Guide Me If You Dare -
Chapter 100: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Chapter 100: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
HOW ELSE am I supposed to explain it?
Yuno’s brain buffered for a moment.
Hence, he stared blankly at the people around him.
Why did I forget I’m not qualified to teach?
Right now, Yuno was in the Training Hall 1 with Bambi, Mo Hanjin, Kim Jaeha, and Rebecca.
Training Hall 1 was like a small arena, and it looked bland.
The walls, the bleachers, the floor, and the ceiling were all white with a touch of gold.
God, the color palette in this room is so depressing.
Their uniforms, too.
All of the Top 5 Guides wore a white tracksuit with a golden emblem on the left part of the chest area.
It was the symbol of the National Guide Bureau.
Anyway, it wasn’t safe for the most elite Guides of the country to gather in one place. So, of course, their "bodyguards" were there.
The arena had a second floor— aka the Balcony— with a glass wall.
From there, they could see Lee Sarang, Matthew, and Jin Sooin watching them while sitting on spacious and soft-looking sofa chairs.
I wish I was there, too.
"How do you do it, Guide Noh Yuno-ssi?" Bambi asked. In fairness, he sounded curious and not annoyed even though they didn’t have progress for the past two hours since their training began. "I get that you imagine coating your heart with a gem similar to a diamond. But how do you get to that thought process."
Oho?
Bambi’s question actually made sense.
Since Team Leader questioned my thought process, it made me realize my own method, step by step.
Was that the reason Bambi was the Team Leader?
Anyway...
"Watch the flow of your Mana," Yuno said while looking at his arms. "Our Mana is like blood flowing in our veins. Then, slowly gather your Mana in the center of your heart. When we are Guiding an Esper, we release the Mana in our Core until it spread in our body. So, when our Espers touch us, our Mana gets transferred to them. Now, let’s do the opposite."
He raised his head, checking his "students."
Thankfully, everyone seemed to be listening intently.
Good.
"Let’s do the opposite this time," Yuno continued with his explanation. "Gather all the Mana that is spread in your body. Imagine your blood carrying your Mana through your veins until it reach your heart."
One by one, the elite Guides around him slowly closed their eyes.
Yes, they’re starting to get it.
That encouraged Yuno to continue with his lesson.
"Then, once your Mana is gathered in the center of your heart, imagine your Core as a transparent crystal ball," Yuno said, hoping that his explanation was better this time. "Then use the excess Mana to create a fake Core. Once you successfully imagine a bigger transparent crystal ball, imagine putting the smaller Core inside. After that, once the Core is inside the bigger crysal ball, imagine it melting."
"And then imagine it hugging the Core until it’s crystalized, right?"
It was Bambi.
When Yuno turned to the Team Leader.
He wasn’t surprised to see Bambi’s chest area releasing a golden aura— the symbol that said the Team Leader succeeded in protecting his Core.
As expected of an S-Class Guide.
Moon Noa also got it right away.
Yes, I already taught Sajangnim this technique. Hence, he isn’t here.
But that didn’t mean Moon Noa was slacking off.
My boss is in charge of organizing the party while we’re training.
"Team Leader Bambi-ssi, you did well," Yuno said while lightly clapping his hands. "I’m proud of you."
"I can help you teach now," Bambi said, and then he paused for a moment before he opened his mouth to give a suggestion. "Guide Noh Yuno-ssi, instead of verbally explaining the process to them, is it possible to help them feel the flow of their Mana first?"
Oh.
Was that the problem all this time?
Yuno turned to Mo Hanjin, Kim Jaeha, and Rebecca. "You can’t feel the flow of your Mana?"
"I think I’m speaking for all of us when I say we actually don’t pay attention as to how our Mana moves," Rebecca, who seemed to be the "spokesperson" among the three (since Mo Hanjin rarely talked and Kim Jaeha was too shy to speak his mind), said worriedly. "We awakened as high-class Guides, so we didn’t undergo any kind of training. Guiding comes naturally to us, so we didn’t bother learning how we do it."
Ah.
That was the stereotype for geniuses— that everything came "naturally" to them.
Of course, it was true at most occasions.
But, for Guides, it’s just ignorance.

GAYOON wasn’t really comfortable talking about Noh Yuno to other people, so he was grateful to Ryu Sungbin’s interruption.
"How’s Yang Youngjae?" Ryu Sungbin asked impatiently, standing next to Gayoon. Just like him, Ryu Sungbin had to raise his head because Lucca was taller than him, too. "Has he finally calmed down?"
Right.
