Chapter 368: Attention from the Empire
Within moments, a group of elite guards approached. Their armours shimmered with sigils of the five elements — fire, wind, water, earth, and lightning.
As the capital of the Empire of Sacred Elements, the security was tight; every soldier was at least a second-rank limit breaker, and there were even some fourth-rank grandmasters present at the entrance, showing the tight security.
In other places, a fourth-rank grandmaster can be considered a big shot with strong authority, but here they were used to guard the entrance of the city, showing the weight of the best city on the western continent.
Although they didn’t show their power, their aura was still extraordinary, so the strong fourth-rank leader came to them; otherwise, everyone cannot get such reception as tens of thousands of people arrive here every day.
A fourth-rank grandmaster stepped forward with a respectful but wary stance.
"Honoured guests," the grandmaster cupped his fists. "May I know your esteemed names and the purpose of your visit to the Sacred Elements Capital?"
Apollo gave a small nod. "Just travellers. Passing through."
The grandmaster hesitated. Normally, cultivators of unknown origin—especially those with unfathomable strength—would be heavily scrutinised. But something about the calmness in Apollo’s eyes made him instinctively drop any thoughts of obstruction.
This man... isn’t someone I can afford to offend.
He bowed deeply instead. "Of course. You are welcome to enter, honoured guests. But you needed to register your information first in the management office."
Apollo smiled faintly. "Alright, lead the way."
And then they calmly went in without needing to go wait.
The grandmaster personally led Apollo and his guardian through the bustling outer gates, bypassing the long lines of merchants, cultivators, and adventurers waiting their turn for inspection.
Inside the Sacred Elements Capital, the difference was immediately apparent. The city pulsed with life and power.
Grand elemental formations hummed underfoot, woven into the very streets to stabilise the vast energy that flowed through the capital. Towering pagodas, alchemy halls, battle arenas, and merchant districts sprawled in every direction.
The Sacred Elements empire is a bit different from a normal empire, as although it is called an empire, in fact, it was a combination of five sects symbolising the five natural elements of fire, earth, gold, wood and water. Those five represented the five different halls, and they combined ruled this land.
They were quickly led to the management office where, at the centre of the room, a higher officer of the fifth rank saint realm was present. Inside, the atmosphere was strict but orderly, with streams of cultivators, merchants, and envoys waiting to register their presence within the capital. Without wasting time, he asked for their identity.
"State your names, place of origin, and reason for entering the Sacred Elements Capital."
Apollo wasn’t afraid, so he directly said that they were from the eastern continent.
"We are from the Eastern Continent."
The officer’s hand paused mid-stroke. For a heartbeat, the room’s quiet intensified. Though the continents were now connected, the flow of people between them was still relatively new and rare — especially travellers arriving with such unfathomable presence.
Even though the Eastern and Western Continents were the closest geographically, tensions between them had simmered for generations.
Old grudges, territorial conflicts, and competition over resources had left scars that were not easily forgotten. Even before the mysterious restructuring of Rion, those from the Eastern Continent rarely dared to step into the heart of the Western lands without powerful backing.
So when Apollo’s calm declaration echoed in the room, everyone present stiffened, their gazes flickering with surprise and unease.
"You’re from... the Eastern Continent?" The officer repeated slowly, as if trying to confirm he had heard correctly.
Apollo gave a slight nod, his expression indifferent.
The officer quickly composed himself, setting aside his initial shock.
"I see," the officer said, choosing his words carefully. "We will record your names as visitors from the Eastern Continent. However, due to current regulations, new visitors from the East must be reported to higher-ups while moving within the capital. This is merely a formality to ensure mutual understanding and cooperation."
Apollo raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
The officer added hastily, "It is nothing, merely a precaution. Please do not misunderstand."
Apollo’s faint smile didn’t reach his eyes. "Very well."
Relieved that no resistance came, the officer personally processed the registration with the highest priority, as he felt such a confident person wouldn’t be ordinary.
After the formalities, they calmly left the stunned people. While Apollo was strolling within the city, the information about two mysterious warriors from the eastern continent reached the higher officer of the empire.
In a grand chamber, surrounded by elemental projections and guarded by fifth-rank Saints, a middle-aged man wearing the insignia of the gold Hall frowned as he read the swift report delivered by the officer.
"Eastern Continent? Two people, unfathomable strength?" His fingers drummed against the table. "It seems the eastern continent has grown bold... or something bigger is at play."
Another official, this one representing the Fire Hall, scoffed lightly. "Even with the continents connected, few dare step into our core territory so casually."
"They were calm, confident, and left without issue?" A woman from the Water Hall murmured, tapping her jade fan thoughtfully. "Interesting. Perhaps not enemies... but they must be watched."
The highest-ranking officer in the room, a venerable figure from the Earth Hall, finally spoke after a long pause. His voice was steady, carrying the weight of countless years.
"Send shadows to observe them. Do not provoke. Do not interfere. Simply watch. If they are just travellers, fine. If not... we will act."
The command was final.
Apollo didn’t know anything about what happened behind the secret chambers; he was strolling the capital with curiosity, as even if he knew, he wouldn’t care.
They were strolling around and found the restaurant; however, it wasn’t any ordinary restaurant but a mysterious force that appeared a few years ago and has numerous branches all over the region, on almost every continent.
The building stood apart from the others with its elegant black-tiled roof and jade-green walls that shimmered faintly under the sunlight.
