Chapter 143: Mysterious Phenomenon
The aura around the room swelled to a terrifying level, forcing most of the Fletcher Castle’s residents, whether the soldiers or servants, they all had to flee the area, unable to withstand the overwhelming pressure of lightning and thunder.
Boom! Then, with a powerful eruption, the dense lightning domain vanished, leaving behind a calm yet formidable aura.
"Success," Apollo and Old Man Aragon murmured in unison, understanding that Apollo’s master had successfully made his breakthrough.
A sense of pride and relief washed over him, knowing his master had become even stronger.
"Haha, kid, it looks like your master has now become an honoured grandmaster," Old Man Aragon remarked with a smile as the intense aura began to subside. Despite their frequent verbal sparring, the warmth in his voice revealed the deep bond of friendship he shared with Apollo’s master. Old Man Aragon was genuinely happy for his friend’s success.
Apollo smiled, his mood lifted by his master’s successful breakthrough. From the intensity of the aura, it was clear that his master strength was also best among fourth-rank grandmasters.
As the intense aura of lightning and thunder around the castle gradually dispersed, a sense of relief spread among the weak servants and soldiers. They cautiously began to return to their duties as the aura was too much for them.
Grandpa William and Apollo’s father, John, soon appeared outside Master Aaron’s room, their expressions a mix of anticipation and respect. They watched intently as the door slowly creaked open, revealing the figure of Master Aaron, now standing taller and enveloped in a more mysterious and unmistakable aura of power.
Master Aaron’s eyes sparked with small lightning as he looked at Apollo and others standing ahead.
"Congratulations, Master, on breaking through," Apollo quickly bowed and congratulated him.
Grandpa William and his father also joined him. "Congratulations, Lord Aaron."
"Congratulations."
"It’s alright, nothing to congratulate," Master Aaron said, but his words didn’t match his expression, as he had a big smile that he couldn’t control.
"Aaron, stop trying to behave like an honourable person. Your creepy smile already shows your true face," Old Man Aragon laughingly taunted, looking at the overjoyed Master Aaron.
Master Aaron’s smiling face twitched upon hearing this; as always, the old dwarf’s words were aimed at him.
"Hmph, you’re already a century old and still jealous of my talent. Heh, instead of that, you should focus on your own practice. Otherwise, I might just see you die of old age."
Both of them immediately started to quarrel like old tsunderes, and the atmosphere became lively and harmonious as today was a day of celebration. They organised a small party within the Fletcher Manor to honour Master Aaron’s breakthrough.
The evening was filled with delicious food and rare wine brought by Master Aaron himself. Everyone indulged until they were like drunkards, eventually collapsing on the ground, not caring for their noble demeanour or status.
Apollo smiled as he observed all of this; he was the only one who didn’t collapse. It took him quite a bit of effort to bring the old drunkards to their rooms.
Days passed, and everything continued on the right track. The Fletcher family gradually gained full control over their new territory. Their business expanded significantly, and their income increased many times over. They were now at the peak of their prosperity.
But on one such day, when the sun was shining brightly and a calm wind was blowing an unexpected phenomenon occurred that shocked the entire Eastern continent of Essos.
Boom!
In a distant corner of the continent, a mysterious force that came from an unknown origin erupted, suddenly tore open the very fabric of space, and opened a large void. The shock waves were so powerful that everyone across the Eastern continent felt it, no matter where they were.
"What the hell?" The entire continent trembled, and countless people became anxious and afraid.
Apollo, who was discussing swordsmanship with his master, also felt the tremors.
Crack Crack...
"Hmm, what is this?" He murmured in surprise, knowing that earthquakes on this continent rarely happen naturally.
"Did something happen?" Master Aaron echoed, equally surprised. He could sense that these tremors were no ordinary occurrence.
They sensed a powerful and mysterious law permeating the sky as if something monumental was about to change.
Bang! Bang!
In the distant corner of the continent where it all began, the air seemed to ripple with energy. From the void, a colossal tower-like structure began to emerge, towering so high it seemed to pierce the heavens.
Szz Szz Szz...
Crack Crack...
The very layer of space continued to shatter like glass as the gigantic tower fully manifested itself, descending upon the eastern continent.
Boom!
With its arrival, the heavens and earth of the eastern continent suddenly stilled. The tremors ceased, and the sky returned to its usual calm.
Many powerful and ancient beings across the continent noticed this sudden and profound phenomenon. They quickly identified the location of the source and began making their way there.
From tens of thousands of miles away, they could see the sky-kissing tower standing tall, shrouded in a mysterious aura of laws.
Upon seeing this colossal structure, even the most ancient beings, those at the half-god level, were shocked. The tower exuded an unimaginable power, its mysteries so profound that these mighty half-god-level entities felt insignificant in its presence.
"What is this? Where did it come from?"
Countless thoughts swirled in the minds of those ancient beings as they gazed at the colossal tower. The sudden appearance of such a massive and unknown structure left them stunned, each trying to comprehend the implications of its presence and the mysteries it might hold.
The news of the colossal tower’s appearance spread rapidly across the Eastern continent within a day. The sheer scale of the structure was impossible to ignore; it could be seen from hundreds of thousands of miles away, captivating the attention of people everywhere.
Speculation about the tower ran wild. Many initially believed it to be a divine treasure, but this theory was quickly debunked. Although divine treasures could indeed be as big as mountains, the tower was so immense it dwarfed many kingdoms. More importantly, its aura was unlike anything associated with divine treasures, hinting it might be something far more mysterious and profound.
Apollo, his master Aaron, and Old Man Aragon were all taken aback by the news of the colossal tower’s appearance. Even though it was surprising for Apollo, it was Old Man Aragon who was particularly excited. His passion for blacksmithing was reignited by the possibility that the tower might be a lost ancient artifact.
He even dared to boast that if a divine blacksmith could achieve the pinnacle of their craft, creating something as grand as this tower would be within their capabilities.
He was eager to see the giant tower for himself, but the land around it was heavily guarded by the continent’s most formidable powers, and nobody could go close to it. The Empire first expressed their interest in controlling the place, but even they hesitated to confront the ancient and hidden forces that had emerged in response to the tower’s appearance.
At that time, a few ancient and mighty figures from the past thousands of years were gathered in front of the gigantic tower, looking at the marvellous creation with awe. Despite their strength, they could not see much of it.
They even attempted to attack the tower, but despite their combined might, they could not create a single dent. Not even the best blacksmith could identify the material it was made of; everything about it remained a mystery.
"What the hell is this tower? We can’t do anything or understand anything!"
One of the ten figures standing in front of the tower said with annoyance and helplessness. The other nine figures, representing the ten strongest forces on the eastern continent of Essos, remained silent, feeling the same frustration.
They were the most powerful and ancient forces, with histories spanning over hundreds of thousands of years, yet they were utterly helpless. They were certain that this tower was an unimaginably powerful treasure, but despite its presence right before them, they could do nothing about it.
They had never felt this weak or helpless in their thousands of years of life. All of them tried every possible means, but nothing worked.
Just as they were feeling dejected and planning to leave, leaving some guards to watch over the place, they felt a sudden movement from the tower.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Something from above the tower plummeted to the earth like a meteorite.
Boooom!
It exploded right in front of the tower. Despite the explosion being powerful enough to be compared to a nuclear bomb on Earth, the ten figures did not move. The blast, immense and destructive power, did not faze them in the slightest.
"What is it? I didn’t sense any living aura."
"Could it be a puppet? No, it seems a bit different."
The ten figures speculated about what it could be as the dust slowly settled, revealing a figure standing ahead of them.
