Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire
Chapter 61: Ennobling a Lord

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Ennobling a Lord

The sky was blue as a wash, the white clouds like cotton.

Under the scorching sun, Palu, who was working, heard a call by his ear, and immediately stood up, a smile involuntarily appearing on his face as he looked at his wife coming to bring him water.

"Why don’t you rest a little longer at home?"

Seeing his wife’s figure, Palu’s face was filled with a look of happiness because his wife’s belly had a very obvious bulge, which was his greatest motivation for sweating in the wheat field.

"I’ve had plenty of rest, I’m not like those noble ladies."

The woman’s appearance was not particularly beautiful, her figure had nothing to do with slim and slender, her frame was even considered tall, not at all smaller than her husband,

"Drink some water, take a break."

The woman handed over the earthen jar, Palu took the water, and pulling the woman, perfect in his eyes, sat on the ridge of the field, taking big gulps of the sweet and salty water.

"Before the sun sets, I can clean out all the weeds in our acre of land."

Palu vowed to the woman, but the woman looked distressed, wiping the sweat pouring down the man’s body with a coarse towel.

"It’s fine to be late by a few days, no need to work so hard, we already have plenty of food at home."

"How can there be such a thing as too much food..."

Palu heard his wife’s words and smiled, about to say something when a roar, sharp like an eagle’s cry and resonant like a lion’s roar, erupted, deafening, and Palu’s body instantly froze.

Screech—

A large shadow was cast down from the sky, enveloping the two of them, shielding them from the sun’s burning, yet the cool shade grew in the depths of their hearts.

Palu forcefully suppressed his fear, suddenly looked up, and saw the monster casting shadows above them.

It was a magical creature combining all the merits of the fierce birds in the sky and the mighty beasts on the ground, its wings covered in gold-brown feathers, wide and powerful, each flap causing a strong airflow, its body large and robust, muscle lines smooth, limbs thick and strong, with sharp claws at the ends...

Griffin!

Palu had no doubt that should this enormous monster desire, he and his wife would become its meal in the blink of an eye.

However, fortunately, the shadow looming over their heads only lingered for a moment; the terrifying beast ignored them, flying towards Elisium City without looking back.

But before Palu and his wife could feel joy from surviving, another shadow descended upon them.

Palu looked dazedly at the sky above, unable to count the number of Griffins coming from afar, with unified targets, directly towards the main city.

And these monsters, commonly found in minstrel tales and storybooks, were not the sole rulers of the sky at this moment; there was also another, more ferocious high-rank monster soaring, keeping pace with the Griffins.

Two-legged Flying Dragon

"By Noah above!"

Indescribable unease and fear grew in Palu’s heart; he tightly grasped his wife’s hand, instinctively praying, though not to any divine.

In this regard, it was not just Palu alone; the open wings of the Griffin group and Dragon group blocked out the clouds and sun, nearly cutting off the sunlight. This scene stupefied the farmers outside Elisium City.

However, when the familiar Golden Dragon Banner flew before the farmers’ eyes, the negative emotions of fear and unease were almost instantly swept away.

That was a Giant with snow-white skin, so tall it seemed they could touch the clouds. They held the Golden Dragon Banner, surrounded by Griffins and Dragons, advancing slowly towards the edge of the city on the plains.

"Most high and holy Noah, please protect us..."

Someone, unable to bear the immense pressure of such a scene, knelt on the ground, praying to the imposing Golden Dragon on the banner in the Giant’s hand.

"Tsk, truly awe-inspiring!"

In the forecourt of the Dragon Nest, Ted looked down at the Cloud Giants passing through the city below, clicking his tongue in wonder. Even he was witnessing such a scene for the first time.

"Speaking of which, Noah, why don’t you want Uther City? That city has been quite well-remodeled now, it’s not like what you saw before."

"Because my last name isn’t Augustus."

"So you wanted Elidis Mountain?"

"Whether Golden Dragons or Cloud Giants, they like to live on high mountains, and Elidis Mountain range is most suitable."

Noah said casually, Elidis Mountain was not an isolated peak but a vast mountain range. The mountain occupied by Dragon Nest now was part of the periphery of this range.

Even the current Augustus family, with its oversized Duke Territory, only incorporated part of this mountain range into its domain. As for actual control, it’s roughly nonexistent.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that although Noah accepted the land granted by the Augustus family, he didn’t hold any title. His current status doesn’t fit anywhere in the existing noble system of humanity.

He had the land and also had an armed force established with the help of his adoptive father, while his adoptive mother promised him independent tax and legislative power in his land.

The reason for such indulgence was that the Duchess wanted to see what the Golden Dragon could stir in its territory. Stirring within given bounds was better than stirring in Elisium City.

If there were good results, they could be promoted throughout the land; if not, it would be ignored.

"Noah, they have come up!"

"I see them, their settlements have already been arranged, why are you in such a hurry?"

Noah rolled his eyes, speaking with some annoyance. The Cloud Giants had been following a predetermined route, and their settlement location, upon arrival, was behind the Dragon Nest, heading deeper into the Elidis Mountain range.

"Rather than these, shouldn’t you be paying attention to your wedding? Your wedding with that Duke’s granddaughter is almost here, right?"

"What’s there to worry about? When the time comes, I’ll just go through the motions."

Ted rubbed his hair nonchalantly, showing indifference.

"This is the ceremony to formally marry your wife, such an attitude is too perfunctory."

Noah noticed the young man’s anomaly, showing a look of inquiry in his eyes,

"Don’t you like that girl?"

"Of course I like her. My mother is very fond of Edith, my father also appreciates her and even taught her a sword skill. How could I not like her?"

The young man shrugged slightly, opened his hands, revealing a careless smile that seemed a bit roguish, with a bit of street rascal flair,

"Moreover, disregarding her background and talent, Edith’s appearance can easily rank in the top three of all the women I’ve ever seen. Being able to marry such a flawless woman is probably the luckiest thing in my life."
