Game World's Awakening
Chapter 77: Invitation

Chapter 77: Invitation

Elliot turned his gaze toward the person calling him and frowned.

’Have I seen him before?’ he thought, feeling like he remembered him. But his memory couldn’t seem to connect the dots.

Moreover, he found the man’s illuminated face extremely strange, as if he had seen an angel or some kind of higher being when he gazed at him.

So he asked carefully, "What’s going on? May I ask who you are?" His voice sounded cautious.

Joferth smiled even more and quickly approached him, as if afraid that this person he had been searching for so long would suddenly disappear as he had once before.

He quickly took out a business card.

"Excuse my earlier outburst, Young Master Elliot. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Joferth Guilwing. You may remember me as the man who was being attacked by rats a few weeks ago, whom you saved." He was so excited that he forgot to give him the card.

"I see, so you were that person." He looked him up and down and smiled. "I’m glad you’re okay. Have you come to thank me? You don’t need to worry about that. I did it because I was passing by. It’s something any other Awakened would have done."

Joferth quickly smiled. "Yes, I’m here to thank you. I’ve been looking for you for the last two weeks, so I won’t feel at ease until I can thank you properly. It may just be a wave of the hand for you Awakened ones, but for us normal people, it’s a lifetime."

Elliot nodded. ’He’s right.’

When you’re a normal person, getting hit by a beast can wipe you out or put you in a coma, at best. And nothing will bring you back, not even the most skilled healing wizards.

But Elliot still wanted to excuse himself. "It’s okay, Mr. Joferth. Anyway, I didn’t do it for anything in return. If you still want to thank me, maybe we can work something out for later. My friend is at a critical point in her recovery, and I need to help her with a few things." He said, pointing to Jenna beside him.

Then he spoke again. "We’ve had a difficult few weeks and haven’t been able to rest properly either, so we need to rest. So, if you want to thank me, then you can come tomorrow, and I’ll see you." He tried to excuse himself as politely as possible because, honestly, he could no longer bear the exhaustion in his body, or rather, in his mind.

He wanted to help Jenna get through this and finally reach Master Rank, so he could get some rest. These last few days of stress weren’t good for his mind.

So he didn’t wait for Joferth’s response and tried to enter, just to show him he was serious.

But Joferth quickly spoke, afraid he would disappear again.

"Young Master Elliot, my way of thanking you is not like anyone else’s. I heard that you’ve been wanting to participate in the Tournament of Stars."

Elliot suddenly stopped and looked at him. "That’s right. We’re both trying to do that. Why?"

Joferth finally smiled. "I can help you with that."

"Are you from a guild?"

"I am."

Elliot stared at him for a moment, took a deep breath, and then looked back.

Joferth then introduced himself again, this time handing him the card.

"Joferth Guilwing, Talent Scout Manager of the Angelic Wave Guild."

Finally, Elliot’s attention was focused entirely on this man.

’Angelic Wave? A Talent Scout from that guild... It’s rare to see one,’ he thought, reading the information on the business card he had been given.

"I originally thought that Angelic Wave Talent Scouts didn’t exist, because of their unique recruitment methods."

"Haha, Young Master, it’s true that we have unique ways of recruiting. One of them is approaching people when we discover talents that everyone else seems to ignore. We don’t usually like young masters from wealthy families because they are arrogant and annoying, and they are not loyal to the guild, so we tend to have a different way of recruiting than the rest."

Elliot nodded. "And to pass the entrance exams, you have to meet many requirements and pass other tests... But since you’re from there and you’ve come looking for me, does the Angelic Wave Guild intend to invite me?"

"Yes, Young Master Elliot." Joferth was sincere and finally able to say what he wanted. "The Angelic Wave Guild extends its invitation to you, as it is the Guild Master himself who wants you. The Master wishes to discuss business with you, which is why he sent me personally to give you this, to invite you to the guild." He handed him a small invitation letter sealed by the Angelic Wave Guild Master.

’Incredible.’ Elliot’s eyes sparkled. ’This is an opportunity I can’t miss.’ He smiled, but before answering, he looked at Jenna for a moment.

"Mr. Joferth, it’s fine, I’ll go to the guild after I’ve rested, but my friend also wants to join a guild. We both want to participate in the Tournament. Is there any way you could extend the invitation to her as well?"

Joferth finally looked at Jenna. "This..." He found it a little tricky, but seeing that Elliot was finally standing in front of him, he couldn’t let it go.

’Surely the Master will understand,’ he thought, and his mind worked quickly to come up with a response.

"Young Master Elliot, if the young lady is an awakened one, then we can make an exception for her to use it. Keep in mind that you are already an exception, making one more is complicated, but I will discuss it with the Guild Master. However, there could be a problem with both of you participating in the Tournament. I have reserved a spot for you, but she... will have to fight for it if she wants it. It’s complicated to reserve one more. You know, the contracts are already signed with our members."

Joferth was honest and respectful, trying not to offend Elliot.

Elliot smiled when he heard this. "Haha, if it’s just fighting, then that’s fine."

Then he looked at Jenna. "It looks like everything is ready."

Jenna finally smiled. "Don’t fall behind, Elliot. If you’re not going for first place, I will."

"Hahaha, we’ll see about that."

They both joked around a little.

’Phew.’ Joferth was grateful that they both took it that way.

"How about I pick you up here tomorrow afternoon? There will be training with our members in the evening, so it’s a great opportunity for you to meet them and challenge them. Plus, since everyone will be there, we can give you a better welcome."

Elliot nodded. "Okay, tomorrow after 4 p.m. will be fine."

"Good, haha. I hope that’s something worthy of saving me. I’ll try to get you both some good contracts."

"That’s enough, Mr. Joferth."

"Then I’ll take my leave. See you tomorrow."

With that, Joferth turned around, looking radiant, and left.

Elliot and Jenna entered the apartment shortly after.
