Chapter 173: WarEmbrace arrives
The Curtains swung open, a little winter breeze followed along, drawing the attention of every noble present.
Silence fell, as if a spell had been cast, and all eyes turned towards the entrance. There, framed by the imposing doorway, stood Cristiana WarEmbrace.
Her golden armor gleamed under the light, the royal insignia embossed on her chest plate catching the eye of all who gazed upon her. Each step she took echoed through the hall, the sound of metal on stone a reminder of her warrior’s prowess.
Her hair, the color of spun gold, flowed freely down her back, a stark contrast to the cold steel she wore. There was an ethereal beauty about her, a presence that demanded attention and respect.
Behind her, in perfect formation, followed her war sisters. Each woman was clad in armor identical to Cristiana’s, their expressions stern and unyielding.
They moved with a grace that belied their strength, their gazes sweeping over the nobles with a mix of disdain and superiority. It was clear they saw themselves as the defenders of the realm, and by extension, above the frivolities of those of the court.
As Cristiana advanced towards the head of the tent, whispers began to ripple through the crowd.
"That’s Cristiana War Embrace, the Golden Hunter of the Royal Family," one noble murmured to his companion, eyes wide with admiration.
"Did you hear how she single-handedly took down that pack of Great Wandering Bear soul beasts attacking the north?" another whispered, unable to tear her gaze away. "They say she moves like a shadow and strikes with the fury of a storm."
"She’s not even of the royal blood," came a hushed voice, filled with awe. "Yet here she is, representing the crown. There’s no one like her, the Golden Hunter."
Cristiana reached the far end of the tent, and took her seat at the head of the gathering, her war sisters flanking her. The nobles around her fell silent, their eyes filled with a mixture of respect and fear. Her presence alone was enough to command the room, her achievements in battle spoken of in reverent tones.
A slight smile played on Cristiana’s lips as she settled into her chair. She knew the power she held over these people, knew the tales they told of her exploits. The nickname "Golden Hunter of the Royal Family" was one she wore with pride, a testament to her skills and dedication. Though not born of royal blood, she had earned her place here through sheer will and unmatched prowess in battle.
Her war sisters, ever vigilant, stood behind her, their gazes still fixed on the crowd. To them, these nobles were mere figures in a game they played to protect the realm. They were warriors first and foremost, bound by their duty and their loyalty to Cristiana.
As the gathering commenced, the nobles continued to steal glances at Cristiana, their conversations peppered with her name and her deeds.
Of course, not all of them did this. For a man like William Icemaker, although he respected her achievements, he did not see her as a warrior, but rather a mere woman. And as such, did not think so fondly of her. Besides, they was the fact that she was also not of royal blood, and he generally did not like anyone being praised more than himself.
Christiana noticed his gaze, but said nothing about it. According to what she knew, Herself and this William were around the same power level. Although she was sure that he was weaker than her, she knew that a fight with him would not see that she was unscathed.
Also, he was of a titled bloodline, and next in line to the Grand dukedom.
Nevertheless, that did not stop her war sisters from looking at him with malice.
Eros observed this daughter of the Old WarEmbrace family. Just as their name ensured, they were a family that had more corpses under their belt than bronze coins.
Although she was supposed to be under the command of the King, any one that knew true gossip knew that Christiana was under the command of the Queen, and the King at this point was nearly without power in the kingdom.
Nevertheless, this was not going to affect the status position of this meeting.
Just then, Eros noticed that just as he observed her, her eyes also looked in his direction. If not that he was who he was, and for a split second, he could see the doubt in her eyes, he would have believed that she had found him out.
"Impressive!" Eros commended from the bottom of his heart.
All had arrived and the meeting was to commence. However, just then, the curtains flung open again, and another fellow walked in.
he was dressed in humble clothes, and behind him were other monks holding a thread of beads in a praying position.
The person in the fore front was none other than young Master Jan, and those behind him were from the Ministry Of Heavenly judgement.
On their arrival, one of the war sisters removed her sword and pointed it at the neck of young master Jan. "How dare you enter this gathering after Lady Christiana!"
The blade was so close that it gave the impression that if young master Jan so much as bent his neck, then his head would roll on the ground.
Then again, young master Jan had no intension of moving.
"I come today void of my title as a young master, but a disciple of the Ministry of Heavenly judgement." then he raised his eyes to Christiana’s, "are you saying that you do not want the sanctification of the heavens for such an endeavor?"
Those words were sharp, but they were the right words as they made the War sister frown and drop her sword.
Religion had to be respected, especially during war times. If news went out that the royal family was obstructing the Ministry of heavenly Judgement, things would not go right.
Seeing that things had gotten a bit awkward, Luke quickly stood up to mediate things...
