Chapter 128: World Rion
The barrier shattered, and many people were injured by the shockwaves that travelled far, shaking the whole of Hunter City. Silence fell over the arena as the dust covering the entire place slowly settled, revealing the battlefield once more.
Eyes strained to see through the haze, anticipation hanging thick in the air. Who would emerge victorious from such a devastating clash? The tension was palpable, with every spectator holding their breath, waiting for the outcome to unfold.
Slowly, the figures of Prince Michael and James emerged from the dissipating dust. Both warriors stood, battered and bruised, their clothes torn and their faces marked with the strain of the battle. The remnants of their final attacks crackled in the air, and the echoes of their clash were still resonating.
Prince Michael, though visibly exhausted, retained his regal composure. His golden aura, though dim, still flickered with the remnants of his divine power.
James, on the other hand, looked like a warrior who had fought through a storm. Blood trickled down his face from a cut on his forehead, and his breathing was laboured. Yet there was a fire in his eyes—an indomitable spirit that refused to be quenched.
"That’s it; it’s a draw," Prince Michael declared, his voice cutting through the charged atmosphere. He looked at James with a knowing expression. "Unless we use our trump cards, the battle is meaningless. A draw is the best outcome."
James, though surprised by Michael’s decision, quickly realized the wisdom behind it. Both of them had pushed themselves to their limits, and to escalate further would only invite unnecessary risk. "Yes, it’s a draw," he agreed, his voice resonating with acceptance.
The crowd, initially stunned by the declaration, soon erupted into applause. The tension that had gripped the arena dissolved into a mix of relief and excitement. The spectators, who had been on the edge of their seats, now cheered for the show of sportsmanship and mutual respect.
The referee quickly stepped into the arena, raising his hand to signal the official end of the match. "This battle concludes as a draw!" he announced, his voice amplified by the arena’s sound system. The confirmation only heightened the crowd’s enthusiasm, with their cheers echoing off the arena walls.
As the excitement of the moment subsided, the spectators began to leave their seats, discussing the unexpected turn of events. The match, though ending in a draw, left a lasting impression on everyone present.
With that, the competition came to an end. James was awarded the coveted Dragon Blood Potion, made from real dragon blood, which could significantly enhance his physique. Along with it, he received middle-grade transcendent armour.
Transcendent weapons are rare, and middle-grade transcendent armour is not any less valuable than a high-grade transcendent weapon. The prize underscored the extraordinary achievement James had accomplished in the competition.
After the battle, the city became quiet, but the news about the competition began to spread across the world, especially the buzz about James. Although Apollo also gained fame, it wasn’t on the same level as James, who was recognized as an extraordinary talent capable of going toe-to-toe with Prince Michael.
The news of Apollo’s achievements eventually reached the Rrioweth Kingdom and even the Fletcher family castle; they were even rewarded with the title of Count, changing from Baron to Count family in a single leap. Master Aaron and Grandpa William had already taken precautions, arranging to falsify Apollo’s age and ensuring the servants and slaves were tightly controlled to keep their mouths shut.
If Apollo’s true age were known, it would cause a shock and bring more trouble to them.
During these two days, countless forces attempted to visit Apollo, but Master Aaron and the others turned them away due to his closed-door training. This didn’t anger the big shots as much as one might think.
The kingdom, while small, was not entirely helpless against powerful forces. These smaller kingdoms had long histories, surviving through the ages by leveraging contacts, means, and hidden powers. Though they might not be strong enough to defeat the ancient forces, they could certainly tear apart a chunk of flesh and inflict significant damage if it came to that.
Most importantly, Apollo was young, and these powers knew they would have many opportunities in the future. They had marked Apollo as a potential genius, someone worth watching and investing in over time.
Two days had passed since the final arena battle, and Apollo was still locked in his room, meditating. When Master Aaron and the Old Man Aragon returned, they were shocked by the state of the villa, which had been transformed into an ice-covered fortress. Reluctantly, they settled into the frozen villa, feeling as if they had returned to the northern wastelands.
