Chapter 90: Legend of ’Sword God’

"Then meet me at the central gate of the city in an hour; we’re leaving today," Apollo said hastily, outlining his plan to depart as early as possible. With that, he exited the shop and returned to the villa to inform his master about his upcoming job and absence for a few days.

An hour later, he arrived at the central gate and noticed the young grandson of the old guide already waiting there.

"You’re here early."

Apollo smiled, noticing the guy’s anxious demeanour as he glanced around, searching for others accompanying him.

"No one else is coming; it’s just the two of us. So, why don’t we introduce ourselves? I’d like to know your name or what I can call you."

Upon hearing Apollo’s calm voice and words, the young guide couldn’t help but feel anxious and surprised. How on Earth would just the two of them be able to hunt Earth Bison?

"But how can just the two of us hunt Earth Bison? That’s suicide."

Apollo laughed upon hearing the young guide’s words and replied, "Haha, you’re anxious about this, but don’t worry. First of all, it’s not the two of us; it’s me who will do all the fighting. You just need to lead me through the forest so we don’t get lost."

"Secondly, the fact that I didn’t bring anyone means I have enough strength. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be risking our lives like this."

"So, don’t be anxious. Stay calm and tell me your name." Apollo spoke with a calm and reassuring voice to help him relax.

He did feel better hearing this, but he still felt troubled by it. However, since he had made up his mind, he didn’t go back.

"My name is Reid Solomon, and I’m skilled in tracking and finding various herbs or beasts in the Thousand Mountain Forest."

Apollo nodded and said, "You can call me Apollo. Since everything is set, let’s go."

And with that, both of them moved towards the Thousand Mountain region, an endless jungle filled with countless flora and fauna so vast that hundreds of Earths combined wouldn’t be enough to come close to its diversity.

Apollo looked at Reid, who nodded and started to lead him through the dense forest.

"Follow me."

He followed and glanced back, a mysterious smile spreading across his face as he ventured deeper into the forest following behind Reid.

A few moments later, a dozen guys appeared at the same place, gazing in the direction Apollo and Reid had gone.

"They seem to have gone this way."

"Then let’s follow, but keep your distance from them."

The group quickly followed them into the forest.

Apollo and Reid continued to move through the Thousand Mountain Forest, encountering their first beast along the way.

There were two Steel Porcupines nearby, but they hadn’t noticed Apollo and Reid yet, as there was some distance between them.

"Quick, let’s change direction and find another way around them," Reid suggested, thinking quickly to avoid confronting the Steel Porcupines directly.

The Steel Porcupines were dangerous not only because they were covered in sharp spines harder than dark iron but also because these spines carried a deadly poison.

A single wound inflicted by those spines can kill most warriors below the limit breakers within a minute.

So, not many dare to dare to hunt them, and Reid wanted to go the other way around.

Apollo smiled but didn’t say anything, as it was better to show him his strength.

"No, wait, what are you doing?" Reid asked, but Apollo had already left.

He moved swiftly toward the two steel porcupines, who instantly noticed his approach.

They wasted no time in launching their deadly spines from their bodies, resembling hidden weapons from martial arts movies, which came flying towards him.

Apollo drew his sword and restrained his strength to match that of someone who had opened nine prana circuits.

He wanted to face these opponents without using his monstrous physical powers or life force power but solely relying on swordsmanship. He wanted to defeat stronger and faster opponents using only his swords.

He swiftly made his move, confronting hundreds of thin, poisonous spines resembling needles that came at him with incredible speed.

Apollo swung his sword with unseen delicate control and power, striking multiple times. Though his speed did not seem fast, for some mysterious reason, his sword effortlessly deflected all hundreds of the poisonous spines.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!...

He pierced through the rain of poisonous spines and swiftly reached the two steel porcupines, who couldn’t comprehend how this seemingly fragile human emerged unscathed from their assault.

They quickly burst forth with a ferocious aura, their coats of spikes glowing with a greyish poisonous aura, attempting to block Apollo’s next attack.

But the plain iron sword in Apollo’s hand seemed to tremble, and in the next moment, something shocking happened: instantly, the two steel porcupines, covered in countless spikes harder than iron, were split into two halves.

The coat of spikes that seemed to protect them met an unimaginable force and was instantly split open.

Reid quickly arrived from afar, reaching the scene just as the two steel porcupines split apart, leaving behind their cold corpses.

His mouth hung wide open in disbelief as he witnessed what had just transpired. In a matter of seconds, the young Apollo had slain two deadly steel porcupines.

"This...."

Reid wanted to say something but couldn’t find words. He didn’t expect him to be this strong, and all these talks about hunting Earth Bison weren’t just simple talk. He might really have the strength to hunt them down alone.

Apollo, on the other hand, maintained a calm expression, paying no heed to Reid’s reaction. His focus was on his swordsmanship, striving to perfect it further.

He could sense that something was missing in his swordsmanship, preventing him from fully grasping his own sword aura.

But he was determined to discover it quickly and become a true swordsman by mastering the sword aura.

Initially, he hadn’t held much interest in swords or becoming a swordsman; swords were merely tools for battle or to dispatch foes, not necessities. However, after hearing about the legend of the Sword God from the master’s mouth, his interest grew significantly.

The story appeared more mythical than real. Even in this fantasy world where extraordinary feats are common, ’The Sword God’ from the Divine Era elevated standards to an unimaginable degree.

The Sword God was said to have been born during the Divine Era, a time when humans were much weaker, and the Innate gods were at their peaks.

Humans at that time were very weak and were slaves to the innate gods that were too strong for ordinary humans.

The Sword God was said to have been born to an old farming couple during this perilous era, and he showed nothing extraordinary until fate forced him to stand on his own.

While he was away from the village for a few days to sell crops, his five-year-old sister was forced by the villagers to be sacrificed to appease the gods. If they did not make this sacrifice, their village would be flooded and destroyed by the divine wrath of the gods.

Both of the Sword God’s parents initially refused, but the countless villagers and thugs forcibly overpowered them, beating them to death when they resisted the sacrifice of their daughter.

When the young Sword God returned, he found his parents’ lifeless bodies lying in front of their hut, bloodied and cold.

Upon seeing this, his mind went blank, and he frantically searched the house and nearby areas for his sister, questioning people but receiving no news as they were afraid of the village chief. Dejectedly, he returned to stand before his parents’ bodies, where he remained motionless for three days and nights, neither crying nor showing any emotion—neither joy nor anger. On the fourth day, he finally moved, silently burying their bodies.

On the same day, his only friend in the village, with his body broken and using all his strength, came to find him. This friend was the only one who had tried to stop the others from taking the sword god’s sister, but he too had been severely beaten and had remained in a coma for many days.

He recounted everything that had transpired in the village that day: how the neighbours had stood by, witnessing the Sword God’s parents being beaten to death and his little sister being taken away by the village chief’s people.

Learning all this, the young sword god exploded with rage and killing intent. His eyes became red with hatred for everyone, whether it was the one who forced his parents or the ones who just remained standing, watched everything, and didn’t do anything.

He entered the old hut and retrieved a blade resembling a machete. His friend tried to dissuade him, knowing that not only had the village chief ordered the atrocity, but there were also over a hundred thugs under the chief’s command, making revenge seem impossible.

But he couldn’t bring himself to say anything, seeing the bloody, soul-trembling killing aura radiating from the young Sword God’s eyes.
