Chapter 129: Return
Chapter 129: Return
"The Northern and Southern Continents are quite different from our Eastern and Western Continents," Master Aaron began, his voice echoing slightly in the icy chamber. "First, let’s discuss the Southern Continent. Although it boasts a mighty human empire, it’s not dominated by humans alone. There are quite a few forces of similar strength vying for control."
"The strongest force on the Southern Continent is undoubtedly the great Elf Empire," he continued. "Their influence and power are unmatched, even among the various formidable factions. The Elves, with their ancient wisdom and unparalleled command over nature and magic, have maintained their dominance for centuries."
Old Man Aragon, who had been quietly listening, nodded in agreement. "The Elf Empire’s territory is vast, stretching across lush forests and enchanted lands. Their society is highly advanced, with a deep respect for the natural world. The Elves’ mastery of magic is second to none, and their warriors are renowned for their agility and precision."
"Because of the Elves’ strength, the Southern Continent is also known as Elyria, named after the legendary Elf Queen Elyria, who was said to be the strongest of her kind."
Apollo listened intently, absorbing the information. He had heard stories of the Elf Empire, but hearing them from his masters gave him a new perspective.
"As for the Northern Continent," Master Aaron continued, "it’s a land of extremes. Harsh winters and treacherous landscapes make it a difficult place to live."
"It is the most chaotic continent, filled with both snakes and dragons in the same place. The human settlements there are small and scattered, constantly battling the elements and the wild creatures that roam the land."
"On the Northern Continent, you’ll encounter races that are difficult to find on the other three continents or even believed to be extinct elsewhere. Whether it’s Beast tribes, spiritual beings, or rare species like werewolves, vampires, and other dark and blood races, they all can be found in the Northern Continent," Master Aaron explained, his voice tinged with intrigue.
"It is the true land of the most weird and mysterious creatures, and it is believed to house the strongest beings on this planet."
"While other continents have Divine Beasts, the strongest ones are said to reside here. The Thousand Mountain Divine Beasts are connected to this region."
"And because of the chaos, it is often called the Continent of Chaos," he concluded, his words hanging heavily in the air.
Old Man Aragon nodded in agreement. "The Northern Continent’s environment shapes its inhabitants into formidable beings. The survival of the fittest is the law of the land, and only the strongest can thrive in such a harsh place."
"Hmm," he nodded, realizing that the Thousand Mountain Forest on their eastern continent wasn’t weak and had its support. "But that’s four continents. What about the fifth continent, Master?" he asked.
Master Aaron smiled, a hint of mystery in his eyes. "The fifth continent, known as the Nekros Continent, the Continent of Desolation, or the Continent of Death, is a place of legends. It is the oldest and largest continent since the beginning of creation and is considered the center of Rion."
"It is said to be the cradle of all life and the origin of the most ancient and powerful beings. Unlike the other continents, it’s not easily accessible and is surrounded by treacherous seas and magical barriers. Many believe that those who manage to reach it never return, or if they do, they are profoundly changed."
He paused, letting the weight of his words settle. "It’s a place of myth and mystery, where the greatest secrets of our world are said to reside. Some even say it’s the place of rest for the fallen gods themselves."
"But what the truth is, nobody knows, except a few lucky ones and the gods themselves."
"Oh, the Continent of Nekros," Apollo murmured, his interest piqued. The tales of this enigmatic land, shrouded in secrets and mysteries, intrigued him deeply. However, he knew that to uncover its hidden truths, he would need to become much stronger.
Master Aaron nodded, recognizing the spark of determination in Apollo’s eyes.
"But anyway, you don’t need to worry too much about it," Master Aaron continued. "Humans are still the strongest beings on Rion, and even Divine Beasts are cautious not to provoke us. This situation is more about politics than actual power struggles. Sending Prince Michael here was likely part of this political maneuver. The search for the Divine Artifact, the Book of Death, was just an excuse."
Apollo nodded, understanding the underlying political currents at play. "So, it’s more about maintaining balance and control among the powerful factions," he said, thinking aloud.
