Chapter 102: Human Chimera
Chapter 102: Human Chimera
At the same time, within the city, in a hidden underground hideout, the four gang leaders gathered together. They stood before a dreadful sight: thousands of corpses with their blood drained, creating a small, sinister pond of blood. The air was thick with the stench of death and dark magic.
"Everything is ready," one of the gang leaders, a tall, gaunt man with a scar running down his face, said in a hushed tone. "The ritual can begin."
Another leader, a woman with cold, piercing eyes, nodded. "We’ve waited long enough. No one will stand in our way."
A third leader, short and stocky, added, "The sacrifices have been made. Now, we just need to channel the energy."
The fourth leader, a weak-looking, middle-aged man, nodded as he spoke. "We already drew the dark spell circle before the battle started. It should be about to collect enough death energy."
The other leaders exchanged glances of satisfaction and anticipation. They knew that the spell circle, once fully charged with the death energy from the battlefield, would start their master plan.
The tall, gaunt leader stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with dark intent. "Let’s begin the final phase. Once the spell is activated, the city will fall, and the master will rise to power."
The commander, the blindfolded man, seemed to appear near the secret hideout without anyone noticing him. After learning that the four gangs might be behind the beast tide, he immediately took action. His extraordinary senses detected the dark and bloody aura emanating from the hideout, leading him straight to the location.
With swift, silent steps, he approached the entrance of the hideout. The oppressive energy radiating from within confirmed his suspicions. He could feel the malevolent power surging from the place, its dark influence seeping into the surrounding area.
The blindfolded man moved with an eerie grace, his presence almost ethereal. He entered the hideout that looked like the usual house, his senses attuned to every fluctuation of energy.
As he reached the inner chamber, he saw the four leaders standing around the blood pond and a weird spell circle around it. The pulsating light reflected off their faces, twisted with dark intent.
With a swift motion, he unleashed a wave of powerful, unseen energy that rippled through the chamber.
The gang leaders were thrown off and sent flying, crashing into the walls. They turned in shock to see the blindfolded man standing at the entrance, his presence commanding and formidable.
"Who dares interrupt us?" One of the leaders snarled, his eyes burning with rage.
The blindfolded man remained silent, his aura growing more intense. He raised a hand, and the dark energy in the room seemed to waver as if bowing to his will. The gang leaders attempted to regain control of their bodies and try to move, but the commander’s power was overwhelming.
The gang leaders trembled under the blindfolded commander’s immense power, their desperation palpable. They couldn’t even muster the strength to lift a finger against him. The gap in their abilities was insurmountable, and they knew it.
"Tell me who ordered you to do this and where he is," the commander demanded, his voice cold and commanding. "You are incapable of orchestrating something this large on your own."
The leaders exchanged fearful glances. The pressure was overwhelming, and they knew they couldn’t withstand it for long. One of them, the weak-looking middle-aged man, finally spoke up, his voice shaking.
"We..."
But just as he was about to say something, blood started pouring from his eyes. The flow didn’t stop, and soon it was gushing from his nose and ears as well. His face contorted in horror and agony. He tried to speak, his mouth opening and closing as if he was struggling to get the words out, but his efforts were in vain. Within moments, he collapsed to the ground, dead, before he could reveal anything more.
The blindfolded commander’s expression hardened as he watched the gruesome scene unfold. The remaining gang leaders recoiled in terror, realizing that their fate might be the same.
The commander quickly deduced that they were under a powerful curse or some dark magic, a failsafe placed by the mastermind to prevent them from revealing too much.
He then turned his attention to the remaining three gang leaders. Knowing they might have similar restrictions placed on them, he decided to suppress them and take them to the president of the Hunter Branch. Perhaps, together they could find something more.
With a swift motion, the blindfolded commander bound the three gang leaders with energy restraints. Their expressions were filled with a mixture of fear and resignation, realizing their fates were now out of their control.
