Chapter 12: Violence is prohibited here

Chapter 12: Violence is prohibited here

Sophie was stunned, her grip on the report tightening to the point it crumpled into a ball.

Cecilia was surprised. She hadn’t expected Samuel to suddenly do this.

However, she found it amusing. This place was like a stage, full of drama.

Thinking Cecilia was smiling at his efforts, Samuel thought he had succeeded. He was proud of himself.

Unable to hold back, Sophie rushed over and snatched the bouquet from his hand.

When Samuel realized it was Sophie, a look of disgust crossed his face.

"What are you doing here?"

His words made Sophie’s tears finally burst out.

"What do you mean?" She cried as she said, "Didn’t you text me to come here, Samuel?"

He frowned in confusion. "When did I text you? Are you dreaming?"

’It wasn’t for me?’

The realization hit Sophie like a thunderbolt, ringing in her ears.

If the text wasn’t for her, then he must’ve made a mistake and meant it for someone else. Moreover, that someone else was... Cecilia?!

Sophie’s heart shattered, but she didn’t dare to lash out at Samuel. Instead, she redirected all her anger and resentment toward Cecilia.

She glared at Cecilia and shouted, "You despicable woman. It’s all your fault!"

After shouting, she was about to throw the bouquet at her.

Samuel stopped her and yelled, "What’re you doing, you stupid shrew? She’s your sister!"

Sophie had planned to reveal her pregnancy and display a scene of a happy family with him, but Cecilia had totally ruined it. She hated Cecilia to the core.

She cursed bitterly, "What sister?! She’s just some skank who seduces people’s fiancés! Samuel, she definitely fooled you. She probably just wants revenge against us!"

Samuel was annoyed as he replied, "I was engaged to Cecilia before, and we still love each other."

With that, he eagerly turned to Cecilia and asked, "Right, Cecilia?"

Cecilia casually dusted off her pants and responded, "Nonsense."

She had figured it out. It seemed that Sophie deliberately brought her here to embarrass her, but she ended up getting embarrassed instead.

How boring.

Cecilia didn’t want to stay any longer. As she tried to leave, Samuel grabbed her wrist.

"Cecilia, why won’t you admit it?"

She shook off his hand with a disdainful look.

"Samuel, our engagement is already off. Please stop bothering me."

With that, people started gossiping.

"Didn’t Samuel dump Cecilia? Why is he chasing her now?"

"I heard he’s been harassing her for days, and he even got a warning from the hotel she’s staying at."

Their gossip, fueled from not only rumors, made Samuel turn pale and flush red when he heard them.

On the other hand, Sophie continued to fuel the fire.

"Samuel, she must’ve played you!"

He clenched his fists. His reputable self had just been publicly rejected by his ex-fiancé, who even used to be mute. Where would he put his face now?

Taking advantage of this situation, Sophie shouted to the surrounding crowd, "What are you all standing there for? Beat this woman to death for me!"

The hall was filled with Samuel and Sophie’s friends, and everyone began to surround Cecilia as they heard this.

"How dare you..."

Cecilia sneered and casually flicked her wrist.

At that moment, Steven, who was standing ten meters away in the corridor, saw the situation.

A beautiful woman was being surrounded by multiple people.

Despite that, she seemed as calm as ever, but her eyes glinted with determination.

Were they about to attack her?

He entered the banquet hall unconsciously.

"Stop!"

He commanded in a cold voice, followed by a group of well-trained bodyguards who instantly surrounded everyone in the room.

He stood at the door in his custom-tailored suit, a tear-shaped birthmark at the corner of his eye while he exuded bone-chilling aura. He looked around the place as he calmly said, "Violence is prohibited here."

Cecilia looked slightly disappointed. This man was too strict with rules, stopping her from going wild.

The others were also frightened by the current situation.

Steven’s assistant, Zane, not wanting people to act foolish, wasted no time in introducing Steven.

"This is the Lawrence family’s head, Mr. Steven Lawrence."

At that moment, everyone’s face changed.

No one dared to provoke the Lawrences, especially not Steven Lawrence!

Zane continued, "If anyone still wants to face Mr. Lawrence’s wrath, you are welcome to stay."

With those words, everyone unrelated immediately left in three seconds, including Samuel.

He wasn’t that stupid.

If Lady Kingsley discovered he had offended the Lawrences, he might even be disowned. He didn’t want that outcome.

However, there was still one bold person left, Sophie Morrison.

She didn’t know the Lawrences at all. She had dedicated everything she knew to play love affairs.

She started, "You mute..."

Smack!

Before she could finish, Cecilia had slapped her.

Sophie looked up. "You..."

Smack!

Another one came.

Cecilia raised her hand again, preparing for a third strike.

Sophie covered her face and crawled toward Steven, wanting help.

"You said, v-violence is prohibited here...!"

Steven raised an eyebrow at Cecilia.

She didn’t care about his rules, and he knew it.

Cecilia grabbed Sophie’s collar.

"Violence? I’m just fixing your foul mouth. You should thank me instead."

Smack!

She slapped her again.

Sophie was truly scared again.

"You’re insane! Let go of me! I won’t curse at you anymore, okay!"

Cecilia crouched down, looking down at Sophie.

"Tell me what you promised."

Of course, Sophie knew what she had to do and quickly wiped the blood from her lips.

"The child... the child..."
