Chapter 102: Angelic Wave vs Clark Group (2)

Chapter 102: Angelic Wave vs Clark Group (2)

In the VIP room of the Elemental Academy, Master Roy sat next to Thomas, watching the battle that would soon unfold before them.

No one else was in the room, as they were discussing important matters.

Master Roy glanced sideways at Thomas, who looked slightly pensive as he watched Elliot in the arena.

"Are you worried about killing the son of a Saint?" he asked.

Thomas finally snapped out of his daze and looked at him.

"Master, you must know the dangers of killing the son of a Saint who is presumed to be still alive," he said.

Master Roy nodded slightly, returning to where Elliot was standing.

"When a person reaches the rank of Saint, part of their soul becomes bound to that of their loved ones, allowing them always to know whether they are alive or dead. If they die, they will be alerted and will know exactly who killed them. And a saint can live for a very long time. Their revenge is also unpredictable. Who can predict a Saint?" Master Roy, though he didn’t show it, was also concerned about this.

After all, a saint is a saint—the second highest rank within the known Rank Scale. Only the Gods are above them, but they are so illusory and rare that there are only a couple on the entire continent, at most.

Therefore, the Saints here are like Gods capable of altering even the movement of the wind, the falling of rain, and even the position of mountains.

No one wants to face a Saint.

"That’s what I mean, Master. We are not equipped to defend ourselves against an attack from such a powerful being. Killing this guy could spell destruction for whoever does it."

Master Roy smiled.

"That’s why we’ve left it to the Clarks. It’s been a long time since we last acted on our own, so don’t worry, they can’t track us."

"Are you sure?"

"Well, I don’t think you need to worry. That guy might be dead anyway. Don’t you remember those two women who were murdered two years ago, from his family? Elliot Clark’s sister, SkyDome’s favorite, and also SkyDome’s wife. Don’t you think he would have come here if he were alive?"

Thomas nodded slowly as he understood this. That made sense, too.

But...

"What if he’s still locked up in that place? If he could get out of there, we’d be..."

"No one has been able to get out of there, little Thomas." Master Roy put his cane on Thomas’s head to keep him quiet.

"Besides, leave worries about things you can’t control to your elders. It does no good for you, our academic hope, to be so pessimistic. Don’t worry, nothing will happen. And we’ll finally be rid of this nuisance."

Thomas took a few seconds to think before nodding. "You’re right, Master. I’ll stop thinking about nonsense."

"Good. Focus on the fight, it’s about to begin. Watch how they kill your little enemy." Master Roy smiled coldly.

--

On the arena.

John smiled coldly when the counter reached zero, and when he was in fighting position, he returned to his upright stance to shout.

"Team Angelic Wave, we, the Clark Group, challenge you to a Battle to the Death!" John roared to the four winds, hoping to surprise Elliot and his companions.

But it was the spectators who were surprised, left in shock by his words.

Meanwhile, Elliot simply smiled slightly when he saw that the System had sent him a message...

[As part of the Angelic Wave team, John Clark from the Clark Group has just challenged you to a Battle to the Death between the two teams.]

[All team members must accept to proceed.]

[Do you accept?]

[Yes] [No]

Elliot looked at Jenna beside him and then at the rest of his teammates to get their approval.

The rules of a Death Match between groups were displayed before them; there weren’t many. This was a battle to the death; it didn’t need many rules.

The completely unsurprised attitude of Elliot and his team made John uneasy. ’What the hell is happening? Did they know about this beforehand? Impossible, only my father, I, and my teammates know about this. How could they betray themselves?’

Despite the confusion, Elliot’s response came too quickly for him even to react.

"We accept," he said, and the System announcement rang out in an instant.

[Death Match active]

| A Death Match has been activated in the Combat Arena managed by the Loen City System.

| Opponents: Clark Group and Angelic Wave.

| If any bets exist, now is the time to place them. If not, the System will proceed to activate the necessary mechanisms within the Combat Arena.

John and Elliot demanded that no bets be made. They didn’t need them; they weren’t here for that nonsense.

Then the System proceeded.

