Chapter 95: The Most Dangerous Individual In The Trial

"His Highness won’t let you off. You might be stronger, humans, but you can’t defeat His Highness, who possesses the bloodline of the almighty Primordial rank!"

"Primordial Rank?" Griffin gave a mocked smile to the blue werewolf, lying on the ground, panting. His limbs were all severed, and he was the only remaining of his race alive in the battle. "Is that equivalent to Ascended, right? What about it? I have one, too."

The blue werewolf’s eyes widened, shouting at the top of his lungs, "You are lying."

"Shut up." Griffin thrust his rapier, bursting his neck. He then swung his rapier, spraying the mixed colors blood to the grass, painting it, and then indifferently pushed it on his scabbard.

He turned and glanced at Kaiju, and said, "Are you surprised?"

Kaiju, knowing he could deactivate his Emotionless skill, smiled naturally and said, "I’m not alone, they are, too."

He meaningfully glanced at the werewolves’ carcass, causing Griffin to burst into laughter.

Kaiju asked with a grave countenance, "Can you fight against their leader?"

Griffin snorted. "Of course, I can defeat them, too."

"I heard you."

Griffin shrugged.

"Anyway, seeing you taking your time to watch the battle here, it seems everyone is doing fairly well?"

"It should be." Kaiju nodded. He ordered Ember and Zephyr when they arrived to aid the other humans to fight against the other higher races, and perceiving no distress call from them conveyed everything was proceeding normally.

"On the other hand, I still have many questions."

Griffin smiled. "Let Lucy answer you, later. Now that I have killed the werewolves, it would only be a matter of time before their leader would notice it."

"But, it is still enough for us to raid the burg, right?"

"Well, it wouldn’t hurt to welcome them as early as possible."

"Right."

"We’ll continue our discussion back at the camp."

Kaiju nodded and they returned to the camp. Just when they turned back, a massive barrier of light expanded, even enveloping them. Kaiju could feel his attributes elevated just from the light alone, seemingly recognizing them as allies. It might not even conflict with his shadow magic skills if he conjured it.

In addition, he also felt he was protected from any form of attacks that could ignore physical and mana defense, especially curses. He then recalled Faith’s Divine Invocation, where it punished the enemies heavily, while providing support buffs to his allies, causing him to understand the origin of the massive barrier of light.

"This is Faith’s Sanctuary of Light. She might not be strong enough to defeat me, but she is undoubtedly the strongest priest I know."

"Wow, to receive the praise from you, I can tell you are not lying."

Griffin did not say anything.

"This proves that we can fight against the other higher races."

"Not necessarily." Griffin crushed Kaiju’s fighting spirits. "We can just put up a fight. I still wonder how Lucy will proceed with the plan."

"Lucy?" Kaiju’s heart skipped a beat. "She created the plan?"

"Yes." Griffin stared at the back of Kaiju, who suddenly halted his movements. "What’s wrong?"

Kaiju asked, not answering his question, "She planned it all?"

Griffin nodded, seeing Kaiju turning his back and stared at him with an ambiguous expression made him feel something was wrong.

"She was the one who raised the idea of competing with the other higher races and defeating Vladislaus by ourselves."

"And?"

"And kill the higher races who dare to stop us?"

"..."

Kaiju sucked the cold air. He had to activate the Emotionless skill once again to control his emotions and, perhaps, avoid the attention of the Lucy Herforao feared. Is she really that ’Lucy’? Kaiju’s suspicions instantly soared.

"She wants to kill everyone inside the Trial."

Damn it!

"What’s wrong?" Griffin asked. "Have you noticed something about that devil?"

"Devil?" Kaiju turned his back against him and continued walking. He recalled the words of Herforao, narrating how he was terrified of Lucy, forcing him to smile.

"That might be the right word."

Griffin stared at Kaiju for a long time, pondering. He doesn’t seem to want me to tell what he knows. I won’t force him. He thought. However, a sudden curiosity compelled him to ask Kaiju, "Is she stronger than me?"

Kaiju replied in a grave tone, "Undoubtedly."

Griffin was appalled. It doesn’t seem he is lying. There’s no reason to in the first place. Griffin thought, surprisingly infuriated–not at Kaiju, but at himself, for remaining to be weak. Wait, Lucy being stronger than me should be a happy occasion, so why is he so serious? Griffin had a bad feeling.

Why does it appear to be a bad idea?

"Be careful. She might be more greedy than what she planned."

What? Griffin was taken aback. What does he mean? He was trying to make sense with Kaiju’s words, not until he realized when they arrived at the camp. He means... No way. Griffin found it difficult to believe his conclusion.

He glanced at Kaiju with a solemn countenance and thought. It can’t be.

However, that was plausible, if Lucy was a devil and connected it to Kaiju’s words, that is. He shook his head and remained silent. I must prepare. At this moment, he realized that the most dangerous individual in the Trial was not Vladislaus, nor the leaders of the Higher races present, nor the Overlord rank beast he came across long ago and strangely let him go...

It was Lucy...

Kaiju glanced at Griffin, seemingly engrossed in his own thoughts. He sensed Griffin’s intense stare earlier as he was conversing with Snow like nothing happened. He must have caught on to what I have said.

Kaiju then recalled Qwanisha words earlier, sharing the plan. He grinned and chuckled. Griffin, me, and Lucy should not be surprising if we have to work alone by ourselves and snatch the treasure. But, Lucy is...

He then recalled Aqua would be accompanying Lucy and couldn’t help but be worried. What if he died because of me? Should I just stop him, then?

At this point, Kaiju was now facing another dilemma at hand.