The old blindfolded commander was about to send a mental message to the Hunter Guild when the unexpected happened. The three remaining gang leaders suddenly started bleeding from all their orifices, just like the first gang leader.
"What... happened...?"
Before they could say another word, all three died horrifyingly, writhing in pain and agony.
"Damn!" The old, blindfolded commander cursed angrily. But the change didn’t stop there. The blood pond beside them began to boil, and an ominous and bloody aura filled the chamber.
The blood pond bubbled violently, and the countless bodies along with the corpses of the four gang leaders, were pulled by a mysterious force, quickly being swallowed by the churning, crimson liquid. The aura grew more oppressive, filling the air with a sense of dread.
The old, blindfolded commander’s expression became grim. "This isn’t good," he muttered, his eyes narrowing as he watched the macabre scene unfold.
As the last of the corpses disappeared into the blood pond, the surface began to ripple and glow with an eerie, dark light.
From the centre of the pond, a dark figure began to emerge. Its form was shadowy and indistinct at first, but as it rose, it solidified into a tall, menacing entity with crimson eyes that glowed with malevolent intent. The air grew colder, and the oppressive aura became almost unbearable.
It was a towering, twenty-foot-tall humanoid figure with a disfigured face and crimson eyes that burned with a bloodthirsty, murderous intent.
The old commander’s expression hardened as he stared at the menacing entity that seemed to contain the power of thousands. The chamber reverberated with the creature’s roar, an inhuman sound that echoed with ferocious intent.
Roar! Roar! ...
With a burst of energy, the battle began. The chamber shook as the old blindfolded commander unleashed his full power, striking at the dark entity with precision and strength. Invisible and tangible blades manifested in the air around him, slicing through the space and targeting the monstrous foe.
The clash between them created a powerful explosion, instantly destroying the hideout. Debris flew in all directions, and a cloud of dust and smoke enveloped the place.
At that moment, the president of the Hunter Guild’s city branch, the strongest individual present in the city, felt the ominous power as the menacing entity and the old commander collided.
"Something happened. It seems old Spirit Eye found something," he said, his eyes narrowing with concern.
Two other figures stood in the sky beside him, both exuding powerful auras. They were the city lord and the vice president of the Hunter Guild. They had been observing the battlefield, their expressions serious.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go and see what it is," the vice president said, urgency in his voice.
"Hmm, you can go and help old Spirit Eye while we remain here. Somebody needs to watch over the battlefield," the guild president replied, his tone measured and calm.
The vice president nodded, and with lightning speed, he disappeared from the sky, heading towards the destroyed hideout.
Meanwhile, the battlefield below grew increasingly heated. Powerful beasts appeared one after another, their ferocity and strength overwhelming the warriors. Ordinary soldiers struggled, as it often took dozens of them to bring down a single beast soldier.
Apollo, fighting valiantly, noticed the increasing pressure. He glanced at Reid and his grandfather, who were battling nearby. Both were fighting side by side to defeat a bloodthirsty wolf beast, but it was becoming increasingly difficult for them as more powerful beasts started to appear.
As the vice president arrived at the hideout, he was greeted by the sight of devastation. The ground was scorched, and the air was thick with the remnants of dark energy. He quickly located the old commander, Spirit Eye, who was standing amidst the ruins, his expression grim but resolute.
"Spirit Eye, what happened here?" the vice president asked, his voice filled with concern.
The old commander turned to him, his blindfold still in place. "I found this place peculiar and came to check, only to discover the gang leaders with a strange blood pool and countless corpses. The four gang leaders were controlled by a powerful force, and their deaths triggered the appearance of that entity. It was unlike anything I’ve ever encountered."
But suddenly, the ferocious humanoid entity emerged from the ruins, its half-blown-off head and countless holes in its body rapidly healing. Within seconds, it burst forth with an even more terrifying aura.
"What the fu*k is this thing?" The vice president exclaimed, his eyes widening in shock.