Soon, the Combat Arena was completely sealed shut. No one could leave until the Battle to the Death was over.

And the only way to end a Battle to the Death is...

With the entire opposing team dead.

That’s why Steward didn’t want to allow this before, but if they were challenged like this, he could not refuse.

He clenched his fists tightly in his place, and Joferth, who had arrived a moment ago, looked at him.

"Master..."

"Elliot predicted this."

"He predicted it? Did he prepare for this?"

"Yes. They’re completely prepared. I spent $100 million on their new weapons and armor. Too bad we didn’t have more time..."

"This... Will it work out? That amount of money... Now it will be a little difficult for us to manage the companies. I’m afraid we’ll anger the leaders."

Steward smiled.

"It should work out. If we win this, the bets will pay us more than that amount. I heard that several private sources were betting heavily on the Clark Group, so I took the opportunity to bet anonymously beforehand. I’m afraid that if we win, the Clark Group could be in danger." He smiled maliciously, longing for victory.

"Besides," he continued, "If we win the Tournament, the Master will set his sights on that boy. Our branch will rise with him then, so... we just need to win. That’s why I’m not worried about spending that money."

Joferth nodded. He could understand why he had done it, but... He looked at Steward’s hands, which were clenched into fists and tightly gripped.

"Are you worried they’ll die?"

Steward sighed. "They’re good kids, and they make a good team. Aside from Chris and Rich, whose relationship is clearly very deep and long-standing, that boy and Jenna seem to have feelings for each other, and this has caused Andrew to form a strange relationship with both of them, where he seems to want to protect them like younger siblings. I’m afraid this is the first time five of our members have had such a good relationship in such a short time." He spoke.

"That’s why I don’t want them to die. They’re too talented, and together they could be worthy of participating in the main competitions... We could win."

Joferth nodded, also deep in thought.

He was the one who had brought all those kids into the arena to the Guild. All of them.

That’s why he could understand each of their talents. Maybe Philip and Andy were the least talented, but they were still good and would reach Master Rank in the near future. In fact, they had a high chance of becoming professional players in the future, reaching Lord Rank.

"...I hope they can win." He sighed.

If the two least talented ones could already reach the rank of Professional Player, what about the most talented ones? Not even he could predict that. Neither could Steward.

And Steward was sure that even the main Guild Master couldn’t do it either.

That’s why they were both worried about this battle.

If they could have, they would have wanted to avoid it. But the most talented among them had unfinished business and wanted to resolve it quickly. If he didn’t support him in that, wouldn’t he go to another guild that would give him the support he needed?

With the talent he had shown and still had hidden, he would be coveted even by the great guilds of the continent.

’This is no time to hesitate.’ Steward took a deep breath. ’Please. Carry out your revenge.’ That was his only wish.

Once the System arrangements were made, Elliot finally smiled and stepped forward.

"John Clark, Jeff Clark, Leinan Clark, Anne Clark. Caesar, Anthony, and Malcolm." Elliot suddenly named the seven members of the other team.

They looked at him in confusion. "Have you gone crazy?" John asked, but Elliot simply shrugged.

"I’m just remembering the names of those who will soon be corpses. Don’t pay any attention to me." He said, taking two more steps forward.

This took the Clarks by surprise, and they prepared to attack him.

Being so close to powerful people, how could he be so stupid?

But then Elliot spoke again.

"Welcome to my little game, Clark Group. Today marks the beginning of your downfall, so I hope you enjoy it patiently." He finally smiled coldly.

"It’s time for you to see my true wrath. My true power."

Suddenly, Elliot was surrounded by a dangerous aura that seemed to explode around him with a strange softness.

Then, suddenly, five different bodies appeared on the arena. All of them had weapons ready to attack, strange looks on their faces, and were arranged in a curious formation that caused the surrounding area to fall silent.

That’s when Elliot smiled.

"That desire that awakened me, that desire I’ve carried with me for over two years... today it will finally be somewhat satisfied. Welcome to my game, Clark Group." Elliot raised one of his hands behind him and threw the broken mirror-shaped item at his mage-like summoning.

Then he gave a simple signal.

"It’s time to play."
