waste, then just use it to play with me. The next time you end up in the infirmary due to exhaustion, I’ll blow up this building."

Gayoon Hyung really has a strange way of expressing his concern.

But Yuno felt like he didn’t deserve it.

"Hyung."

"What?"

"I’m a bad person," Noh Yuno said, his voice cracking a bit. "I hate that the Top 5 Guides didn’t suffer as much as I did as a Guide. That’s horrible of me, isn’t it?"

"Yeah, but I don’t care," Ki Gayoon said casually. "We can just be horrible together, can’t we?"