"Exactly," Master Aaron confirmed.
Old Man Aragon, who had been listening quietly, added, "And you, Apollo, have become a significant player in this game of influence and power. Your strength and potential have drawn the attention of many powerful forces. Be cautious and aware of the alliances and rivalries that surround you."
"I understand," Apollo said, his voice steady. "I’ll stay vigilant and continue to grow stronger.
"Oh, and by the way, we are going to return to the Kingdom in a week. Staying here isn’t much help to you now since you cannot enter the Thousand Mountain range, and remaining low-key for some time is also good for you," Master Aaron said.
"Yes, Master," Apollo nodded. Although he was returning earlier than expected, his gains were many times better than he had hoped for, and he also missed his family.
The discussion in City Hall continued for a few hours, and finally, they seemed to have made some deal. An hour later, the Beast King and his entourage left the city without causing any trouble.
The city gradually returned to peace. Slowly, everything went back to normal, with the only surprising event being the mysterious disappearance of James, who silently vanished under the eyes of many.
As the crowds and warriors who had flocked to the city for the competition and the allure of the Book of Death began to leave, Hunter City started to feel like itself again. The powerful forces that had arrived, hoping to find the elusive artifact, departed empty-handed, leaving behind an air of disappointment.
Six days after the conclusion of the competition, Prince Michael and the soldiers from the Sacred Light Empire quietly left the city. Their departure marked the final exodus of the foreign powers that had descended upon Hunter City, restoring its tranquillity. The streets once filled with excitement and anticipation, now carried the calm of everyday life.
Within the now-serene city, Apollo remained focused on his training. The villa, still covered in ice, became his sanctuary as he delved deeper into his understanding of the Eternal Ice Sword Aura. Master Aaron and Old Man Aragon supported him, ensuring he had the solitude and resources he needed to further his cultivation.
But after a day or two of final preparations and farewells, Apollo and his group also silently left Hunter City, their departure marked by the quiet resolve of seasoned travellers. The journey back to the Kingdom of Rrioweth was long, taking an entire week as they traversed diverse landscapes, from rugged mountains to serene valleys, each step bringing them closer to home.
As they neared the borders of Rrioweth, a sense of familiarity and comfort began to settle over the group. The lush forests and rolling hills of their homeland were a welcome sight, and the tension of the past few weeks started to ease.
Upon entering the kingdom’s territory, they were greeted by the sight of familiar faces and landmarks, signalling that they were truly back.
Their journey continued toward the capital, a bustling city that stood as the heart of Rrioweth. The capital was a stark contrast to the wild landscapes they had just traversed and was many times bigger than Hunter City. Towering spires and grand buildings dominated the skyline, and the streets were alive with the activities of daily life.
As they entered the city, word of their return spread quickly. Everyone was eager to see Apollo, the young genius who had suddenly appeared and shocked the world. He had gone toe-to-toe with the best talents from the Empire and other ancient forces, a feat that seemed almost impossible for someone from such a humble background.
What surprised them even more was that he came from a small baron family within their kingdom.
Apollo went to the place owned by Master Aaron’s family. Ninth Prince Leon and the others also returned to their respective homes after exchanging farewells.
Late at night, a royal servant arrived with a message: the King wanted to meet Apollo personally. Aware of the significance, Master Aaron, understanding the importance, decided to accompany him, providing both support and guidance.
Apollo felt a mix of anticipation and curiosity as he prepared to visit the royal castle. The invitation from King was an honour, but it also hinted at the importance of their meeting.
The night was calm and quiet, the stars shining brightly overhead as Apollo and Master Aaron made their way through the serene streets of the capital. The royal servant led them at a steady pace, his Runic lantern casting a warm glow that guided their path.
Upon reaching the grand entrance of the royal castle, they were greeted by the imposing structure, its tall spires, and the intricate carvings illuminated by the moonlight. Guards stood at attention, their expressions respectful yet vigilant, as they recognized the esteemed guests.
