Chapter 96: Angelic Wave vs. Elemental Academy (3)
"Crossfire Sword!" he roared, and his sword was surrounded by a strange, powerful fire that struck backward in two powerful semi-horizontal attacks in the shape of a cross.
These attacks were so powerful that Jenna couldn’t defend herself against them. She was struck fiercely and sent flying in a certain direction.
But a strange smile blossomed on Jenna’s face when this happened, despite the huge wound on her chest.
A smile that made the man who had just struck her realize he had made a mistake.
She soon slammed into one of the tanks, the main one from behind, taking it by surprise. Perhaps fear or the impact itself caused his ability to be deactivated for a moment, allowing Elliot to jump forward and dodge lightning bolts flying toward him.
This allowed him to face one of the tanks, the secondary one, finally.
He met him head-on, his hands ablaze with fierce flames that struck his sword without losing their power or being affected.
’He’s powerful.’ Elliot thought.
Not only was he powerful, but in terms of vitality, he was superior to his strength, and in terms of strength, they were perhaps equal, so his sword was ineffective.
However, he was already beyond the tank’s capabilities, so he could utilize his agility, and that’s exactly what he did.
He jumped to the side when he saw an opening in the guy in front of him and then jumped forward to help Jenna, who, despite being wounded, had engaged in a battle against the Tank and the Swordsman simultaneously.
If he didn’t help her in time, the tank would have time to reactivate his skill, and that would be disastrous.
"Don’t come!" Jenna shouted, but it was too late.
Elliot was startled and looked behind him. The Soul Mage was attacking fiercely right there, even though his partner was in that direction.
’Friendly fire... Right, they can still use that trick,’ he thought, realizing he had made a serious positioning mistake.
’I can still...’ He roared inside and activated his agility to the maximum to jump to the side, but then he felt something heavy hanging on him.
"Escape?! Impossible!" Roared the fire tank.
The fire began to burn his skin, as it was all over his body, causing Elliot’s combat ability to drop dramatically.
Then the lightning struck him hard.
Not just him, but the tank as well. But the tank’s resistance was at least 15 points higher than his. He was affected, but not as much as Elliot.
Due to the pain and numbness from the lightning bolts, the tank released Elliot and kicked him with all his might, sending him crashing into a nearby wall and knocking him unconscious.
Even so, after this, he was unable to continue the fight. He fell to the ground, his arms incredibly sore and numb. "A Master is still a Master." He looked fearfully at his companion.
Meanwhile...
Jenna was finally caught by the Tank’s ability, preventing her from moving freely. Then lightning and sword attacks rained down on her. Although she fought fiercely until the end and took the Swordsman by surprise once again with her magic sword, managing to seriously wound him and knock him out of the fight, at that very moment, the lightning struck her.
Then she couldn’t take it anymore.
She fell to the ground beside the Master Swordsman. Her strength resisted, preventing her from flying backward like the rest, but she was completely knocked out.
She wasn’t unconscious, but she was dazed and had the Tank’s sword at her throat.
The TV above finally announced...
"Elemental Academy wins!"
With that announcement, the tank finally let out a sigh of relief, but his other companion, the Soul Mage, fell to the ground, panting heavily and his hands shaking.
"Shit... damn bastards... How can they be so tough?" His body roared. Even though he was powerful, he didn’t have infinite mental strength. After casting so many spells, he was completely drained of mental strength. His head ached, causing his body to tremble.
It was the first time this had happened to him in as long as he could remember.
Looking up, he couldn’t believe they had been beaten so severely by just a small team.
They only had one Master, and they had three!
But his entire team was in a sorry state.
The assassin clearly had no vitality, and after failing his surprise attack or that first decisive strike, he was naturally destined to end up in that state.
The secondary tank was also nothing to write home about; he had taken most of the brunt of his attack. His condition was to be expected.
But what about the Control Mage? And the two Swordsmen?
He was angry with his team and couldn’t help but want to yell at them for being so foolish.
But he was forced to swallow his words, so he clenched his teeth fiercely and took out some potions to drink. He needed to recover.
The main tank brought potions to all his unconscious teammates or those who were barely conscious.
Due to the intensity of the battle, no one in the audience said anything until about three minutes later, when the leaders of each guild finally came to collect their members.
"Shit..."
"What did I just see? That was a first-class battle!"
"My God... Even though Angelic Wave was at a huge disadvantage, look at the state of the Academy."
"This time, the Academy couldn’t use their coordinated combat tactics. Maybe that’s why?"
Amidst murmurs and nonsense, no one in the stands could calm down.
But the leaders of the other guilds were in shock.
"It wasn’t that the Elemental Academy didn’t use their coordinated tactics... It was Elliot, Jenna, and Andrew’s job to prevent them from doing so. Right, Master Cat?"
The man who was asked nodded slightly, but it took him a while to respond.
"...They weren’t trained for that. I think what they did was pure improvisation, as there was no real coordination to do it..." he replied. Although the fight in the arena was almost at his level, so he couldn’t say too much.
The rest of the Masters were in a similar situation.
This caused many people to wonder what would happen if their teams faced that Angelic Wave.
Would they win? Would they lose?
The only ones who remained confident were the Clarks.
Even Broken Leaf had to be intimidated by this display of abilities.
In their eyes, the Elemental Academy had won, but at what cost?
