Chapter 41: Situation too dangerous

Anyone below Master Rank feared the venom of a yellow snake, but most Awakened with Elliot’s stats wouldn’t have much trouble enduring it for a certain period.

Although this venom doesn’t work as well on Awakened as it does on others, it is possible to increase its effects. The venom attacks blood cells, especially red blood cells, and it has been shown that it can travel through white blood cells to spread faster.

This is why it can kill so quickly.

So, what would happen if the density of the poison were increased? At higher densities, its speed remains the same, but its effect is amplified to the point that it can immobilize the Awakened and, given enough time, kill them.

That’s why Elliot’s movement was so slow. He had so much poison concentrated in his arm that, even though his power prevented the poison from moving quickly, it could still immobilize him.

The situation, which was already desperate, suddenly reached a new turning point, where, given enough time, he would die.

That’s why he gritted his teeth as hard as he could and moved all his power into that arm, pushing its speed to his current limit. Due to his momentary happiness, the man using stealth was a little slow to act, but he managed to bring his dagger up to his neck to avoid a fatal blow.

But Elliot’s attack had been correctly calculated. He struck hard at that unprotected hand and cut it, causing the poisoned dagger to fall to the ground.

The stealthy assassin endured the pain and leaped backward, knowing he wasn’t the only one who wanted him dead. Soon, a wave of magical attacks rained on Elliot in continuous explosions.

"Agh..."

The pain in his right arm was so terrifying that he couldn’t defend himself against those attacks. He immediately prepared to summon his rat and goblin, trying to catch those bastards off guard to kill as many as he could in one attack with all his current strength, but Jenna stood before him to stop several of them.

"Don’t move!" she shouted.

Suddenly, a dark aura enveloped her body with ferocity, then began to shrink rapidly and transform into a dark sword.

Her power seemed to increase suddenly as she struck the fighters and tanks coming toward her with absurd mastery that she shouldn’t have had, managing to kill several of them in one breath.

Her attack was so powerful, and her mastery of attacks was so astonishing that it shocked everyone. The spells seemed to split before her sword.

Because of this, dust rose everywhere as fire and lightning spells fell to the ground and shattered rocks.

Jenna used the huge curtain of smoke that had risen to grab Elliot by the waist, lift him onto her shoulder, and move away quickly.

"Imaginers!" With several shouts, some special mages activated their divination magic and their eyes glowed, allowing them to see the figures that were beginning to move away.

"He’s trying to escape, quick, fire magics!" they shouted.

Then...

"Fireball!"

"Chaotic Flame!"

"Chaotic Grove!"

Suddenly, many fire spells were cast and launched at Jenna, who was hit by a giant fireball and a chaotic flame.

Although she managed to split the fireball in half, the next attack hit her squarely in the stomach and sent her flying until she crashed fiercely into a huge tree, which was torn to shreds.

"Shit." She panicked when she realized Elliot wasn’t in her grip. ’Did he fall?’ When she looked up to search for him, she noticed a much larger spell coming toward her, slow but astonishingly powerful.

The Chaotic Grove.

A spell famous worldwide among Soul Mages. It was created by a Soul Mage long ago. It doesn’t have a fast cast time, so few people use it in combat like this, but it has astonishing power and is extremely large, making it very good for situations like these.

The moment he cast it, the caster fell to the ground, vomiting blood and completely weakened. It wasn’t a spell used very often for this reason.

But that spell was now in front of them.

Jenna didn’t think about moving, even though her mind was screaming at her to do so. That’s because someone was standing in front of her.

Elliot didn’t hesitate to bring one of his summons forward and place it directly in front of him; the powerful attack suddenly brutally rammed the tank, but Elliot managed to stop it before it exploded. As it did, the magic also exploded.

Right next to Elliot, one of the fighters had managed to get close enough to prevent them from escaping. Even though he was running alongside them, when the magic exploded without warning, he was hit by the impact and lost control of his body, flying straight towards Elliot.

Elliot could no longer move his right arm, and part of his body seemed to be starting to freeze up, but at that moment, he found a new use for his summonings.

When that powerful magic blew up his tank, all the energy from the tank returned to him like a torrent of additional stats, bringing with it a power he shouldn’t have had at that moment, which restored his strength on his left side.

So he summoned his sword to his left hand and his rat a little further forward.

"GET IT!" he shouted, throwing his sword toward the rat.

Although it wasn’t intelligent and had large claws that could prevent it from being versatile with the sword, the rat did exactly what Elliot wanted and also acted on instinct. When the uncontrolled attacker was close enough, it moved the sword horizontally to cut off his head in a single strike.

After that, the explosion hit the rat, and at the last moment, Elliot summoned it into himself along with his sword.

Even so, the impact of the magic was enough to knock him backwards, and he rolled across the ground.

"Shit..." He looked up. In shock, he saw that the explosion had only just begun. "I couldn’t stop the explosion."

His mind buzzed with danger as he realized that he was about to be brutally engulfed by that dangerous explosion.

He hadn’t expected that magic to be so powerful.

’Am I really going to die at the hands of these damn bastards?’ He suddenly bit his tongue and raised his hand again, trying to regain strength.

Despite lying on the ground, he summoned his sword again and tried to be as accurate as possible.

He wanted to summon the rat one more time. He wanted to make one last attempt, with all his strength. Perhaps if he managed to avoid being swallowed by this magic, he could find a way to save himself from the yellow snake’s venom.

But suddenly he felt the heat.

"That’s enough. That was great." Jenna smiled and grabbed him again. She put the sword back in her inventory and turned to run away with him on her shoulders.

The explosion came a second later and swallowed everything in its path.