Since Yang Youngjae’s Guide died tragically, the National Guide Bureau had to call Lucca to keep the Esper from Rampaging again.
We can only talk to Yang Youngjae once he’s calm.
"Esper Yang Youngjae-ssi has calmed down a bit, sir," Lucca said, answering Ryu Sungbin’s question politely. "Esper Yang Youngjae still loses it if he gets reminded of what happened to Guide Choi Kangmin-ssi."
"We don’t have the luxury to wait for Yang Youngjae to get better," Gayoon said, walking past Lucca. "We have questions for him, and we need answer now."
"We’ll deal with him," Ryu Sungbin said, patting Lucca’s shoulder. "So, evacuate all the Civilians to the shelter."
"There’s no need to evacuate the Civilians," Gayoon said while heading to Yang Youngjae’s room. "But make sure no one else is in this floor, Lucca— even you. And, no matter what happens, don’t let any Esper come here. We’ll be fine. If we’re in danger, I’ll send Ryu Sungbin out first."
Ryu Sungbin just scoffed at what Gayoon said.
Lucca, on the other hand, responded politely. "I understand, Hyung."
Gayoon didn’t respond since Lucca immediately left the premise.
He’s really like a golden retriever.
Anyways, Gayoon opened the door and entered Yang Youngjae’s room.
Of course, Ryu Sungbin was behind him.
"Are you planning to let Yang Youngjae go on a Rampage?" Ryu Sungbin asked curiously. "I guess you’re going to use that "weird" skill of yours."
"What "weird" skill are you talking about?"
"The one that allows you to move to a different dimension."
Aha.
It was the skill that Gayoon revealed to the world for the first time when he fought Yang Youngjae in an official match.
And it was the skill that he was really about to use.
Tsk.
Ryu Sungbin is really as sharp as ever.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Gayoon said, refusing to admit anything. Then he sat on the chair next to Yang Youngjae’s bed. The Esper was asleep. And he looked really sick even though he wasn’t visibly hurt anywhere. "Yang Youngjae, I know you’re already awake."
Yang Youngjae was still an S-Class Esper, after all.
There’s no way this bastard didn’t feel me and Ryu Sungbin coming.
Moreover...
Sleeping is mostly an escape goat for Espers on the verge of insanity.
Gayoon would know since he was in the same place just a few weeks ago.
That was how he knew that Yang Younjae wasn’t really asleep.
He’s simply running away from reality.
However...
"Your Exclusive Guide is already dead, and he won’t be coming back to life even if you kill yourself."
Ryu Sungbin, who was standing next to Gayoon, looked at him in disbelief.
Gayoon just shrugged.
"I was hoping you wouldn’t be too hard on me, Gayoon Hyung-nim," Yang Youngjae said weakly while opening his red eyes. And then he turned to Gayoon— his eyes dead and soulless. "Can’t you just let me grieve in peace?"
"Well, I can do that," Gayoon said, raising an eyebrow. "But I don’t want my Guide to end up dead like yours, so I need you statement—"
"ESPER KI GAYOON!"
It was Yang Youngjae.
The bastard who looked like he was on his death bed earlier suddenly got up, and everything around them started to float.
Yes, even the chair that Gayoon was sitting on.
In short, Yang Youngjae was on the verge of a Rampage again.
"Is this your brilliant plan?" Ryu Sungbin asked, scoffing. "To make Yang Youngjae mad as if he wasn’t yet? You crazy bastard."
Gayoon stood up— no, he actually levitated. "Just watch and learn, Ryu Sungbin."
***
LUCCA, known as the ’Golden Angel,’ got worried when he felt Yang Youngjae on the verge of going on a Rampage again.
But he couldn’t do anything since Ki Gayoon told him not to disturb them.
Is this really the right thing to do?
"Lucca-ssi!"
Lucca turned to his secretary who was running towards him with a bright smile on her face. "What is it, Noona?"
"I just got a call from the Bureau!" Nam Chaewon, his secretary, said excitedly. "Among the newly awakened Guides that we asked to have a matching rate test with Esper Yang Youngjae-ssi early this morning, one of them got a 79% match with him!"
For real?
When Yang Youngjae calmed down a bit earlier, they kind of forced him to take a matching rate with the newly awakened Guides in the Bureau.
It’s protocol.
It was something that they had to do because Yang Youngjae was a high-ranking Esper.
Hence, Esper Yang Youngjae-ssi needs a new Exclusive Guide ASAP.
Lucca was hoping for the best outcome, but he still found the situation a bit surreal.
Aren’t we being a bit too lucky?
