God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!
Chapter 53: Gabriel Vs the Shelter: A One Man Army [1]

Chapter 53: Gabriel Vs the Shelter: A One Man Army [1]

Unlike the fantasy worlds where teleportation magic was common, in the Realm of Ascendency, it was rather rare and very expensive. It was nearly impossible to find a teleportation gate, as they were usually monopolized by guilds or large corporations like the Graves.

Therefore, the primary source of transportation was automobiles.

Gabriel arrived at the busy train station. Several adventurer parties walked around, wielding swords, daggers, staffs, and other magical weapons.

There was even a rare sight—an all-gunslinger party walking around with mana guns. Both long-range precision rifles and rapid-fire variants were extremely expensive. It was easy to tell that those gunslingers came from a wealthy background.

After all, a single one of those weapons cost around 500,000 to 1,000,000$—and that was for the less destructive models.

He found a train heading east and boarded it without much hassle. Once the train was full, it began to move. The ride was mostly smooth, with a few monsters occasionally blocking the path.

As it happened, the same gunslinger party had boarded the train heading east. With their powerful, high-grade mana guns, they climbed onto the roof of the moving train, and a storm of bullets rained down on the beasts that attacked.

Gabriel watched through his window as bullets casually pierced through the skull of a wolf-like creature, splattering blood and brain matter across the forest floor.

He unconsciously compared himself to the beast—and wondered how he would fare against a gunslinger. Would he be fast enough to deflect all the bullets with his sword?

It was something he wasn’t really confident about, even though his agility was in the hundreds.

’I wonder who created those guns... they seem pretty destructive,’ he thought, sneaking a peek at one of the weapons—and spotted the emblem.

Graves.

’Of course it’s them.’

Some other parties also stepped outside occasionally to deal with monsters. Along the way, the train came to abrupt stops, dropping off adventurers in the wilderness and picking up others who had completed their hunts or quests for their respective guilds.

According to the game lore, the railway was built by King Alveron III, and several workers had died to monsters in order to bring the project to completion.

At the time, Gabriel had praised the developers for paying attention to such little details—but now, he realized the construction and deaths of the rail workers had actually happened.

Some time later, the gunslinger party disembarked in a mountainous region. More and more people were dropped in the middle of the wilderness.

After sitting for nearly two hours, he decided to stretch his muscles. He climbed out of the train and summoned Crimson Edge, eyes fixed on a Mutated Jumping Bunny—the size of a dog with glowing red eyes.

With terrifying agility, the creature leapt forward at him.

Swish! Swish!

With practiced ease, Gabriel cut down the monsters before they could even get within ten meters of him.

Since he gained EP from killing monsters—no matter how little—he decided to stay outside for the rest of the trip.

One of the hopping bunnies, far larger than the others, slipped past his slash and began charging at intense speed.

[Mutated Jumping Bunny – LV.25]

His eyes glinted when he saw the abnormal speed at which the beast approached. It was as fast as a charging train—and thrice the size of a normal dog.

When the bunny reached arm’s length, it swiped its claw at his neck, but Gabriel activated Burrow Shift and vanished into the ground, reappearing behind the creature.

The bunny sensed him and hastily turned around—only for its head to thud to the ground before it could complete the turn.

"Extract!"

[Ding! You have extracted +4 Agility.]

Soon, he reached his final destination—the eastern border. He happened to be outside during arrival, so he simply jumped off the train, landing softly on the ground.

After making the necessary arrangements regarding when the train would return to pick him up, Gabriel brought out the map and studied it with a serious expression.

"I still need to walk a little further south," he muttered with a frown, beginning to follow the marked trail.

Naturally, being this deep inside the wilderness, the area was densely populated with monsters.

However, he didn’t care—he had summoned Grizzlenaught, who handled all beasts that dared to attack while Gabriel focused on locating the shelter where the auction would take place.

In the Realm of Ascendency, it was common for powerful individuals to build settlements in the wilderness, as it was considered no-man’s land.

However, building such settlements was expensive and risky due to constant monster attacks. But once stabilized, it was akin to owning a private city—where you made your own rules, without reporting to any king or queen from the neighboring kingdoms.

Minutes flew by as he continued studying the map while Grizzlenaught tore through any attacking beasts.

After nearly an hour of walking, he finally spotted the towering walls of the settlement. About four guards patrolled the front gate in perfect rotation, like clockwork.

Squinting, he also detected the hidden presence of archers in strategic locations, all aiming toward the front—ready to rain arrows at the slightest suspicious movement.

Naturally, he didn’t approach right away. If he did, he’d be cut down instantly, and dozens of poison-infused arrows would pierce him.

He crouched behind a tree, observing the settlement with narrowed eyes. The guards weren’t your average thugs either. From the way they stood and how their eyes constantly scanned the surroundings, it was clear they were trained—not elite, but experienced enough.

’How do I approach this? Should I use brute force and blast through their defenses?’

From his position, he heard loud chanting from within the walls—which made him realize the auction might have already started.

’Alright... let’s do this.’ His eyes shone with conviction as a plan slowly formed in his mind.

Without hesitation, he raised a finger and whispered softly,

"Dark Flame Orb?"
