Chapter 72: A fantastic strategy
They were on his arms, legs, feet, back, shoulders, chest, and a helmet with pointed weapons also materialized on his head. There was no way he could dodge it.
Elliot knew he was coming after him, so he even raised his legs on tiptoes to catch him off guard, even for a moment, and prevent his great speed and reaction time from avoiding such an attack.
If the Nurotaur wanted to touch him, he had to calculate between openings of less than 90 millimeters that remained after the weapons had been strangely welded into the suit.
But Elliot had greatly overestimated his own speed.
The Nurotaur avoided touching these sharp weapons at a ridiculous speed and touched exactly where he needed to, with the tip of his little fingernail.
His speed dispersed the poison, allowing Jenna and the griffin to see him.
"You almost got me," said the Nurotaur, surprised by his clever strategy.
Elliot looked at him for a few seconds and smiled softly. "No, I did get you." He replied slyly.
The Nurotaur was puzzled. "What do you mean?" he asked.
Elliot looked down at his body without turning or moving.
The Nurotaur followed his gaze and then saw a weapon sticking out of Elliot’s shoe. It came out when Elliot stood on tiptoe, and now it was touching the Nurotaur’s bull’s legs.
Surprise radiated from his eyes. ’That good?’
His mind was stunned for a brief moment. He didn’t think he’d fall for such a simple trick at the hands of a human.
"Did you see that coming?" he asked, looking at him and pulling his hand away from where he had been touching Elliot.
He could only see Elliot smile softly and wonder why. But then he felt something on his finger that had touched Elliot, so he turned to look at it.
"A needle?"
Elliot smiled instantly.
"I didn’t see it coming, but you were bound to lose when you decided to touch Jenna before me." He replied, immediately removing the top part of his assassin’s clothes and throwing them on the floor.
At that moment, the Nurotaur could see a large number of small needles embedded in Elliot’s flesh.
They had previously been pressed down by the suit and by the fact that his movements did not stretch his skin evenly, allowing the needles to be fully embedded there without any problem, obviously causing him severe pain.
Furthermore, thanks to the suit having pointed weapons strangely sewn from the inside out, they prevented even the Nurotaur from feeling them when he touched them.
But the moment Elliot stood on tiptoe, stretched all his skin, and gently shrugged his shoulders to bring out the pointed weapons (resembling small pyramids), the needles on his back could finally be released a little and lie flush with his clothing.
This allowed the Nurotaur to touch only one of these needles and push it into Elliot’s body, but there were so many of them that, despite his long fingernail, one of them pierced his finger.
Elliot smiled softly. "Actually, this is the second time you’ve touched me. Before, you just touched and pushed the needles in." He said and pushed once more to allow all the needles to come out of his flesh.
There were hundreds of needles, even thousands.
That’s why Jenna quickly came to his side and gave him several potions: "Take this quickly," she said. Seeing him with so many wounds all over his body didn’t feel right to her.
The Nurotaur looked at them in shock. All he could understand, and Elliot’s explanation was enough to leave him in a state of shock for several seconds.
Not to mention the Griffin, he didn’t even move, because he was still trying to understand how on earth humans had won.
The problem was that he tried to refute it but couldn’t!
It sounded logical!
That human had chosen to hurt himself to win!
What’s worse, did he win by a landslide?
Clearly, the Griffin was having trouble understanding.
Meanwhile, the Nurotaur looked at Elliot.
"When you shouted ’South,’ was that because you used that mirror-shaped weapon you have to see it coming?" he asked.
Elliot shook his head. "No. I didn’t expect you to be there; it was just a shout to warn Jenna and alert you. Besides, it didn’t matter, because I used the mirror a second later, and that told me where you were." Elliot didn’t hide it because he could see that the Nurotauro was genuinely interested.
Also, because he couldn’t hide it from him.
"What would have happened if I had chosen to touch you first and hadn’t touched an area with needles, like your head?" asked the Nurotaur.
"Haha, it would have all depended on Jenna, then."
The Nurotaur looked at the girl next to him. "Do you have needles in your body too?"
"No." She shook her head. "But I would have done my best to complete my mission."
The Nurotaur realized that she had no intention of telling him her strategy, so he was forced to sigh with a helpless smile.
"It seems I’ve lost to a human, again." He said with a laugh, finally acknowledging his defeat. He immediately removed the restraints and everything else.
Then he summoned the healing item from before and threw it at both of them so they could heal themselves, in case they had any wounds.
"Congratulations, you have passed the Final Test of the Weapon Sarcophagus of Soac, the Fifth." He said, congratulating them.
At his words, the griffin seemed to act strangely, but said nothing.
Soac then continued. "You surprised me and created a strategy I didn’t think existed. After a long time, I lost to the cunning and goodwill of a human who only wants to survive, so I admire you. You are just as worthy as that Great Man."
"Your request was this griffin, correct?"
Elliot and Jenna looked at each other, smiled, and nodded, "Yes, Lord. That is our request. We don’t need anything else."
"Good," he said, looking at the griffin. "It seems you will have a different fate than you expected." Immediately, several powerful chains came out of the surroundings and tied him up.
The griffin began to scream, but Soac ignored him.