The bustling atmosphere of Hunter City was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of the Beast Representative from the Thousand Mountain Forest. The representative leader was a towering figure, a beast king transformed into a half-human form draped in furs and adorned with tribal markings, exuding an aura of raw power and authority.
They had come to verify the sudden beast tide that had occurred, a phenomenon sparked by someone taking control of the beasts.
As the Beast Representative entered the city, residents gathered in curiosity and apprehension. The presence of the representative signalled the seriousness of the situation. The implications of someone controlling the beasts were dire, threatening the delicate balance of power and the safety of Hunter City.
At the city gates, the representative was met by the city officials, including the City lord and several high-ranking guards with Sacred Light Empire members. Their expressions were calm, but with a tinge of concern.
"Welcome to Hunter City," the City Lord said, his voice steady despite the tension.
With that, the group of beasts entered the city, their presence causing a stir among the citizens. The Beast King, accompanied by two of his formidable subordinates, made their way to the discussion hall.
There, they were met by Prince Michael and several other important figures from all over the Eastern Continent Essos. The atmosphere in the hall was tense, with everyone aware of the gravity of the situation and the implications of the recent Beast Tide.
At the same time, Apollo finally emerged from his closed-door training. He found Master Aaron, Old Man Aragon, and the Fist King sitting in the frozen hall, engaged in conversation, seemingly unconcerned about the icy surroundings.
"Master, what are you all talking about? Did something happen?" Apollo asked as he entered the room.
"Oh, kid, you’re finally out," Master Aaron replied. "We were just discussing the beasts that came from the Thousand Mountain Forest."
"Now, will they take advantage of the situation where someone controlled their beasts and attacked, putting the blame on humans? They might use this to demand something from us or threaten war otherwise," added Old Man Aragon.
"Hmm," Apollo mused, "are the beasts in the Thousand Mountain Forest that strong? Can they fight against the Sacred Light Empire and a combination of so many kingdoms and ancient forces?"
Master Aaron nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, they are formidable. The Thousand Mountain Forest is home to countless powerful beasts, some of which possess strength on par with the strongest human warriors. The Divine beasts, the Beast King, and his subordinates are no joke. They have their own hierarchies and power structures, and many of them have unique abilities and strengths."
"And they are also not alone; they have alliances and support."
"Who has alliances with them?" Apollo asked, surprised. "From what I remember, other species like elves, spirits, or human-beast clans are very few in number, and even if they combined, they wouldn’t offer much help."
"Naturally, they have support, but not from this continent. Kiddo, let me tell you more about our planet, Rion, and broaden your horizons," Master Aaron said, preparing to impart valuable knowledge.
Apollo leaned in, listening carefully, aware that there weren’t many books on this subject in the Fletcher family’s library.
"Rion is a vast and diverse planet, far more complex than you might think," Master Aaron began.
"First, the continent we are on is the Eastern Continent, Essos. Our Eastern Continent, Essos, is just one of five major continents; even then, it had so many kingdoms and ancient forces. Each continent is home to its own unique cultures, races, and power structures.
Master Aaron continued, "To the west of Essos lies the Western Continent, Zarith. It’s a land of ancient civilizations and powerful empires, many of which have long histories of rivalry and cooperation with the Eastern Continent."
"They have a similar situation and strength as us," Master Aaron continued. "Like us, humans also dominate the Southern Continent. The Empire of Sacred Elements is the leading human empire in the Southern Continent, Zarith. They also have had ongoing conflicts with the Sacred Light Empire and the Eastern Continent, especially over the last thousand years."
Apollo’s curiosity was piqued. "What kind of conflicts?" he asked.
"That’s complicated, but that’s not important. Let me first tell you more about Rion’s other continents."
Beyond Zarith are the Northern and Southern continents, each with their own unique inhabitants and mysteries."
