Chapter 11: Party

The first floor of the banquet hall was filled with people.

’Seems like Sophie invited all of them. What’s she up to?’

Cecilia stood at the entrance, gazing coldly at Sophie in the middle of the crowd.

Sophie was wearing a white evening gown, and her face flushed as she stood in a corner with a glass of wine in hand. Beside her were a group of people mindlessly flattering her.

"Goodness, renting here for one night costs quite a lot, right? I heard your wedding with Mr. Kingsley has been confirmed. Will you be announcing the good news tonight?"

"You’re definitely going to reveal the wedding date, right? Also, where’s your sister? I heard she returned the ring since her engagement is over now."

"That damn mute is really disgusting. If it weren’t for her hiding abroad all these years and delaying her engagement from being canceled, you and Young Master Kingsley would’ve been married by now!"

"Shh, she’s right here!"

A female companion pointed toward Cecilia, which also made Sophie look over.

Cecilia dressed casually today, but she was still so beautiful that nobody could look away from her.

The moment she arrived, Samuel saw her and quietly left the hall. He couldn’t hide the excitement on his face.

Feeling the crowd looking at her, Cecilia was annoyed. She quickly approached Sophie.

No matter what, business came first.

As she walked over, she was hit by the strong smell of different perfumes from the people around Sophie. She covered her mouth and nose involuntarily.

Everyone’s faces changed as they looked at her suspiciously.

Sophie suppressed her displeasure and pretended to greet Cecilia warmly.

"Sister, why are you here? Today is an important day for me. Please don’t ruin it like last time, okay?"

As she spoke, the people around her also chimed in.

"Cecilia, why are you everywhere?"

"It’s your own fault that you cheated and had a bastard, you know. You got your engagement canceled over your own actions, so what gave you the face to come here and ruin the mood? Shameless."

“......”

Cecilia raised an eyebrow and looked at Sophie. "Didn’t you invite me here? What’re you up to now?"

Sophie’s face flushed with embarrassment.

Cecilia didn’t want to waste time with her anymore. "Tell me, where’s my child?"

Sophie coldly chuckled and then whispered triumphantly in Cecilia’s ear.

"Cecilia, I’ll only tell you after you watch my performance with Samuel."

Cecilia understood. Today, she had been pulled into Sophie and Samuel’s play. These two were going to humiliate her in some way.

She could just leave like usual, but she still had no good clues from the detective. She wouldn’t give up as long as she had some hope.

She shrugged and turned to sit in a corner.

"Whatever."

Sophie hated Cecilia’s confident demeanor the most. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.

"Cecilia, you can only blame yourself for being a mute. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have lost your engagement."

Cecilia was sharp, and she sensed something deeper in Sophie’s words. Her eyes glinted as she said, "What do you mean by that?"

She had aphasia before because she was depressed from her mother’s passing.

’By what Sophie said, is she implying...’

Seeing the change in Cecilia’s expression, Sophie smiled triumphantly.

"We’re both daughters of the Morrisons, so why should I be labelled the mistress’s daughter? If it weren’t for my mother’s tactics, we wouldn’t even be able to show our faces now. If you have to blame someone, blame your deceased mother’s incompetence. She conceived a useless child like you, who turned mute after a bit of trauma. I’m the only one worthy of being the Morrison family’s real daughter!”

"So what if you got your voice back? Samuel still broke things off with you because I’m more worthy of the Kingsleys!"

There was a flash of anger in Cecilia’s eyes.

She had some suspicions about her mother’s death before. Now, listening to Sophie, it seemed like she and Mariah actually did something!

Cecilia wanted to ask further, but all the lights suddenly went out.

A melodious violin started playing out of the blue.

The hall doors swung open, and all the spotlights shone on Samuel. He was wearing a blue suit as he slowly walked over.

The crowd erupted.

"Young Master Kingsley is so romantic! Is he proposing today?"

"He’s so thoughtful. He must’ve felt bad about the ruined ceremony last time, so he’s making it up now to Sophie."

The atmosphere around the scene was heating up in an instant.

Sophie looked at Cecilia provocatively before she pushed past the crowd to stand in front of Samuel.

Samuel smiled before he held up a finger, gesturing for everyone to be quiet and instantly silencing the hall.

He pulled out a bouquet consisting of 999 roses from behind, clearing his throat.

Sophie’s heart was pounding in her throat as she saw the love in his eyes.

’He’s in love with me!

I don’t need any schemes; he already loves me.

I’ll just announce my pregnancy later and make it a double surprise!’

Meanwhile, Samuel slowly began his speech.

"Today, I want to thank the girl who came and gifted me so much happiness and joy in my life. Moreover, she’s even going to give me a perfect little family. I want her to know my love for her."

"Woo! Samuel! Samuel!" The crowd cheered again, their excitement peaking.

Sophie covered her mouth, her eyes filled with surprise.

She turned excitedly to Cecilia and taunted, "See that? We’re truly in love!"

She was ecstatic.

Samuel stepped slowly towards Sophie and the crowd split apart while they all focused on her.

Sophie straightened her back as she clutched the pregnancy report tightly, waiting for him to arrive.

However, she failed to notice there was another woman in Samuel’s eyes.

A woman who couldn’t be overlooked, even when she was in a corner.

There was only one thought swirling in Samuel’s mind.

’I’ve never failed in getting a woman before. This time, I’ll definitely win her back!’

As Samuel approached closer, Sophie couldn’t help widening her smile.

’After this, should we hug each other tightly and become a happy family of three?’

However, something unexpected happened.

Samuel ignored Sophie and walked straight to Cecilia.

He handed her the rose bouquet. "Cecilia, I love you."
